77.) Little Mix - "Black Magic"
Chart Points: 8244
Lead single, Get Weird
Chart Run: 40-37-28-29-28-24-24-16-13-12-12-14-16-21-25-30-38 (17 weeks)

*fangasms over Jade Thirlwall again*

Little Mix tend to impress me the most with their lead singles, so to see them release a Sabrina The Teenage Witch take on "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" got me pretty excited. I was surprised that it took them this song since "Move" to create another lead single that had a shot at a long-lasting #1 and of course there was no denying that this was going to be their biggest hit yet. While Jesy's part tends to be a bit much sometimes, it still fit pretty well. The video I pretty much covered in the Best Videos of 2015 thread, but it's fun and pretty creative so I'd recommend that as well. So if you like a shameless summery girl band track that encompasses everything about magic-related shows, this is that track.

76.) Fifth Harmony - "I'm In Love With A Monster"
Chart Points: 8247
Soundtrack single, Hotel Transylvania 2
Chart Run: 39-37-36-38-36-31-28-18-12-6-8-12-17-20-28-36-43-49... (18+ weeks)

The first of three Fifth Harmony singles comes in at #77. This is also the first Halloween-specific song to chart. I didn't really care for Hotel Transylvania 2, I thought it was just another animated flick, but this song brought the sass and class that kinda transcended the likes of the typical children's movie soundtrack song. The best part: LAUREN SINGS HALF OF THE SONG. I've already stated my love for her; she's practically my future wife, and I'm so thankful for this single because she barely sings in Reflection. The video is very American Horror Story and it shows the amount of class these ladies have. All in all a good job. To see it just about match the peak of "Sledgehammer" on this chart was a nice surprise as well. Really hope they keep the quality up for the next album.

A-Trak Push a really nice tune, I've been loving a lot of his most recent stuff too.

Little Mix & FH liking what they're putting out atm too.

75.) Robin Schulz f/Francesco Yates - "Sugar"
Chart Points: 8309
2nd single, Sugar
Chart Run: 20-10-10-10-8-10-12-18-22-31-41 (11 weeks)

You do not know how much excitement o had for a Robin Schulz single of this caliber. It was the type of sexy tropical house that I was getting into at the time, and the thought of a second Robin Schulz album gave me some real hope now that he had two US smashes. While I still believe "Prayer In C" is his best song, he's been pretty consistent with overall material. This takes a sample from an oldie, Baby Bash's "Suga Suga" (another one of my all-time favorite songs), and completely shifts it around for a sexy party hit. Francesco's voice is also pretty on par. I want to expect this to do well in Canada since both artists are pretty established, but we'll see where time takes us.

Olly_Murs_-_Up_(feat._Demi_Lovato)_(Official_Single_Cover).png

74.) Olly Murs f/Demi Lovato - "Up"
Chart Points: 8339
2nd single, Never Been Better
Chart Run: 35-28-18-8-5-6-8-12-21-28-36-44 (12 weeks)

Around this time last year, I charted this song and it became Olly's biggest hit here to date. Despite his US airplay only delegated to Radio Disney (and in my car it has shit quality), that didn't stop me from appreciating it as another solid Olly duet. He teams up with Demi Lovato (whose two solo tracks are still to come), and hearing her front and center in the chorus was really nice. These types of songs (duets) really heighten her voice and showcase what she can do with other people. There was a time last year where I thought Demi only got her biggest hits from features such as this; we'll see where that went pretty soon.

IF YOU COULD TAKE MY PULSE. RIGHT. NOW. IT WOULD FEEL JUST LIKE A SLEDGEHAMMER.

At first I kinda lol'd about this song having absolutely no Dinah in it, but I was so wowed by Lauren and Ally that I just couldn't resist. One of those Camila parts could have been given to Dinah though, but I digress. This also grew on be over the start of last year and only reached its full potential when I actually started to become a fully active member on the site (i.e. Cody Christian's announcement that he was gonna be on Teen Wolf). That first chorus was just so crystal clear and euphoric and the way the song slows down during the middle 8 is just mesmerizing. It's like looking inside a sapphire ring and seeing the girls perform their music video. LAUREN'S VERSE GAVE ME CHILLS. In essence, I think I really like this song more than the chart run illustrates (it is, after all, my second most played song on iTunes this year).

