Perfect is probably the best of their current era so far, probably because it sounds a little like Style. Still nothing groundbreaking though. Would have preferred it swapped a top 5 place with Night Changes tbh.

Predz:

  1. Story Of My Life
  2. What Makes You Beautiful
  3. Best Song Ever
  4. Kiss You
  5. Night Changes

My ranking:

  1. What Makes You Beautiful (despite going old and outdated this is still a jam :music: )
  2. Story Of My Life
  3. Kiss You (this is catchy but cringy at the same time  :| )
  4. Best Song Ever (same again really)
  5. Night Changes

I can't believe how low 'One Thing' is. :(

'Live While We're Young' is the only average one in the top 10 for me, 'Kiss You' to win as the best thing they've ever done!

05. Kiss You

Average: 8.322

Highest Rates: 11: (Jimmy Jam, Mr Pmt, MIKEMYER), 10: (Joseph Carey, Acidburn, Kylie Jackson, AdventAloud, Bartsimpson, James Silkstone, Christmas Jay), 9.5/9: (Beatrix Kiddo, Maurince Pie, Doboggan, Slick, Snowbot, Taylor Jago)
Lowest Rates: -1: (Ultra Christmas), 4: (***)

At #5 we lose the last of another era, Kiss You, released in January 2013 as the 3rd and final single from their 2nd album Take Me Home. Again this is another song that was higher and was even at the runner up spot at one point, and looked to settle for a top 3 placing, but the -1 spiked it's average and caused it to drop, but at least it still managed a top 5 placing. This is definitely one of their best and well known hits of their career's, with it's rapid verses and infectious chorus. In fact this probably ranks as the catchiest song they have ever done with it's bouncy beat that always causes a roaring reception at their concerts. Along with a music video that's just as fun with it's nods to classics from the 60's such as The Beach Boys and Elvis Presley that drips in pure delightful cheese that's totally intentional. So on the whole everything about this is just iconic. Upon release it wasn't one of their bigger hits but did manage a successful #9 peak in the UK, as well as top 10 peaks in Ireland and Scotland. In the USA it had moderate success by reaching #46 becoming their 5th single to chart there. Elsewhere it managed top 20 peaks in Turkey, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Japan and South Africa. Then finally top 40 peaks in 5 other countries.

Shame Night Changes is still in and yay for the shirtless Niall gif :cheer:

04. Best Song Ever

Average: 8.403

Highest Rates: 11: (Snowbot), 10: (Joseph Carey, Acidburn, Jimmy Jam, Liam, Beatrix Kiddo, Mr Pmt, Maurince Pie, Kylie Jackson, Bartsimpson, Slick, Fgiboy2511, MIKEMYER, James Silkstone, KWEEN DEE, Taylor Jago), 9: (J*hq, AdventAloud, Davidson, HausofTyne, Christmas Jay)
Lowest Rates: 0: (***, UltraChristmas), 4: (Adam's Satsuma)

At #4 we have Best Song Ever, released in July 2013 as the lead single from their 3rd album Midnight Memories. Yes it's often compared to Baba O' Riley by The Who, but who cares and that's was the point really as this song is just a hell of a lot of fun and came at the height of 1D mania that spread throughout the entire world, as well as building hype for their record breaking film This Is Us, to which this was also the lead soundtrack single for. The song itself quips full of fun innuendos and while it may not be the best song ever, it's pretty damn great. The music video is definitely their most adventurous yet with the boys holding down comedic acting pretty well, and Zayn as a girl looks pretty damn hot. Upon release of course it became a smash hit reaching #2 in the UK and the USA, their highest charting hit in the latter. Elsewhere it managed #2 peaks in Ireland, Canada, Denmark, Scotland and Turkey, as well as top 5 peaks in Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Hungary, Mexico and Netherlands, then finally top 10/20 peaks in 12 other countries. Originally this was set for a #3 place, but the 2nd 0, caused it to fall, but still managed several high scores with an 11, 14 10's, 5 9's and 3 8's.
Night Changes top 3?! No way!

03. Night Changes

Average: 8.403 (More 11's)

Highest Rates: 11 (Fgiboy2511, UltraChristmas), 10: (Joseph Carey, Acidburn, Beatrix, Kiddo, Kylie Jackson, MIKEMYER, HausofTyne, Joe), 9.5/9: (Jimmy Jam, AdventAloud, Mr Pmt, J*hq, Riser, Christmas Jay)
Lowest Rates: 3.5: (Taylor Jago), 6.5/6: (Adam's Satsuma, Doboggan, MerryFlynnmas)

At the #3 spot we have Night Changes, released in November 2014 as the 2nd and final single from their 4th album Four. This was also the last single to feature Zayn Malik as he left 4 months after this was released. This scored the same as "BSE", but is placed higher due to it scoring one more 11 and also this has proved to be quite the dark horse throughout the scoring process, as during the first half this was at the lower end of the top 10, but has steadily climbed as the weeks went on. This also marks quite a different contrast to the album's lead single as this is a lot more subdued with smooth harmonies and softer music, that's more grown up than their past hits and makes this one of their best ballads of their careers. It's the type of song that gets better with each listen and has definitely earned it's place in the top 3 here. Even loved the video to this where each member is shot in POV and marks a certain sadness that this is the last video of all 5 of them together. Another downer was that there weren't anymore singles from the brilliant album to follow this, originally "Where Do Broken Hearts Go", was gonna follow this, but never happened and there was even a fan petition to get "No Control" released as well, but nothing ever came of it, which is a shame as they both would have made fantastic singles. Upon release the song became their 11th UK top 10 hit by reaching #7 and in the USA it became their 9th top 40 hit, reaching a #31 peak. Elsewhere it managed top 20 peaks in New Zealand, Ireland, Czech Republic and Canada, and top 40 peaks in Slovakia, Spain, Australia and Sweden.

It just HAS to be WMYB.

Night Changes  Gorgeous song, so glad to see it mostly universally loved here!
