That was touching to read the Ready For Your Love segment, I guess you have songs connected to certain times/events that inflate your feelings towards a song be it happy or sad. The track itself I wasn't huge on at the time but looking back it was a real staple of the deep house takeover. I do prefer Here For You which came at around a time that sound was losing its short-lived popularity!

Ah, German Whip what an absolute tune  Such a great moment when this charted although narrowly missing out of the top 10. I will never get bored of this song.

Grreat top 10 so far, especially loving 'Hold On We're Going Home' - one of my faves from him and he's got a lot of good songs.

'Freak of the Week' also really brilliant and should be making an appearance in my End of Year.

'Read For Yor Love' is great, but I'd say 'Real' is still my favourite from them.

6. Wretch 32 - 6 Words

This will be my wedding song... wife dependent obviously!

A seriously touching and beautiful piece of music from my favourite artist of the decade. I kind of like the fact Wretch doesn't rap on this record and the "Can't sing but I wrote you a song yeah" line is so relatable to the feeling of being in love. Given an anthemic D&B touch from Wilkinson, I remember this still charted in the top 10 despite being released on the busiest release week of 2014 - a true testament of quality. A song that swells my chest with pride and hope.

5. Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne & Tyga - Loyal

My favourite song from 2014, a year that consistently delivered songs that I loved - moreso than this year.

'Loyal' is the sort of song that gets loads of stick on music forums when in reality it is widely loved. Probably the perfect Chris Brown song, the hook is cynical and clinical but undeniably great to sing. A Nic Nac beat that is also hard to resist and sounds like a more energetic interpretation of DJ Mustard. Lil Wayne who rhymes "hoes" with "flamingos". Chris Brown's warning to those looking to shack up with the aforementioned " hoes" gives this song a deeper meaning than anything Lady GaGa has produced (only half joking). Above all this is the definition of a jam, a certain 10's classic.

6 Words, what a beaut of a track  it was his best single in seemingly AGES when he released it. He'll never top Traktor in my eyes but that was my first year jam at uni so holds good memories. Was great to see 6 Words go top 10 anyway, I remember it actually gaining a place thanks to streaming which was pretty amazing for a heldback release.

Loyal though  I'd actually have to rank it as my favourite ever track of his now, which is definitely saying something! The whole track is just to slick and like you say a great singalong too.

4. WSTRN - In2

As a rule, I tend to find new music extremely early. So from mid-July 2015, I had this earmarked as a potential future hit and it's rise from LinkUp.TV to the top 5 in around 100 days was fantastic to see. A seriously addictive RnBass track with a unique guitar strum blew up in the Autumn of 2015 to become loved by the streets and the charts equally. My favourite song of 2015, partly because of it's trajectory...

Also, around the time I first heard this was when I starting dating my current female interest. This is why I find the chorus so relatable - expressing that deep seated confidence that this girl likes you, even if she tries to hide it. ;) This song always reminds me of her and like 'Ready For Your Love', stirs up emotions for me - although positive ones this time. We're both looking forward to seeing each other for the first time in seemingly ages this Christmas (she's a student) and absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Makes me love this song even more to be honest!

3. John Newman - Love Me Again

For me, this is the Pop song of the decade. No exaggeration to say I had goosebumps when I first heard it and it's probably grown on me since!

John Newman of course was the voice of the HUGE 'Feel The Love' the year before (and the critically received 'Not Giving In') both by Rudimental. He truly delivered with his debut solo single, becoming one of the biggest selling singles of 2013 and inescapable for the rest of that year. The rave pianos help elevate this record and the middle-eight section is outstanding.

Newman was often compared to Sam Smith and up to this point, they had had similar trajectories. In the Summer of 2013, Newman was the undoubted star of the two until Smith became ubiquitous a year later with his own solo material. A slight shame, as Love Me Again delievers in a way that none of 'In The Lonely Hour' does. A bombastic, up-tempo Pop classic (probably). If only more of the genre appealed to me in quite the same way.

Ready For Your Love is very good. Also:

Loyal :music:

6 Words :music:

In2 :D

Love Me Again :music: shame this guy can't get back to his successful charting! :(

Loyal and In2 are abysmal, but 6 Words is really good and Love Me Again is a classic.

