It's obvious that the #1 song must do very well on streaming too. The download sales are down for 2 years in a row now. We will probably never see a song downloaded 100k times a week any more. People are just moving on to streaming and if a charity song is going to aim to #1, it must do well on streaming.

Surely it's more of a case of a rapid drop for the NHS Choir, as there's no reason for LY to become more popular?

But they won't have won much, given it was pretty much a foregone conclusion...

they have bet when the odds were much more

What channel and time is this on?.

is louisa in it?

if you want to listen, the interview will more than likely be just after 6pm tonight on capital (that is if they are still interviewing her seeing as its unlikely at the moment that she'll even be in the top 10 come this evening)

Louisa should give the show a miss, nothing positive to come out of it. [she's now #13, I guess #14 combined although not sure how the Big Top 40 baloney show calculates chart position).
£375 back off £300, ive never bet on my life but this seems like a no-brainer. He will be number 1 and by some distance.

Paddy power this morning but those odds are drifting. 1/5 now.

So you make £75 not bad, risky though! Anytime the NHS choir gets AirPlay it gets a huge jump and Bieber won't break 100k this week!

If she's sold enough to make the iTunes top 10 of the week they'll play her in the first part of the show, but then won't get played again later on, because I believe they then play the 11-40 of the week before playing the live top 10, and if anything has slipped out of the top 10 they slot it back in at 11 on the published chart online.

Yeah I'm tempted myself to make a similar sort of bet, but have to remind myself there's no such thing as free money and I wouldn't be able to afford to lose £300. Risk vs reward.

It may just be a blip but the latest Kworb update shows a jump for both NHS choir versions.

If I had money on Bieber I would be getting just a little nervous!

I think that when adding up both versions combined, Bieber is slightly ahead. I'm not really concerned, due to streaming the NHS choir needed to push Justin down to 0.5 and keep him there the whole week. It's just not going to happen. I have 40 quid that I put on him at 8/1 early last week, so I'm very happy.

Why though?

His streaming sales are going to far outweigh any impact the NHS choir has. They need to knock him down to be outselling him 2:1 to even have a chance

I think it's very unlikely however where money is involved it would be enough to sow the seeds of doubt in my mind.

Anyhow, I just want a 'proper' Christmas no.1 this year. No X-Factor/charity or campaign songs please.

I can't believe I'd ever see the day when i would be rooting for Justin Bieber to be no.1!

I did worry yesterday morning that there was going to be a surge of publicity for the NHS and that they would just snowball. It hasn't happened, and the longer the week goes on, the less chance it has of happening. I think the NHS choir is atrocious regardless of the cause and I'm glad it seems like it won't be no 1.

Louisa down to #16, getting to feel a bit sorry for her tbh

Just heard on Radio 1 so maybe it'll have a little boost...

Weird seeing 'Exchange' by Bryson Tiller down at #965. I've been hearing it a lot and has got a big positive Twitter reaction too. Makes me think it could do something if it picks up some airplay next year.

I had a similar feeling with songs like N*ggas in Paris and Loyal. Both released around Christmas time and did nothing initially despite their popularity. Once they had videos shot the next Spring, they became inescapable. I'd be surprised if Exchange matched that, but I'd be equally surprised if it did nothing.

Probably my favourite 'new' song right now anyway.

I was no fan of Louisa on the show and didn't particularly care whether she got to #1 or not but this is beyond awful for her. At least most contestants get that glory moment and have a year or so until their original material comes out before people start crying "flop". Absolutely shocking result. One minute she's being told she's the best thing since sliced bread and the next this. Poor girl.

Well the blame is not on the people who don't buy that song, but the people who told her she's the best contestant ever (that is Cowell)

I agree Cowell is full of it (being polite) and she's not the first to be set up for a big fall.

Its a mixture of things making this a failure though. The song, Louisa herself is not a very interesting winner (and as I said previously completely over hyped) and a little bit of XF fatigue thrown in. I don't think she would have won any other year (poor competition etc) but all that said I do have a little sympathy. It can't be easy to deal with.

It is a really really bad song and there is no getting around that for Louisa. No amount of airplay or exposure will change it because most people who hear it don't like it.

Agree but if a lot of people had connected with her during the show they would have bought the winners single to support her. They didn't get caught up in her "moment". Where are her core fans? She should have had an initial boost and then fallen away once people realised the song wasn't strong. First day sales were terrible in comparison to other winners. Not the first to get a dodgy song choice.
