February 9, 20169 yr Adam Sandler love *.* So underrated, Blended was in my top 3 last year! Will do a longer comment later
February 9, 20169 yr Wait, UV hates Kevin Hart but loves Adam Sandler? :') Loved San Andreas, I wasn't very excited going into it cos I didn't consider myself a Dwayne fan and thought it could end up being a pile of poo but it was actually very tense and exciting to watch, really outdid my expectations. Ioan Gruffudd meeting his comeuppance was a highlight :kink:. Happy to see The Walk so high! Seems really underrated with how poorly it performed at the box office. :( Love JGL and the actual walk was incredible to watch, I assumed that we weren't going to see him fall to his death but to see it in real life where you had no idea what might happen..I can hardly imagine what it would've been like.

Haha, I love that moment when that massive just lands right on top of him, so much satisfaction  More people really should've seen the Walk, it was so underrated and one of the most tense films of last year. If I was a loved one, I'd have probably fainted watching it once he started going back and forth :drama: Thanks Jahq! Ghost Protocol is worth it for these two moments alone tbh http://i.imgur.com/ix1wGyO.gif http://i.imgur.com/tt7zzGV.gif I rather liked San Andreas, Kylie's cameo had me in stitches  much as I love her, she can't really act for shit. Is that Jeremy Renner's bottom? Didn't really have a crush before but oo Kylie is like one of my favourite things in San Andreas, just so bad it's quite cute  Thanks Regina! Adam Sandler love *.* So underrated, Blended was in my top 3 last year! Will do a longer comment later  Blended was probably in my top 20/30 last year, it was quite funny but then I didn't watch as many movies in 2013 either. Thanks UV!
February 10, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/JPjrwPL.jpg 26. Brooklyn I didn't have loads and loads of hype for this going on but I was just so utterly charmed by the whole story that I was immersed from as soon as it started. Saoirse Ronan was phenomenal at playing such a delicate character lost in an unfamiliar world and I much preferred her performance to Rooney Mara's off a similar nature in Carol. Emory Cohen was one of the most likeable characters in 2015 film too and just so charming, that was my only real problem with the film that it seemed almost unrealistic that she would want to stay in Ireland with Domhnall Gleeson's character when her husband in the US was such a perfect fit for her. It had humour (mainly provided by Julie Walters), emotion (sister's death and the tough decisions that followed) and just so many themes that hit hard about where your home really is. http://i.imgur.com/VaSLJKt.jpg 27. Home This is one movie that just started so promisingly but the reason I can't put it much higher is due to the fact that it just got a bit boring/cliché towards the end. The Boovs were such great characters and there were so many visual gags that I really appreciated, my favourite was when they actually cooked the cookbook because they took the title as instructions  The whole journey was fun to follow as well and the two leads were very sweet but then I don't know, it was just a bit like oh he's going to come back for her, how unpredictable [/sarcastic] so the ending wasn't as great as the rest for me. http://i.imgur.com/ggCXKRy.jpg 28. Focus All things hustle actually really intrigue me, it's not like I want to be one or anything but finding out about tricks of the trade and watching people do it just interests me so I was always going to like this. I loved the whole scene about how they set up the rich guy to pick the right number jersey was so clever and those sorts of things just make me go wow. Some of the stuff like when Will first starts hustling Margot and they just show him with a purse in his hand and not how he actually did it were a bit infuriating but there were plenty of interesting explanations to come and twists too, by the end you didn't know who anybody was working for or whether they had a facade or not which was quite thrilling and fun to try and work out. http://i.imgur.com/FO5mHGa.jpg 29. Ted 2 Another comedy that works so well because of the cast and a few great jokes thrown in too. Mark Wahlberg is really good on comedies surprisingly so yay at him coming back for this sequel and Ted is just funny because he's so potty-mouthed. I thought Amanda Seyfried was a good addition too because she's so likeable and had a good few one liners as well. I loved how clueless she was at pop culture and she fell for it when they called her Gollum and told her it was a supermodel  The confusion over 'F.(uck)' Scott Fitzgerald was another highlight! Cocoa Brown was really good too and I wish we saw more of her, the way she delivered 'you in the river washing your clothes, titties just hanging' was hilarious  http://i.imgur.com/gW9gj5P.jpg 30. The Night Before Seth Rogen is probably my favourite and most consistent comedian actor out there, he always puts out a bit of good fun with some really funny jokes interspersed amongst a nice little storyline and some great chemistry. I thought the three leads vibed off each other so well and it was lovely to see Jillian Bell pop up too, she has massive comedic talent so I hope we see more of her. The church scene was my favourite scene because it was just joke after joke, the bit where he hisses at the child and the child swears back had me in stitches and the sexting on the wrong phone was hilarious too. Not one of the most different comedies ever but plenty to enjoy and a great cast.
