There's actually never been a Bond theme at number 1? :o I always assumed at least A View to a Kill & Live & Let Die got there. I'm really quite surprised by that, especially as most of the artists would've been massively popular at the time.

That'll be an annoying record for Sam Smith to hold <_< (which I highly doubt he won't do, there's very little out over the next few weeks)

At least it's not Ellie G, which had been rumoured.

My choices would have been Lana del Rey, Antony and the Johnsons, Conchita Wurst or The Weeknd.

Was this even questionable? :P

I put #1 but not the biggest selling. I don't want to jinx it, you see.

I completely read the title as "Will Smith has the first #1 James Bond theme".

Me2

Not #1 and not the biggest selling Bond theme. I just see it as a long-running T10 hit, it's being released on a Monday to charts dominated by streaming - could all change if they release to streaming early of course.
I think it will be #1, sadly (well maybe not in the very small chance that it's actually good).
Isn't this poll a bit premature given that we haven't even heard the song yet?
So they ruined Adele's release by releasing on a Friday (our current release day), and now they're releasing this on Monday (the release day back then). Someone needs to inform their team what the correct release days are!

Would be the best bond theme ever!

Having Sam Smith sing the Bond theme is much preferable than Ellie Goulding... hope it's massive for him.
It COULD still hold up in its second week and make #1 due to sale being very low currently.
It could be absolute shit though

That often doesn't make much difference with the general public though.

I hope this is huge for Sam, he's immensely talented and I love everything he's released so far!

Well there was method to the madness with 'Skyfall'. From Wiki:

"Skyfall" was released at 0:07 BST on 5 October 2012 as part of the Global James Bond Day, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, the first James Bond film.

No idea why this one is being released on a Monday though.

Are people just going by the iTunes release date? Back when singles were released on Sundays, iTunes always used to show the release date as being the Friday before or something in regards to pre-orders so I'm guessing it's a similar situation here, because I definitely read that the Bond theme would premiere and be released on Friday 25th September.
