Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One

As with seemingly every year, Sergey Lazarev is the leading rumour to be Russia's 2016 entrant but this time the rumour has made it to what is apparently Russia's biggest tabloid newspaper according to ESC Kaz.

 

The article reports that the entry will be organised the same way as with Polina, in that the song will be chosen separately. It is further reported that Philip Kirkorov is already in competition to promote his entry to the broadcaster with several other writing/production teams, including a few from Sweden (of course!).

 

I read about this a few days ago, so listened to his most recent single - and it's amazing! Of course I presume Russia will choose something more formulaic than this, but it'd be fantastic to come up with something like this:

I'm creaming my pants. Been following this hot piece of Russian ass since 2008, about time he's showing up in this stage. So going to Stockholm and stalking him on Grindr like it's the last thing I'm gonna do.

 

It's been confirmed today that they are going with Philipp Kirkorov's song! I believe Shady Lady and Work Your Magic are two of his best songs in recent-ish years.

So this is Russia's strategy to avoid the booing for it's homophobic policies.... send the gayest Russian national they could find.

Lazarev's song for ESC 2016 (and video, of course) will be premiered in 5, March on Rossiya-1 channel about 5PM GMT. Not sure if they'll put english subs...

I think it should be sort of ballad, if they'll show us video on "TV channel for Soviet grannys and housewives".

Anyway, Sergey Lazarev really can sing (almost) all kinds of ballads. 10 years of solo career shouldn't pass by.

The team has like 5 dancers so I don't believe it will be ballady.