February 10, 20169 yr 3 of my absolute favourites of 2015 in a row there! Focus was great and loved the Margot/Will combo, they we're so good together! Home is so incredibly underrated and my favourite animation this year, so much fun and I would have nominated it for Best Picture for the Buzzjack Awards but it would have never have gotten in so I went with something that had a better chance :( And of course Brooklyn is easily my favourite this year, such a beautiful and enchanting movie with a fantastic script and incredible performances

Inside Out is definitely my top animation but Home had some good jokes and cute characters but I just wasn't as huge on the end. It did have some good performances, Saoirse Ronan definitely had one of my favourite of the year and Emory Cohen was so likeable in his role too, almost made it seem unrealistic that she even considered staying home with Domnhall Gleeson when she had such a nice guy in America! Thanks UV!
February 13, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/67CI6MG.jpg 21. Sisters This was probably one of the most consistent comedies of this year, a lot of the jokes landed although a few of the 'your vagina' etc. jokes started to fall flat towards the end and lacked the intelligent wit that other parts had. It was lovely to see Maya Rudolph pop up too, she is so good in comedies so I wish they made a bigger role for her, one of my favourite jokes was about her belt and how it looked like a championship wrestling one  The two leads were so good too and had such great chemistry after all the years working together, I loved how they had all these jokes about other people, especially the ones about their parents selling the house. John Cena's cameo was hilarious too, 'my safe-word is keep going' is probably one of my favourite lines this year, excellently delivered too with his dead-pan face  http://i.imgur.com/xlCBauT.jpg 22. Carol One of the best dramas of the year and incredibly overlooked when it came to this year's Best Picture at the Oscars, it's way better in a lot of aspects than stuff like Bridge of Spies and The Big Short in my opinion. One of the most romantic and realistic love stories in film for years, you were gripped by both characters and even as a viewer you can't resist Cate Blanchett's sensual voice/movements or Rooney Mara's delicate young lady. The dinner table scene at the end was so well done and you wanted them to be together so badly you were almost screaming 'say something Therese!'. The settlement scenes to do with Carol's daughter were really well done, the problems that lesbians faced not too long ago hits even harder when you can see children and loved ones involved. http://i.imgur.com/V5GKU57.jpg 23. Chappie One of the more divisive films this year but personally, I really liked it. It worked best when following the character of Chappie and personally Sharlto Copley did one of the best voice performances of the year, he made the character seem so sweet and young and every bad thing he did, you felt so bad for him as he was being lead down the wrong path without knowing it. Another character with a lot of disagreement is Yolandi, one of my favourite female supporting characters this year and I love her wacky yet very loving performance, it was nice to see her be a gangster character but become so defensive over Chappie. Some of the scenes following Chappie's story of growing up were my favourite like learning how to speak and being left behind and finding his way back home really tugged on your heartstrings but the film really fell apart for me in the end where it just became a generic action movie which was disappointing after how unique and intriguing all the characters had been from the start, I feel like the ending was almost boring because it was just bog-standard action. Hugh Jackman was quite bad too in this which was a bit annoying seeing as everyone else did a good job. http://i.imgur.com/JHBwjyB.jpg 24. Get Hard This was just a comedy that I enjoyed way more than I was expecting, I probably laughed at this film more than any other this year, there were some one liners that were so unexpectedly hilarious, Will Ferrell's 'blackface?' line had me rewinding just like what? that was so unexpected! I liked both leads and Kevin Hart also had his moments too, I loved it when the wife started slapping him when he pushed his luck. I can see where people are coming from saying this has racist tones but for me it was all done in jest and clearly no offense was intended so I was able to laugh at some of the jokes, it was all a bit of a bonkers concept but it had some good laughs and that's all I really look for in a comedy. http://i.imgur.com/4pd1Q7Y.jpg 25. Minions I was kind of dreading going into this because I loved the characters in the Despicable Me movies and was perturbed by all the reviews but I ended up loving them even more when they're the sole focus of the movies. I'm not going to lie and say all the humour was clever but there was definitely some moments and it was clever the way they were able to tell a whole story with minimal dialogue in places. My favourite example of a funny joke was when the news report announced 'Bob, who appears to be a bald jaundiced child' which was so quick but I caught it and thought it was nice to have those sorts of jokes in kids films too. The language of minion and the characters themselves are just so adorable so I loved following their little spin-off tale and there were plenty of jokes to keep me entertained, I'd probably rank this as the best movie in the franchise although I haven't seen the other two recently to make a proper judgement.
