But that 13 weeks isn't really comparable with similar runs a few years ago, as a significant proportion of it is due to the same people listening to it over & over, rather than just *buying it* once.

The above is a fact, not a troll...

It hasn't left the top 15 on sales anyway so the point still stands. Besides, the way music is consumed by many has changed, so streaming counts just as much. Again, downplaying his success cause you don't like him.

I think it's evidently clear he's branching out from appealing just to a "hormonal and teenage" market now. I'm liking his new music, and I know a wide range of people from all different ages groups who are too...
No new songs, lots of glaring omissions and no promotion. Why would it do well?

Even I only bought it because I'm an absolute Stan and it will be good in the car.

I can't fathom why anyone would download it for a start.

Very much agreed. Such a poor track listing.

There has been a recall on the Take That reissue due to faulty DVD so that may well lose them their top 10 placing.

Slowdow73 - Apparently, the Take That DVD 'freezes' at about the 13 minute mark. So their

Fans have been returning it to Amazon etc.

Vidcapper - I'm not a Justin Bieber Fan either, but he's obviously much more popular now, (in the

UK), than he's ever been before. He's the first living Male Act to have 3 UK Top 5 Hits, (at the same

time), since Frankie Laine, in 1953. Streaming helps him - a lot - but, we have to deal with the Charts

as they are, & not how we'd like them to be.

The Take That re-release seems a disaster with a faulty dvd been a huge problem, quality contro manager will be in the firing line.
I think I'll take up crocodile wrestling - it might be safer... :teresa:
With it looking likely that 'Love Yourself' will be No. 2 on Friday, and with it essentially being an album track at this stage... what was the last album track to even go Top 10, let alone as high as No. 2? I remember 'Viva La Vida' going straight in at #1 although it was *sort of* a single wasn't it? Have any album tracks done as well since then?

It's hard to tell what is literally just an album track. Like, Emeli Sande's 'Read All About It (Part 3)' wasn't ever a single, but had a huge performance to promote it and radio took to it after that, so is more of a promo single than just an album track.

An album track for me is a song that hasn't been sent to radio, hasn't been particularly promoted (like how 'Read All About It (Part 3)' was, obviously performing on tour can be looked over) and hasn't got a video. If it literally just does well because people have listened to the album and like a particular song, then it can keep the "album track" title.

I remember 'Love the Way You Lie' debuted Top 10 the same week as the album but I don't know if it was officially a single at that point.

Drunk In Love went top 10 for Beyoncé long before it was a single! TV picked up on the video though so that explains it.
:drama: at people still insisting on playing down jb's success. he has three singles in the top five for god's sake - SLAYING ADELE... *repeats for emphasis* ADELE - credit where it's due, and his music of late is due a hell of a lot of it.

No actual info regarding Adele's sales today but Mint Royale posted this:

Adele looking like she'll easily beat Oasis and their 7 day sales record. I think she'll end up selling around 925,000.

Good on him for having this success. I'm shocked by it... Mainly because I don't think the music is that good. I thought there must be an explanation so I tried listening to his album. That got turned off.

Could Love Yourself get a surge, once its released as a single?

Or will its early success hinder its chances in the future?

Potemtially 3 T5 songs for 2 consecutive weeks. Amazing

The main version that sold was the live performance from the Brits which was released the night of the Brits.

Maybe that's not what you meant but define "single"? lol

Mint Royale corrected himself to 830,000 copies.

He should correct himself again to 800K.

She sold 66K yesterday (681K total).

830,000 is incredible and with 2 days sales remaining Adele will easily manage 900,000. What an achievement in the current climate of cd sales. Triple platinum in its first week. That said, if she does manage to sell over 900,000 i will be slightly disappointed she missed out on 1 million opening sales as that would just sound even more amazing.
