Also according to Ed Sheeran's Twitter, he will be releasing a song with Rudimental called Lay It All On Me on Friday. The last single until 'album 3' *Buzzjack cheers*

Didn't know One Direction had a new song out.
lol @ Rudimental desperately trying to save their album's impending floppage by doing another single with Ed Sheeran.

It's just an instant grat from the new album pre-order, released under an hour ago!

Instant grats count towards the chart now?

They've counted in some shape or form for the last 2 years or so... :P Individual purchases of the track count (not the ones received when pre-ordering the album) to the chart and it's been this way for a year or so now.

1 One Direction - Infinity 1.0000

2 Justin Bieber - What Do You Mean? 0.6517

That lead already :o :cheer:

21 One Direction - Drag Me Down 0.1719

22 One Direction - Drag Me Down 0.1611

The version at #21 is the single version, the one at #22 is the an instant grat also. Top 10 combined :D

Never saw that One Direction track coming, that track flew over my head, and that gap :o I should imagine it could just scrape the top 40, depends how quickly the track wears off.

I guess technically they can claim a #2 hit from this album at least seeing as their version of Bloodstream is on the standard tracklist!

Quite surprised that Disclosure and Rudimental's campaigns have both had a fairly muted response so far in terms of singles chart success though, I thought at least one might have retained the same level of popularity this time around.

It just proves how hard it is for dance acts to keep up sustained interest over extended periods. You rarely see it managed outside of Calvin/Guetta etc. The fact Avicii for example is still getting comfortable top tens is actually very impressive.
I swear Jools Holland show is one week behind, they have Stereophonics on it this week, their album should cushion their fall a bit. Other artists on this week are Roisin Murphy, Richard Hawley and the Maccabees.
It's not exactly hard to see why Rudimental, Disclosure and Avicii have experienced such a decline since their peaks two years ago. The quality has worn off and with it the interest in them.

All three seem to be out of ideas for sure. They all have a distinct trademark sound that works for one album/era but there's a need to switch things up every now and then to manage sustained success.

Avicii has disappointed me most because I liked him the most two years ago, when he delivered both my favourite album and single of 2013. Even I can't make an argument for For A Better Day, I really hope there's better on the album.

I can though :kink:

Avicii has done very well to have The Nights and Waiting For Love be massive hits worldwide though. I do get the feeling that For A Better Day is just his You Make Me moment of the album and he'll come back with a post album single that'll smash hard (not on Hey Brother levels of course but quite big).

I think this could do it for him actually:

Seems odd that For A Better Day has tanked SO spectacularly, what with it being on the Radio 1 playlist, and the fact that name alone used to be enough to get his tracks quite high on iTunes.

I'm still looking forward to the album, and I'm keeping the faith. I do actually really like Waiting For Love although I was never fussed on The Nights.

More like his Lay Me Down moment tbh.

And yeah Broken Arrows is indeed much better!

For a Better Day has tanked because it's just THERE. There's nothing exciting about it at all imo, I heard it and forgot it right after. On the bright side, it's not rehashing Wake Me Up like The Nights and Waiting For Love were, but he really needs to shake up his sound to survive I think. People won't want the same song twice. Or three times...