February 13, 20169 yr JGL's elf face is one of my favourite movie moments of last year. The church and wrong phone scenes were great as you say, as was the bit with Miley but it didn't have as much going for it as some other comedies for me and some of the humour relied too much on the drug stuff. Focus seems to be quite appreciated on here by those who've seen it but I found it pretty dull tbh. Marky Mark  Ted 2 was great but not as much as the first one imo. Brooklyn, my favourite movie of last year, it had everything from humour to emotion to Irish accents. So charming and I loved the full circle aspect of the ending (much like Carol). Sisters, I'll agree that it was consistent (consistently sub-par) :kink: Expected so much more from the leads and Bobby Moynihan was so annoying in it. Much like Die Antwoord in Chappie. Minions, I love them but I didn't think it worked with them stretched out over a full movie, it was another disappointment for me. :( Get Hard I debated over seeing when I had some spare time but I steered clear in the end, it just didn't look great and neither lead is anywhere near to drawing me in based on name alone.

I thought Focus was really thrilling, had me hooked on where the next twist would turn or how they would hustle their way out of the next problem. I agree with you on Ted, I think the first just had more surprise factor because we hadn't seen the bonkers character of Ted before. Irish accents yay, it did have a good few laughs too, one of the most homely films of the year which I liked it for, I just thought Carol was a more beautiful tale. Bobby Moynihan ended up a bit OTT by the end but some of his parts were hilarious to begin with, I wouldn't say he ruined it for me. Die Antwoord were fantastic Jahq </3 Get Hard is quite good for the two leads involved, has some laugh out loud moments and is over quickly, not my fave comedy though, there are still a couple left. Thanks!!!
February 14, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/m7pwS9y.jpg 16. Pitch Perfect 2 You can't help but get wrapped in all the campness of the Pitch Perfect movies because they have everything, they're funny, have great music, likeable characters and are just so much fun. I liked the new characters, Flo was actually my favourite despite some of the racist jokes, I still thought they were funny and the actress delivered them well. Fat Amy of course is one of my favourite characters in film and Rebel Wilson delivers an amusing performance every time, I love her relationship with Bumper too and he's a great character as well, like Jahq says, his The Voice audition in the credits was just hilarious and I like that Adam Devine doesn't mind laughing at himself. I really liked the music again too and all the mash-ups, personally I'd have picked Das Sound Machine as the winners though and it's kind of hard to believe the Bellas won apart from it being a movie and them being the focus, seems like they weren't half as good in the actual final round. http://i.imgur.com/JhQ9Uwb.jpg 17. Hotel Transylvania 2 I hadn't seen the first one but the day I was going to see this, I think they were showing it on CITV so I had a little movie marathon almost which was nice, I grew to love all the characters in the first so it was great to see them all return for the next chapter. This definitely worked well because there was progression in the story now that there's a child involved and I loved the whole is he/is he not a vampire predicament. The world they've built is so nteresting to watch with all of your favourite monsters in one place that you can't help but love every minute. I loved so many of the jokes in it, some of it actually feels clever, my favourites being the toothbrush with a gap in it for the vampires and Bigfoot being an excellent goalkeeper  The ending was so pleasing too just to see all the monsters come together and get all the baddies, I feel like the ending is a problem with a lot of animated movies but this one got it spot on in the sense it was just so gratifying. http://i.imgur.com/uteZg0U.jpg 18. The Martian This is a movie that is this high because the highs were so good but it's probably the only movie in the top 20 that I got a little bored in when it became to be more about the team on Earth in places because the audience just wanted to see more of Mark Watney and is excellent personality surviving back up on Mars. The story was compelling from the start and you always wanted to see what he could do next to overcome the next problem and during Watney's journey there was never one boring moment because it was so clever to see him create life and survive on Mars alone! All of the effects were excellently done and seemed so realistic so this was more of an all-round great story and my only problem was not more focus on Mars itself. http://i.imgur.com/fZFdKEa.jpg 19. Love & Mercy This is one that I expect a lot of you haven't seen but you really, really should. I don't really know much about the Beach Boys apart from the odd song so didn't think I'd really get this but they had way more recognisable songs than I thought so I enjoyed all the studio scenes and the focus of the film is really Brian Wilson's struggle with his mental health which was very interesting to see unfold and how it got worse under the obsessive control of Paul Giamatti's character who I thought was excellently played. There's a shot whe Melinda walks in and you see Brian sitting there exhausted and Giamatti screaming at him to produce some good music that is really distressing to watch, you really despise his character. Paul Dano was excellent in his, such a good performance and I can't believe it was overlooked at the Oscars, by far my favourite supporting performance of the year ecause you could see how he started off fine and then slowly his mental health deteriorated and nobody realised until later in life. I didn't really know anything about Brian Wilson other than hearing his name but his story is very emotional and one that definitely deserved to be told, it's such a shame more people didn't see this. http://i.imgur.com/xEMxf5n.jpg 20. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. When the trailers dropped for this, I was telling everyone it was that last thing I'd be watching because it looked really boring but Dad was interested in this so we went with the rest of the family one day and I unexpectedly oved it. All the big plot twists and reveals were exciting and not boring like they were in stuff like Spectre. The main characters were so good too, all so engaging on screen, you didn't want them to even split up so you could watch all three of them. Henry Cavill nailed the role, so charismatic and suave, he really suited it, as did Armie Hammer as the Russian spy, they made a good duo in those scenes, especially in those scenes were the latter as in trouble and Cavill was just enjoying his sandwich in the truck  Alicia Vikander was excellent as usual too, just so much style and I loved that she was involved so much. This movie was a such a good spy movie ecause it just had so much more charm than all the others and the lead didn't look bored (cough Spectre).
