Well, apparently being #2 combined on iTunes only gets Little Mix to #23, but at least it's their biggest hit from Get Weird now. 'Secret Love Song' is now their third-highest-charting single behind 'Wings' (#15) and 'Move' (#12). Sia matches the peak of 'Chandelier' with 'Cheap Thrills' at #3. Broods also had a very good week on iTunes but only manage a #30 debut.

Even more drastic, Broods were #1 on iTunes during the week and only wound up at #30, but hey, finally an NZ artist in the charts! Seems though that NZ doesn't get enough (any?) regional content promotion on Spotify, so instead they just get the same stuff as Australia. Kind of awkward that if Free takes off, it'll essentially be only because they're also popular in Aus :wacko:

G'won Fifth Harmony! New Zealand is only the second country to give them a #1 single so far, the other being the Netherlands. Little Mix also climb into the top 20 making this a good week for girl groups. Nick Jonas has the impressive feat of his three singles charting at #8 (Jealous), #16 (Levels), and #24 (Close), but of course the latter will likely keep climbing. Deftones is a slight surprise #1 album, topping the chart in both NZ and Australia. They had a #2 album in 2003 but the other three since then all peaked at #8.

YAY for Walking On Cars, great new entry on the singles chart. 'One Dance' is the fourth song to have 8 weeks at #1 since last year, following 'See You Again', 'What Do You Mean?', and '7 Years', plus there's 'Love Yourself' which managed 10 weeks. This time last year, the chart had a different #1 for 8 weeks in a row! On the albums, Nick Jonas improves massively on the #35 peak of his previous album, and The Temper Trap match the peak of their previous album. They've yet to chart higher than #25 here. Aaaaand I didn't even notice Fifth Harmony go from #8 to out of the top 40 in its second week. :mellow: Actually, their last album did the exact same thing! #8 in its first week and then it never returned to the top 40, so for 7/27 to re-enter is actually an improvement.

It looks like the Album chart is now including Streams judging from all the climbs?

Yep. NZ has just started including streams for albums. They also have Heatseekers Albums charts, just like the singles. There, Hamilton, Tom Odell and Christina Grimmie's EP made the list.

 

Also, certifications for singles have increased to 15,000 units for Gold (combined sales/streaming equivalent) and 30,000 units for Platinum. Yep. NZ has just started including streams for albums. They also have Heatseekers Albums charts, just like the singles. There, Hamilton, Tom Odell and Christina Grimmie's EP made the list.

 

Also, certifications for singles have increased to 15,000 units for Gold (combined sales/streaming equivalent) and 30,000 units for Platinum. About time too, as virtually any single which have made the charts in four weeks was a guaranteed Gold. The album certification thresholds remains the same. :lol: :lol:

Also wow I hadn't been keeping count of Drake's weeks :o I wonder if he could end up staying on top even longer than in the UK given how heavily streaming impacts the NZ Charts.
