June 25, 201510 yr I think 'Cheerleader' is becoming comfortably bigger than 'Wake Me Up' and any of David Guetta's singles, but 'We Found Love' hadn't come to mind; that would be near-impossible to beat. I'd guess the biggest non-'Macarena' dance hit of the '90s to be 'The Sign', maybe 'Another Night' in 2nd place. 'Cheerleader' is charting on Reggae Digital Songs, so I suppose they wanted to honour that side of it instead. Can't really blame them if there are so few opportunities of hit songs that can chart there that 'Rude' and the 15-years-old 'It Wasn't Me' are still top 4.
June 25, 201510 yr And well done to 'Cheerleader' for possibly being the biggest non-BEP/LMFAO dance hit in the US like, ever? It's hard to think of much competition. :cheer: qV0LHCHf-pE Edit: Oh wait I missed the ensuing conversation, but Baauer's #4 EOY finish must be worshipped. Edited June 25, 201510 yr by Dircadirca
June 25, 201510 yr The odd thing is Billboard apparently doesn't consider "Cheerleader" a dance song? Like, it's not charting on Dance/Electronic Songs. I know the way the genre charts work now, they basically pick and choose what songs go where, but still. I thought it was because they didn't specify the Felix Jaehn remix in the chart credit, but they didn't specify the Robin Schulz remix for "Waves" either and somehow that ended up on the dance chart?? With Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey that was put in the rock chart for the first few weeks, then got changed to the dance/electronic chart. So it's possible they might change it. It does look messy when they have an old song "debuting" really high up the chart randomly though. Another example is Stay by Rihanna which was put in the R&B chart at first (on album release week) but then got taken off later when it was a single (which I found strange, as John Legend and Alicia Keys piano ballads get to chart there). Also, surely Believe by Cher is the biggest dance song? It was year-end #1, I'm not sure if it happened any other time. In recent years the biggest is probably Party Rock Anthem. June 25, 201510 yr Author Chart HighlightsWiz Khalifa's "See You Again" leads the Hot 100 for a tenth week, becoming just the seventh rap song to spend that many weeks at #1. It spends a fourth week at #1 on Radio Songs with 167 million in audience impressions, and drops to #4 on Digital Songs with 118,000 downloads sold. The gap between "See You Again" and Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" remains essentially even from last week, with "See You Again" decreasing 8% and "Bad Blood" decreasing 7%. "See You Again"'s extended stay at #1 means that 2015 matches the slowest turnover for the first half of a year; 1996 also saw only three new #1s in its first six months. Additionally, only three lead artists have topped the chart all year: Taylor ("Blank Space" and "Bad Blood"), Mark Ronson ("Uptown Funk!"), and Wiz ("See You Again"). This last happened in 2004, when the first six months saw OutKast reigning with "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move", Twista with "Slow Jamz", and Usher with "Yeah!" and "Burn".OMI's "Cheerleader" moves into the top 5 at #4. It earns Digital Gainer honors, moving up to #2 on Digital Songs with 159,000 downloads sold. It's also rising on airplay: the song jumps to #10 on Pop Songs as this week's Greatest Gainer.Further Down: The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" surges to #12 after debuting at #24 last week. It earns both Airplay and Streaming Gainer honors this week, ranking at #16 on Radio Songs (58 million in audience impressions) and #17 on Streaming Songs (6.5 million US streams). It keeps at #8 on Digital Songs (83,000 downloads sold) after debuting there last week. Look for it to enter the Hot 100 top 10 next week. Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" is the lone new top-40 entry, jumping to #34. It's Ed's eighth hit in the region. The song rises to #24 on Digital Songs with 53,000 downloads sold last week. Finally, this week's highest-debuting song, Adam Lambert's "Ghost Town", enters all the way down at #73. Edited June 28, 201510 yr by dhwe

June 25, 201510 yr Gutted that Talking Body's chances of being in the Top 10 are done now. Numbers are slowing down and Timebomb video just released this week. That being said, I am very happy the song did well as it did by peaking at number 12. Plus, Talking Body sold and streamed well and had an impressive radio peak audience. I initially thought it would spend a month in the Hot 100 and that's about it since Not on Drugs didn't even release, despite making a video for it. So, I'm glad Talking Body built momentum and found success. Hoping Timebomb will do well. Edited June 25, 201510 yr by buzz_person
June 25, 201510 yr Any chance of Adam Lambert doing well then? I've been vaguely impressed by its UK performance and the song seems popular so I wouldn't be totally shocked if it became a minor hit.
June 26, 201510 yr Author Top 50 seems like it's best shot atm. I kind of assumed it was doing better because my local station plays it a lot but that may just be a local thing.