Each to their own. 6 Words surprised a lot of people with it's quality I think - not typical rap fare.

2. Stylo G - Soundbwoy

Summer 2013 was a special time for myself. I turned 18 in May and left Sixth Form with high A Level results to start my current job at Aldi in the Autumn. Passed my driving test, started going clubbing regularly and went on a Lad's Holiday to Kavos where I did just about everything (even some sex ;)). I remember this as a time of growing confidence in my life with a sense that anything was possible. This is reflected in this countdown I think with songs like Can't Hold Us, Blackout, Love Me Again, Antenna, Waiting All Night, La La La, Zimma Frame, Power Trip, Soon Come, Lost & Not Found & Ring A Long finding their way into my Top 100. This song however was the true soundtrack of those golden times.

Soundbwoy, the debut major label single from Stylo G, is an intoxicating mix of reggae, dancehall and dubstep with the glossiness of R&B and creates a certain feeling of swagger. It's confident raps and triumphant beat were perfect at a time of great adventure in my life and became my anthem. So much so thay listening to it now brings a huge reminiscent smile to my face. I'm surprised to learn it only peaked at #18 in the UK chart because I honestly remember this being played a lot on radio and TV at the time.

Still, this is huge for me. Probably a typical 'banger' for everyone else but a song I have so much love for and will always associate with carefree times in my life.

Not as big on In2 as you of course but it's sticking around more than I expected. Quite good in the clubs.

Gonna have to disagree on Love Me Again :kink: very well crafted pop song I give you but FAR too overplayed for me to ever enjoy again. His voice grates me on those choruses. I don't even really like Feel The Love anymore either, only Blame he sounds tremendous on.

Soundbwoy is the bomb :music: sounded amazing when I heard it recently and didn't give it enough credit when it first came out.

1. Plan B - iLL Manors

This was always going to be my #1 of the decade, without question. Most of the songs on the countdown are party jams, but I love powerful music with real feeling and meaning. iLL Manors delivers this and more.

In the aftermath of the 2011 Riots across England, many people castigated the offenders as 'yobs' or 'thugs' who just wanted to have a HD TV. The fustration felt by the young and the working class was largely overlooked and this was what Plan B wanted to address with this song and the album of the same name. Prior to release, he gave various interviews explaining the meaning behind the song and it quickly became a critics favourite in newspapers like The Guardian. A mainstream protest song we could all love.

The song itself is fantastic. String-led haunting production (he sampled classical music, but don't know which song), hard but quotable lyrics and a chorus that's so chantable. I've used the word 'anthemic' a lot on the Countdown, but this is indisputably that!

For that reason, iLL Manors is my favourite song of the decade.

Some nice choices at the top! ill Manors, Love Me Again, Hold On We're Going Home are all great, 6 Words is probably Wretch's best single to date, Soundbwoy is an interesting pick for the #2, German Whip was a bit of an oddity from a chart hit perspective but a good one (tbf with the memorable hook and the song's driving (heh) energy I can see how it caught on). I never liked Loyal obviously, but anyways this is still a great countdown, and an idea I've been mulling over myself, might get around to one soon ~

Also great that 'i' got a high place btw <3

Ah Soundbwoy has quite a good vibe to it :D the Plan B song title sounds familiar. Will have to check it out again!

Great to see you comment here Seven! I'd definitely read a top 100 countdown from you. Nice approval of my choices for the top spots - the top 15 or so were probably the easiest to pick.

Big Thank You to everybody who's read and commented on the countdown - I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making it! Feel free to select your highlights if you haven't already.

the whole top 10's great!

ill manors the song was not something i expected from Plan B but it was great, even if the rest of that era wasn't up to much.

soundbwoy was quite the jam too although antenna which was out at around the same time kinda overshadowed it for me. it still made my eoy top 100 tho

Whilst I love a lot of Plan B's work (his Chase & Status collabs being the highlights) I've never been a fan of iLL Manors. I get the message of the song and fully agree with your point on that but it's not particularly pleasant to listen to on a musical level. That said, we need new music from him as he's shown with She Said & Stay Too Long he can bring out excellent tracks.

Lots of amazing tracks in your top 100 I couldn't even begin to pick personal highlights!
