All I wanna do is make you dance to this

30. Kitty - ♥ 285 ♥

31. Janet Jackson ft. Missy Elliot - BURNITUP!

32. Mabel – Know Me Better

The penultimate BJSC entry (from another country) bring us almost to the top 30. From a huge talent waiting in the wings of mass stardom, Mabel brought urban vibes, pop sentiments and her now trademark vocals in this stylish, majestic number. 'Know Me Better' is a wonderful song about wanting to progress further with someone. She sings of taking it all off and laying herself bare for the mystery admirer but it does so in a vulnerable, delicate way. I adore the ambigious male refrain throughout it, the smoothness of the instrumentation, the silky, suave vocals with she carries the entire song in the palm of her hand. It's truly a majestic, royal song that has introduced one of the most exciting prospects of the year. I am hoping she is recognised next year, there is so much more to know about her.

Janet's return to the scene was the quite understated 'No Sleeep', but never one to go quietly, she quickly picked up the pace and turned up the volume with this huge burner. Incredibly electrifying and joyous, teamed with Missy she let rip. The album is much more than what this song lets on but this is unadultered pop FUN and undeniably catchy and groovy. Even in the most complex, rich albums, you're allowed to enjoy yourself and with the huge Michael sentiments here, she does that and then some.

Kitty crawls back and helps kickstart a crazy top 30, and this is one of the craziest. Much like the song that featured from her earlier this took its time to work its magic on me, but it's a huge favourite now. As the song ebs and flows in the first 30 seconds, it's all anticipating the release of the remainder. Her "rapping" for want of a better word is done expertly as it is in every song she's done but that layered on top of the glittery dance beats result in pure magic. She sings in the song that she's gotten darker and yet all she wants to do is make you dance.. and she accomplishes it in almighty style. The incredible verses, the glorious chorus, an expert songstress and performer. Totally magical, enjoyable music - there is no one around like her right now.

Never knew loving could hurt this good

27. Rihanna - American Oxygen

28. Troye Sivan - WILD

29. Crywolf – Home We Made Pt. II (Skrux Remix)

My #1 song from BJSC from Crywolf makes it home finally. A glorious song, soaring me to new highs and deep lows with every listen. Frantic at times, reserved at other but throughout its entirety it is an adventure of attempting to reach base. A galactic exploration of how rich, layered and beautiful music can be with all the passion and emotion I could ask for. It's stuck with me throughout the year, whenever I feel I need to escape or get away, the song is there to take me away. An incredible listen, i'd say it was more than a song and more an experience.

Troye Sivan returns for the final time in the singles chart, the lead single from his incredible album and the insatiable 'WILD'. The song is a brilliant depiction of the direction the album takes as a whole, it's well-produced and vocalised, pop with haunting lyrics and beautiful melodies. 'WILD' is his most catchy song, its inability to do anything chart wise despite getting support is upsetting but not as much as the entire album going unnoticed by the general public :'( the most exciting male artist around for me right now, it only takes one listen of this song to go similarly wild for him and his style.

Perhaps a controversial inclusion, I struggle to find anyone else that properly appreciates the single-non-single from Rihanna's latest enigma of an album. For me 'American Oxygen' is an anthem by name and nature. It's easily the most accessible and overarching song we've heard from her latest album, but I don't rate in solely in comparison to those, but to her entire discography as a whole. Strong words, but the song really is technically brilliant and so well-thought out. It's an anthem for America but it becomes also a worker's anthem, an anthem for grafters, for people that are struggling, for those that are painfully working for a better life. If it doesn't get single treatment eventually, it'd rank quite firmly as her greatest album track alongside 'Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary'; Rih really is at her best when she's political and daring and this song is just that.

Fight for my love, you better stand up for me

13. Little Mix - Get Weird

Black Magic / I Love You / Lightning

14. Ciara - Jackie

Give Me Love / Dance Like We're Making Love / I Bet

The party R&B album of 2015 came from Ciara forever relegated to being completely ignored by the music buying public, but forming an formidable hit ratio with her album recently. The follow up to 2013's 'Ciara' is an all the more slicker affair. While that album was more punchy and in your face, this one is more laid back, working its magic over time rather than immediately. Songs like 'Give Me Love' are instant, the song is undeniably huge, but the richer moments of 'Dance Like We're Making Love' are brought to life more with the video that accompanied it and with repeated listens. The album is very fun, with fist-pumping moments and dancefloor filling anthems, she is on top of her game and has been for ages, it's just a shame that the public fail to recognise this.

Little Mix's latest offering was hotly anticipated from me after how big the singles from it were. In short, it didn't *quite* live up to the expectations that those songs left, but it was solid enough to impress me. The band have a way of coming across so likeable in their interviews, performances, videos and albums. It's full of the four-piece's own stamps, trademark soaring choruses, funky lyrics, and tongue-in-cheek moments of fun. They don't really take themselves too seriously, everything is so relaxed and as a result the album is a great, care-free listen. Perhaps there are too many ballads (which isn't a problem, unless they're forgettable ones like some on here) but that's when they really emote and I wouldn't want to take that away from them. And a special mention to Jesy.. not for the iconic faces she pulls, but for that stupendous moment 3/4 into 'I Love You' (2:30 onwards), a complete owning of the song and completely takes me by surprise every time. Stunning song brought to heart-breaking realness in this moment of pure glory and ecstasy.