Chart Points: 8364
Non-album single
Chart Run: 38-29-16-9-9-11-12-14-18-22-26-29... (12+ weeks)

The next entry comes from my second Canadian BJSC entrant (and also my youngest), reality singing show alum, singer and actress Charlie Storwick, who just goes by her middle name. The one thing that drew me to this song (other than my fascination for young talent) is the Sia-sounding chorus. Her voice really shines through the production as if it weren't another overly produced pop song (but it's pop, don't get me wrong). It's a bit of a haunting track, and the video also proves it (Charlie, honey, what's with the pineapples?). While I'm not sure when her next single will come, you can catch her on the Canadian teen sitcom Some Assembly Required. She's not too bad for a girl who just turned 17 so good on her.

Also I was kinda expecting this to go through to the TBO semis, so my question is WHY.

71.) Maroon 5 - "This Summer's Gonna Hurt"
Chart Points: 8380
4th single, V
Chart Run: 49-34-29-16-8-5-6-10-17-25-40 (11 weeks)

Around the beginning of May (when "Sugar" was pretty much the worst thing in the world), I thought there wasn't gonna be another single that could redeem Maroon 5. The exact same thought I had after "Love Somebody" became a hit. I was proven wrong before and this was another example. I just couldn't get over the first few seconds of the anthemic hook and whenever this song came on I would always scream it. I find this to be extremely underrated in terms of Maroon 5 singles as it didn't do as well as some of their dirge and not a lot of people on Buzzjack like Maroon 5 (other than T Boy and maybe Liam, bless you guys). For one of their best songs ever, I'm honestly still shocked at its lukewarm reception.

40.) Mariah Carey - #1 to Infinity
Cody Recommends: "Emotions" | "Vision Of Love" | "Fantasy"

39.) Olly Murs - Never Been Better
Cody Recommends: "Up" | "Did You Miss Me?" | "Beautiful To Me" | "Kiss Me"

38.) Shawn Mendes - Handwritten
Cody Recommends: "Stitches" | "Aftertaste" | "Something Big" | "I Know What You Did Last Summer"

37.) Five Knives - Savages
Cody Recommends: "Criminal" | "Savages" | "Ratatat"

36.) Steve Aoki - Neon Future II
Cody Recommends: "Darker Than Blood" | "Home We'll Go (Take My Hand)" | "I Love It When You Cry (Moxoki)"

Two of these albums have four recommendations: three from the standard edition and a fourth from the re-release. Mariah Carey's entry is essentially picking from a bag of chocolates as it's just a compilation of her #1's. Both Olly and Shawn re-released their albums this year so they have a fourth recommendation as a result; I was really excited for Olly's US release during the start of the year and he didn't disappoint, whereas Shawn provided the public with rehashes of "Life Of The Party" (which IMO is HORRIBLE), but he does give some redeeming songs.

Five Knives are one of two Cor Lupus acts to release albums this year, so naturally they charted here. I'm possibly considering a bunch of these for BJFest 2016. Steve Aoki wraps things up with the second edition to Neon Future - not sure if I'll chart the two-album repackage (maybe if James convinces me). "Darker Than Blood" is pretty much the best thing he's done this year (mainly because of Linkin Park).

Hey Cody! *.*

This page starts off amazingly with 'Black Magic'! Such a great/fun pop track, one of 2015's very best songs imo. <3

'Up' is lovely, one of Olly's best for sure.

'Sledgehammer'! I really wish 5H could have given this song a push here in the UK.

I have to admit I wasn't heavily into 'This Summer's Gonna Hurt...'. I actually enjoyed 'Sugar' a lot more. OOPS~

Nice to see some appreciation for '#1 to Infinity' annnnd you've highlighted my favourite track of hers: 'Fantasy'! (Although having said that, I much prefer the original version over the ODB version included on this release~).

I really wish they could have used the solo version due to most Mariah fans associating with that.

Non-album single
Chart Run: 41-14-10-5-6-11-15-17-17-21-29-37 (12 weeks)

Yes, I do love this song. For most of you who don't know this song (or haven't seen my giant Cody Christian Birthday Specials), this was made by Dance Moms star Kendall Vertes, who started a music career through Abby Lee Miller. The result? An incredibly campy track that swept Dance Moms fans everywhere. While there was a giant war over whose single would do the singer justice within the show, it seemed pretty obvious that a "Break The Rules"-esque gay anthem was going to win me over eventually. I don't know how it even get to my head; it was probably one of those random tracks that ends up doing well on my chart.

