I agree that 'Love Me Harder' should have been a hit and is perhaps the main song that's been mentioned that could have been a hit - if only it had Radio 1 support that is. 'One Last Time' was heading in the same direction until it got that boost, from somewhere I've forgotten, and Radio 1 playlisted it and then boosted it up iTunes. Still, 'Love Me Harder' did have an impressive chart run and it'll go Silver before the year is out.

'Love Me Harder' was actually playlisted by R1 - it was B-listed for a while before being dropped.

Ah right, I did check some of the playlists but couldn't find anything. Perhaps it was Capital that didn't support? Anyway, there was something that was stopping it from doing well on sales because I seem to recall it reached as high as it did because of streaming.

Weirdly Capital have only supported Problem and One Last Time for her. She's had very odd and inconsistent support here. Break Free has done really well for a single peaking at #16. It's on 331k now I think.

How odd they've chosen to support 'One Last Time'! I'd have thought 'Break Free' would be right up their street and they'd naturally support her following 'Problem'. You're right though, she has done very well despite the inconsistent support - she's an artist lucky enough to have strong streaming no matter how she performs sales-wise. 'Problem' and 'Break Free' still remain in the chart because of it ('Love Me Harder' only falling out this week).

If we're talking about Jessie Ware songs that should have done well, my vote goes to 'You and I (Forever)'!

I think 'Imagine it was us' could've been huge if promoted properly... disco anthem. :cheer:

I know this is older than a few months, but I'm still shocked that 'Home' by Naughty Boy flopped so bad. It was a great track with a brilliant video and had stellar airplay, yet missed the top 40. I think a lot of people (myself included) were expecting it to be a long-running top 10 hit.
Singles sales are so high that most of those songs mentioned have no chance to reach top 40.. For an act without any fanbase, such as Charli XCX, reaching top 40 requires a decent radio support.

I think these are the main ones right now:

Ciara - I Bet

Conor Maynard - Talking About

G.R.L. - Lighthouse

Luke Friend - Hole in My Heart (making the top 40 with no support is amazing but it deserved even more )

Tori Kelly - Nobody Love (not released yet but won't make any kind of impact when it is released)

And although it was a hit, I'd say Clean Bandit's Stronger is quite underrated. It had such a brief chart run when it's my personal favourite of their tracks by quite a way
