One proposal on the table is that Stadio could compose a new song that features runner-up Francesca Michielin, that would at least be better than Stadio solo but I'd rather have Francesca solo! :(

They should bring back the Eurovision panel for next year's Sanremo Festival or choose internally like Emma in 2014.

UPDATE: So, there are multiple reports now that Stadio will not represent Italy. The final selection is just as long as the actual Sanremo show itself!!!!

Yeah apparently they would now love to go but can't due to touring commitments in May, let's hope they don't get convinced to cancel them!

UPDATE: Runner-up, Francesca Michielin, will now represent Italy.

Yes perfect!! Really really like her Sanremo song if she does go with that one, and it's good that it's gone to her as she said prior to the festival she'd love to go to Eurovision!

I love her Sanremo song as well!!! If she sticks with that song, it has a good chance to do well.

She's retweeted a fan or fansite that tweeted she is going to Eurovision with her Sanremo song (just presuming at the time I assume), so maybe she is intending to go with 'Nessun grado di separazione'! :cheer:

 

I really like that on first listen (obviously not the final ESC version but still). Way to snatch a good entry from the jaws of abject horror Italy.

This will be a wonderful entry if it's what she goes with. Gorgeous song.

It gets better with every listen too, it'd probably go as high as my top 3 in terms of rankings so far! I'm going to stop listening now though so I don't get any more attached if she does decide to change song.

Hoping she does a Nina Zilli and goes with a Italian/English version of her Sanremo winner (well 2nd placer)!

She had better do that, because I can't imagine her pulling out a song as good as 'Nessun grado di separazione' if she goes for a new one.

I hope she stays singing in Italian, the Italian language is beautiful and whilst Nessun grado di separazione is a really lovely song it would lose its charm in English I think, it'd just be a quite nice ballad. Bilingual is fine too, sort of a best of both worlds where it gives it a wider appeal but keeps the wonder of the Italian language in it too.

Agreed with that. I'd be fine with a bit of English but anything close to a full translation would probably ruin it and expose weaknesses in the song that don't need to have attention drawn to them (e.g her tone is pretty unspectacular).
