Well that went completely through me. Technically competent for a pop song but I feel nothing from it. Even Denmark tends to do their MoR better.

I can't even see it being that well done live. I'd be doubting it at this early stage.

Would not be surprised at all if that songs Danish written. Seems to have that particular mix of MOR but still catchy feel to it.

It's nice and all but unless the standard of this year is really terrible, not a standout.

Its not, it was written by Nicky, Wayne Hector (from the UK) who has written for artists such as Westlife, One Direction and Britney Spears, and Irishman Ronan Hardiman

I quite like it, and surprisingly uptempo for a former Westlife. Really surprised by the vocal considering he never really sang solos in Westlife.

I like the melody of the bridge and middle eight of this, it's actually a rather good entry from Ireland and quite often in my head.

Incidentally, is this the first Eurovision entry Wayne Hector has ever written? Seems strange if so as he's been such a prolific hit songwriter for the past 20 years or so.

Edit: just seen he wrote Standing Still for Germany in 2012.

I think it fits the Eurovision really well - harmless modern pop song. I also think Nicky proved he can actually sing - his voice isn't wow but it is good. And if Jedward who have worse vocals than him could do it, then so can Nicky. He is a very humble and likable guy so I'm sure he will charm the press while promoting this with ease. Not to mention being a Westlife member will also be a advantage, even the fact that he presented Irish votes at Eurovision for the past 3 years.

I like this, it doesnt sound like a winner but i hope he will qualify for us and possibly come somewhere on the left side of the score board.

Nicky revealed that the single is out next Friday and that he will do a few performances next week as well. So we will see how good is this live.

As the entry is selected so early he has loads of time for promotion. He needs to promote alot around Euopre if the RTE budget allows for it.

He is really doing a proper worldwide release - he said on Twitter that Sunlight will be available in USA, Canada and Mexico on February 26th

Nicky has radio edit and a single version of Sunlight. Single version is a bit longer 3:30 - it has one extra line "we wanna live it like the sun never will go down" in the 2nd verse and towards the end arrangement is a little different.

Not a bad perf, I imagine once they get to Stockholm they'll have fine tuned it and got better staging.

Bit shaky at first but it got better as the song went by. Hopefully he will get more comfortable til May, I think nerves hit him. I think he can be better.

Y shaky to start but he pulled it in well, he openly admitted in the interview before the song he was nervous as it was his first solo live performance, i think he will be fine. I really hope he qualifies, its the type of song that wont win but would be great to end the night of the final (if he qualifies) on the left hand side of the score board.
I think this will go through to the final but can't see it doing much - Westlife had success in Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Germany and of course the UK so that could help like it did with Blue.

Nicky's 2nd live performance:

I think everything was much better now - the vocals were good, he didn't miss a note he seemed more confident and he moved around the stage.

I think Nicky and the team are doing loads of trip across Europe, hopefully it pays off and can get him some votes.

I hope you are right. So far he has only been in Ukraine so I'm a bit skeptical but maybe it will happen, there is still time.

I think Sunlight is too underrated. I mean, it is not wow but it is good catchy pop tune that grows on you. A few days ago I heard entry for Sweden - in my opinion, the song is weaker than Sunlight and Frans vocals are not anything spectacular - and yet Sweden is 2nd favorite to win. People seem to always point out Nicky isn't a great singer - well Frans isn't either but he is still doing it, so what?

Nicky improved a lot from his first live performance on D'arcy Show to Ukrainian final and that was just in 1 week time so I think he will be just fine.
