July 8, 201510 yr I fly in on Tuesday morning and fly out on Sunday afternoon. Cost £175 on KLM (with baggage) which was the cheapest I could get from Edi. Is about what I paid to go to Berlin in December so no price gouging yet. Hotel on booking.com was £95 so not too bad all in all.
July 8, 201510 yr I can get Thur-Mon (enough time to do some sightseeing afterwards) from Edinburgh for £172. Would need to get the train from Newcastle though but I can't view tickets that far in advance.
July 8, 201510 yr Train from Newcastle is fairly cheap. Costing me £30 to go in August from NE Fife so you'll get a decent price for a train into Waverley/Haymarket. And the Tram heads right out to the Airport now so it's pretty easy to get to.
July 10, 201510 yr What is the best airport to fly into in Stockholm, as if I remember correctly none of them are particularly central.
July 10, 201510 yr I'm flying into Arlanda. Direct express train to Stockholm Central Station takes like 20mins.
July 10, 201510 yr I can only go direct to Bromma airport from my local airport. Don't know if I can be arsed with Heathrow.
August 20, 20159 yr Author General: Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw to host 2016? Swedish tabloid Expressen has reported that this year’s Eurovision winner and 2013 host are in the lead to be on stage again, this time as a presenting couple, when the contest moves back to Sweden next year. Måns and Petra seem to have all in their favour, as other big names like Sanna Nielsen are, reportedly, out of the run. Sarah Dawn Finer may be involved, though the exact role remains unclear. According to Expressen, a trustworthy inside source from SVT has stated that nothing has been put to paper yet, but that Mede and Zelmerlöw are the broadcaster’s preferred names. Zelmerlöw’s management refused to comment. Petra Mede has been contacted for comment but has yet to reply. Both Måns and Petra have Eurovision hosting (or Eurovision-related) experience, having held the responsibility for Melodifestivalen and the 2013 contest, respectively. Final confirmation is not expected to come for a while, as the main focus for now, according to Christer Björkman, is put everything in place to arrive at the kind of Eurovision that we want to have. ESC Xtra I'd be very happy with Måns and Petra, I'd like to see Gina involved somehow too - maybe in the green room? Talking of the green room, I very much hope it's in the arena and not somewhere else like in Malmo as the arena green rooms have been fabulous for the last few years (Malmo aside of course).
August 20, 20159 yr Petra was a fantastic host but I think you can have too much of a good thing, I'd like to see someone different.
August 20, 20159 yr Måns and Sanna would be my top choice. Both proven to be great and funny presenters and their Eurovision credentials and success too make them the ideal choice.
August 29, 20159 yr Author If this unofficial article is to be believed, the Czech Republic may be surprising all of us by staying in the contest for 2016. I hope it's true! (And if so can they enter Vaclav and Marta again as their personalities were just amazing)
September 8, 20159 yr Author I'd be happy with that, I'd like a co-host too though! According to ESC Forum rumours, it is expected that we'll have 41 countries preliminarily applied by the deadline which I think is next week. Australia will have gone (although they may be allowed to stay in a later announcement, we'll wait and see) but Ukraine and Bulgaria will have returned. Then the EBU will continue talking to other broadcasters including Croatia, Slovakia and Turkey up until the final deadline in December!
September 8, 20159 yr Good to hear, and unlike most former winners that get the hosting job, he is actually a proven host with a natural talent for it.
September 8, 20159 yr Speaking of Australia, Delta's Wings seems like such a missed opportunity of an entry for them this year, I reckon it could have given Mans a run for his money! (Though I would have spontaneously combusted at her being in Eurovision).
September 8, 20159 yr I'm not confidently saying the likes of Bulgaria are back until January at the earliest, we've been burned before!
September 8, 20159 yr Author Indeed, usually Bosnia & Herzegovina apply preliminarily but pull out by January!
September 8, 20159 yr I'd love Australia back as long as they put in as much effort as they did with Guy. They took it far more seriously than we have for over a decade and well deserved that final spot.
