Really impressed Jack has gone to #1 on iTunes, and so fast. I didn't expect that. However, hes' only #47 on Amazon, so it looks like he's a predominantly digital seller.

So, he'll get some small boost from being mentioned in the ceremony, but less than some of his big rivals at the top.

I'm not really sure why it's pointless, it's no doubt given a lift to the careers of all winners so far. I imagine even Jack Garratt is doing better than he would otherwise because it's got his name out there.

 

Typically the host will speak to the winner and say that they've won the award but otherwise, that's it. James Bay performed at the after party last year though and that gave Hold Back the River a pretty nice boost!

I think they should be allowed to perform in the main ceremony, this reads like you're not famous yet so you're not performing, think it would be a nice promo for them if allowed for instance as first performer of the night, but of course they care more big names even if they make irrelevant music (e.g. Madonna)

I agree that they should be allowed to perform but I don't think it's fair to say that the most successful female singer ever makes irrelevant music :P Madonna's a huge name regardless of how much commercial radio success she gets these days. That's the only thing making her "irrelevant" in this day and age.

The album was a flop too - really just a high first week fan base sale.

I never said #26 was great, I said it was better than what it would've got without the performance :P I mean, it got very little Capital support and nothing from Radio 1.
