September 5, 20159 yr Can we get a mod's input on this plz?  No need, the BuffyCharmwd has spoken  :arrr:
September 5, 20159 yr There was no indication at the time 'Easy Love' was sent that it was going to be a hit at all. It only started to get any radio support partway through the contest. (I'm not sure if the mods were even aware of the sample anyway, the veto process doesn't involve listening through the songs to check for samples)
September 5, 20159 yr Essentially what this amounts to is yet more evidence of Lee treating Buzzjack (and BJSC) and his own private FIEFDOM and has y'all fooled into thinking he is in any way a respectable member of this community. Please bear this in mind at the next popularity contest.

September 5, 20159 yr SIGALA THE 0 POINT VETO WONDER THO. Really 0 points??? (I'm not sure if the mods were even aware of the sample anyway, the veto process doesn't involve listening through the songs to check for samples)  The song sounds nooothin like ABC original anyway. The lyrics were sampled.
September 5, 20159 yr Just to say that no songs are 100% approved until the semi-finals open, so the countries that have turned green in the first post are still not completely safe. ^_^
September 5, 20159 yr Author Just to say that no songs are 100% approved until the semi-finals open, so the countries that have turned green in the first post are still not completely safe. ^_^That's because you never gave me a hint the first two times :drama:

September 5, 20159 yr Sorry we weren't clear, it's just that songs are never fully approved until the semi-finals open as the situations of songs can sometimes change as a confirmation week progresses. I didn't realise this wasn't a well-known thing!
September 5, 20159 yr Just because I have to put my two cents in, I saw something on Sigala 'obviously going to be a hit' before it actually got entered but I was on holiday during confirmation and didn't look at the list very closely. If I'd have looked closely and seen it in prior to semis I'd have asked the mods to have another look at it (but even then I doubt just me banging on about something being cheap would have got it vetoed). And god, entries that sample famous songs are the WORST for me. So lazy. There was no indication at the time 'Easy Love' was sent that it was going to be a hit at all. It only started to get any radio support partway through the contest. (I'm not sure if the mods were even aware of the sample anyway, the veto process doesn't involve listening through the songs to check for samples) edit: Officially, it doesn't, but because of my personal dislike of these types of songs, if I get the time I'm normally taking quick listens to any that from the titles sound as if they could have samples. So that doesn't mean samples are free of the veto process, it's just because we don't always have time to listen to every single song they might slip through.
September 5, 20159 yr Author Just double checking that you got my change of entry Cody?Yes and I love it
September 5, 20159 yr What did you mean by this? That there isn't much competition left within the rockbloc? Nooo just that it's September, we only have like 2 more contests this year if we take a break in December?
September 5, 20159 yr Author TBO and Rejects isn't necessarily a break unless you're not represented in either
September 5, 20159 yr You'll always be represented in one of them unless you didn't enter any contest that year! ;) :P
September 5, 20159 yr Sigala is a great pop song, it bears little relation to the original. Nobody is forced to vote for any song if they have issues with them. I frequently loathe tracks with samples in them cos they are invariably rubbish and the sample is the best thing in it by far. If a track does something new and fresh with it then it's fine as far as I'm concerned - not as if sampling is new, it's an established part of the creative process for 30 years now, and is at least as acceptable as sampling a bassline, or carbon copying an old track wholesale (hello Blurred Lines which I commented in my chart blurb the week I charted it that it essentially was Got To Give It Up), neither of which would cause any issues or comment. Dance tracks are often derivative of previous tracks (dance is often about bandwagon jumping which is why it sounds very much of it's period as fashions come and go) at least Sigala stands out as a bit different from the pack :P
September 5, 20159 yr TBO and Rejects isn't necessarily a break unless you're not represented in either Yea I know! I just meant from the main contest  I've had more rejects than anything at this point though :drama:
