Honey has been the Katy B song on the 1Xtra playlist for the last few weeks so I did assume that was the single.

Little Mix feat. Sean de Paul - Hair is TOTD today :cheer:

makes sense that it is with Sunday having the Cel Spellman pop hits show.

[aside: I was listening to R1 today whilst making cupcakes and they seemed to be doing nothing but the big weekend montage competition, making for really uninteresting presenting :nocheer:]

They usually have amazing line ups, but this one I find a bit dull.
I'm dreading the next couple of months on Radio 1 cos literally everything's gonna be about the Big Weekend, they treat it like nothing else exists outside of it.
The only thing that makes me excited about this is that they'll probably push Nick Jonas' Close.
Huh? I'm confused, I thought the Big Weekend Mashup was the TOTD, not Tom Odell?

It was the Big Weekend Mash Up, I'm not sure where people got that he was TOTD yesterday, the Mash Up was correctly listed on the website!

Tom is, however, TOTD today!

the TOTD playlist page had Tom as TOTD yesterday... that's why the confusion...

Its ridiculous to have a Big Weekend Mash-up as TOTD anyway imo.

Hottest Record in the World 18/4/16

Laura Mvula Phenomenal Woman

Second single from the upcoming second album from the British soulstress - sounding brillant on first listen. I have been very impressed by what Ive heard from her so far and am looking forward to buying the album on the 17th June.

I'm not sure what to think of that. If it means some upcoming American/European hits are going to get ignored simply because they have to have a certain amount of British acts on the playlist and don't have enough room for them then I'm not a fan. Also, Radio 1 already play loads of British acts.

Radio 1 could sort that by making the playlist as varied and expansive as it used to be, on some weeks we get 4 additions or something and it's resulted in this restricted pit of quagmire we now have before us.

All I see them doing with this is probably helping create an endless list of "vaguely indie" one hit wonders.

This could really be a smart move or a really dumb move....I would just prefer it if they expanded their playlist again lol
