i too wouldn't call shakira queen of pop she only went global in 2001, i think the crown belongs to madonna she's been going since the mid 1980s, this year shakira has the worldwide biggest single by a female artist so she is ruling in that sense but overall madonna has been going for ages and carries herself as queen of pop

I don't think she will be, well not in Britan at least. Now I don't wanna start a huge argument but I think HDL was a big one off. Theres no doubt it'll probably end up being the second biggest selling single of the year but in terms of having hits like HDL in Britan, then I don't think she will.

To the hearts of the british public, Kylie is princess. Kylie will be at it much longer than Britney will. I would bet my life on it. Just because Kylie does not consistantly have success in america does not meen much. She is loved by the rest of the world and has been in the industry for 3 decades now. That is amazing. I do put Mariah in the royal family somewhere. But queen is Madonna and princess is Kylie. To me, its an obvious fact.

Yes just because Kylie is'nt big in the states does'nt means she's not the princess of pop. I can't stand it when people think the USA is the one and only bloody country. The fact is the chart in the US is completelly laughable. Kylie is a hell of alot more respected than most of the females in the US -_-

Yes I know, but how many other singles has she released in the UK?. Look at all acts like Robbie and Madonna they both have huge amounts of hit singles.

Yeah fine, but Shakira's sold around 50 million albums worldwide (total record sales = around 75 million). And Shakira's only ever released 5 singles in the UK, so obviously she can't have 34 Top 10 hits in a row.

 

As for Hung Up, Hips Don't Lie will over-take it by year's end. And HDL was Number 1 in every country it was released in, except for Canada, Hungary, Japan and Russia. As many countries have no singles chart, she was only officially Number 1 in 41 countries (snap), but in actuality it would have been many more (80 or so).