Wasn't huge on American Oxygen, not surprised it flopped more specifically. She's leaving it an awful long time to release whatever's next mind!
Get Weird is really bland except for the singles and Lightning :(
the criminally underrated american oxygen making it onto your chart! also jackie is phenomenal

You put the PARTY tape on

24. Drake ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR - Preach

25. Miguel ft. Wale - Coffee (f***ing)

26. Ciara – Give Me Love

The first of three megaswag songs, from Ciara, the brashest most in-your-face song on the album. Not quite my favourite from the album as will be revealed soon, but the song that instantly filled me with most joy. From that all-encompassing opening verse, through the DJ-mustard-lite beat, through to that fierce pre-chorus and eventually in the (big :)) chorus, 'Give Me Love' is an incredible listen. Her vocals are outstanding, the instrumentation is fire and the song is undeniably catchy. She is making some of the best R&B of the moment and shockingly this remained a hidden album track, when it deserved to be a massive, huge-selling, club anthem :(

The highlight from Drake this year was when he teamed up with PARTYNEXTDOOR and sure enough, it's become a favourite of mine from him extending much beyond this year. 'Preach' is dark, seductive, glossy, and hugely intoxicating. The best bit of it is PARTYNEXTDOOR, his opening to the song is majestic, terrifying and alluring all at the same time and it sets up Drake's entrance perfectly. My only gripe is that, that is it.. he should've returned for another verse because he gets it so spot on at the start of the song. Still a massive song from an otherwise, understated era from the current Prince of urban music.

Miguel gave the most wtf song title of the year but you only need to listen to the song once to realise what he's getting at. The song is sexy as f***. His vocals are as smooth as the coffee he sings about, the lyrics are as hot as it and the song as a whole gives you a fix harder than any amount of caffeine can. I've chosen the Wale version here, it's the one that got me properly hooked to the song, and he offers a slight change of pace to the song but even without, it's a well-accomplished and produced urban banger. The chorus is always unexpected but always a delight and it all builds at perfect pace to that ultimate climax 3/4 of the way through.

Crywolf was a great BJSC entry  American Oxygen is, ok, oops  but the Get Wierd album :cheer: great stuff.

Hi Haus

Preach was definitely one of the better things to come from Drake's mixtape although Legend is my favourite track on there. Like you say, I just like how glossy it is and it really gets you into it. Wish we got more jams like it really.

Yay at Get Weird appreciation too and even more so, someone else who loves I Love You. I'm massive on SLS at the moment but ILY is still the stronger ballad imo and would've made a fantastic single, it's stunning! They've really made me turn into a fan this era though, such good pop from start to finish!

Lovely stuff Bal

Been following this since the start, Bal! Lovely to read your vivid words on everything as always (though I do draw a line with 'Love Me So' appreciation :nono:)!

I'd consider 'I Bet' and 'Coffee' to be two of the absolute best pure R&B tracks of the year - both expertly delivered and with such slow-burning, enduring appeal. <3

All the Kacy tracks are also highlights. Love your write-up of 'Arm's Length' and fully agree on the lyrics/wanting more~

Give Me Love is such a jam, just posted it in my own EOY actually! I really wish it had been a single (I assume that's it for the Jackie singles as it's been a while and DLWML didn't do much), it was originally said to be the follow-up to I Bet but nothing came of it :(

Glad to see some appreciation for 'Preach' and 'I Love You'! The latter especially seems to be going so ignored in general but it's the album highlight for me now <3

Feeling like I'm breathing my last breath

11. Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams

Up&Up / Adventure of a Lifetime / Fun

12. Justin Bieber - Purpose

Sorry / The Feeling / Children

The dominating force of Bieber had his control over the Haus too. I've been a fan of him musically since the 'Believe' era, an era where as the title suggests he was looking out into the future for what could've happened. Here in 'Purpose' a lot HAS happened and he now takes an all together more retrospective turn. Songs like 'Life Is Worth Living', 'Children', 'Purpose' and 'Sorry', he sings of how his music can change circumstances and how it's had an affect on him as a person. The album lays the artist bare all of his secrets are brought out and for such a controversial figure, the result is quite startling. He has a heart, he wants to change, he has regrets, he is still growing and the album is a homage to anyone that has felt the same. He's far from perfect, as is the album, but it's triumphant and charts his rise and fall, and further fall perfectly and it's the album we all needed to understand the troubled star a bit more than what the media conveys. It's more than album for him in that sense, it's a confession (and a damn funky one at that!).

Is it the final album or not? Certainly the music seems to suggest that it is Coldplay's swansong. The lyrics when you consider it as a big goodbye are brought to cutting realness and given a huge spark of invigorating power. But even without that sentiment the album is joyous and uplifting (something haters will never appreciate from the band! they can be fun too!!1) and at times incredibly moving. 'Up&Up' as the final track on the album, and possibly the final track from them altogether is the most fitting send off going. It's a totally unadultered, explosive, momentous occasion, full of celebratory and nostalgic glee.

Purpose so low :o What a FLOP stan! :D

YASS at WILD though  and the Ciara appearances!

It was actually the album I moved around the most while compiling this. Was as high as #08 earlier but I listened to bits of a few of them and it kept dropping :snif: He's still to make an appearance shortly though ^_^