Adam_Lambert_-_Ghost_Town.jpg

69.) Adam Lambert - "Ghost Town"
Chart Points: 8446
Lead single, The Original High
Chart Run: 38-33-32-27-27-29-27-19-16-14-13-14-12-16-22-31-44 (17 weeks)

Everything about this song, from the airy production, to the whistling noises in the background, to Adam's scruffier attitude as opposed to the crystalline and sleek demeanor of the first two albums, just SCREAMS old Wester movie. It's like Adam is the John Wayne of his own type of gunslinging Wild West flick and the music is his trusty steed. A lot of artists tried the experimental future house and then some 1-2 punch for a comeback and every single time it's hit me perfectly. The video is... interesting in a way, and I'd highly recommend not watching it if you're prone to epileptic seizures. Otherwise, be my guest.
Actually now I figured out why Alesso isn't as high as I preferred. TONS OF JUNE ALBUMS.

 i've no idea what this means, but yay for the LM and 5H slayage :cheer: loving Sugar as well.

68.) Calvin Harris f/Ellie Goulding - "Outside"
Chart Points: 8960
3rd single, Motion
Chart Run: 1-3-4-3-6-11-11-14-14-10-8-6-8-10-12-13-16-21-26-29-34-43 (24 weeks (13 in 2015))

Here we have another 2014 carryover, let alone another one that reached #1; we have yet to see a 2015 #1 with a complete chart run within the entire year. Normally songs like this are screwed over by debuting late into a year and peaking early on in another year, but this stuck around long enough to do fairly well here. Anyway, it's another Calvin and Ellie collab, only at a higher BPM and with less positive critical acclaim. I actually like it a lot more than "I Need Your Love" which was nice as a summery vacation track, while this was a bit of an anthem coming into season 5 of Teen Wolf. I have hammered it a lot during the end of 2014, which explains its semi-long top 10 run, re-entry into the top 10 in the middle, and fast burn at the end of its run. You'll see more of Calvin and Ellie - in fact you'll see more of Taylor and her squad later in the countdown.

67.) Years & Years - "King"

Chart Run: 44-35-31-28-24-18-16-13-16-12-15-18-21-28-34-44 (16 weeks)

Okay. Years & Years. How can I say this without looking like a hater... I find them overrated. Their music is sublime but they're not the reigning messiahs, I'm sorry. However, you can't deny the fact that their songs are infectious and top-notch. It's both the production and Olly's voice that gives the perfect combination of seduction and euphoria that I look for in a song. And no Y&Y has given be that type of feeling more than "King" has - from the echoing intro to the last part of the chorus, it stays riveting throughout. It also helps that the production is pretty much a pseudo-house track.

66.) Flo Rida f/Sage The Gemini & Lookas - "GDFR"
Chart Points: 9090
Lead single, My House
Chart Run: 47-40-38-35-30-23-12-8-7-8-8-12-18-26-34-46 (16 weeks)

I remember there was one point where I thought I was the only person on Buzzjack who actually really liked this song. I think it has warmed up to some more people but I feel that it gets way too much hate than it really deserves i.e. none. Flo Rida is known for carefree bops that make everyone run to the center of the dance floor and start going crazy. The use of Lookas' remix of "Low Rider" was genius, and really glad Flo recruited this producer. Sage The Gemini was also pretty good in this, though the track is pretty consistent on its own, especially during the breakdown.

Pitbull_and_Ne-Yo_-_Time_of_Our_Lives.png

65.) Pitbull f/Ne-Yo - "Time Of Our Lives"
Chart Points: 9102
3rd single, Globalization
Chart Run: 29-25-20-19-13-12-13-11-14-15-15-23-37 (13 weeks)

This is another song that I thought I would be the only person to love it, and unlike "GDFR", I didn't see that many fans for this song. It seems like my tastes clashed with the rest of Buzzjack for the majority of the first quarter, oops. Anyway, this wasn't as stellar as "Give Me Everything" IMO, but it was good for what it's worth, and it was definitely worth hearing it for two New Year's Days in a row. Though the second one was mainly because it was one of the best songs of the year. If Pitbull keeps making shameless party anthems like these, he'll stay on my good side, but it looks like his days as a radio powerhouse may be numbered.