February 14, 20169 yr Sebby robbed of an Oscar nom for The Martian tbh -_- as was Jessica Chastain. #DownWithKateMara
February 14, 20169 yr Haven't seen Love And Mercy but love all the other 4 in that section! The ensemble in Man From U.N.C.L.E is excellent
February 15, 20169 yr Author Want to see Chappie and a lot there tbh Chappie is so good, shame so many people hate it but the character is so good and the kooky-ness of the supporting cast only helps improve it for me! Thanks Harry! Sebby robbed of an Oscar nom for The Martian tbh -_- as was Jessica Chastain. #DownWithKateMara I wouldn't say it was Oscar nom worthy :P but he was solid as usual, I actually preferred him in Ricki and the Flash tbh. Jessica Chastain is ALWAYS good though. Thanks Regina! Haven't seen Love And Mercy but love all the other 4 in that section! The ensemble in Man From U.N.C.L.E is excellent  Love & Mercy is really good, you should definitely watch if it comes on Netflix or Sky Movies! I did love all the cast in UNCLE, all three leads especially were just so stylish. Thanks UV!
February 15, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/HyYcPvP.jpg 11. Ex Machina This movie had me thinking all about A.I. and the character of Ava for weeks after I'd watched this, did she really use Caleb? or was Caleb A.I. too? or what happened to Ava next? The movie was just so thought-provoking which is the main reason I really liked it. Alicia Vikander was phenomenal and it's a shame she didn't get the Oscar nom for it due to The Danish Girl because each movement by Ava was cleverly calculated to persuade Caleb to help her and she was also really unnerving, you didn't know how she'd act when the cameras were off or if she misinterpreted a comment. Oscar Isaac was excellent in this too, so many questions as to whether he was a bad guy or not and he would make you laugh and be petrified within a couple of seconds on screen. http://i.imgur.com/KI9akC7.jpg 12. Whiplash This is yet another movie I just thought would be rubbish, drumming doesn't interest me and jazz is even worse so I thought this would be the last thing I'd enjoy but it was just SO intense. I was on the edge of my seat in alll the drumming scenes, it sounded the same to me each time but to see the character that J. K. Simmons played just rip the apart was so extreme, he was fantastic and every time he walked into the room on screen, even your body tensed up in the audience, some of his insults were actually quite funny too which I liked such as 'That is not your boyfriend's dick, so don't come too early.' and 'just play faster than you give f***ing hand jobs, will you please?' The whole car crash scene onwards was just so great because you could see how the adrenaline was pushing him to run there and do an insanely good drum solo when in reality he should have been resting up in hospital but that's how much he wanted and how much Terence had pushed him. http://i.imgur.com/sSLBWVm.jpg 13. Straight Outta Compton This is one movie that I'd written off and just thought it would be a movie with a long runtime that was just about rapper's lives (e.g. fkn bitches, get money etc. like we here in all rap songs nowadays), especially as I hadn't heard an N.W.A. track in my life but I ended up loving every second and wished it was longer. One thing that surprised me the most was how they actually used music to fight problems like racism, the scene where they get harrassed by the police and the go and write f*** Tha Police is one of my favourites because it just encapsulates everything they were fighting for. The acting was excellent across the board, my personal favourite being O'Shea Jackson, Jr. who just embodied Ice Cube perfectly, helps being his son I expect but still so good. Jason Mitchell was also fantastic, I didn't know anything about Eazy-E so the death scene just completely threw me. I thought this movie perfectly balanced all aspects of the band from their message, to their personal lives and careers, as well as humour and a very engaging storyline. http://i.imgur.com/hlfBcz5.jpg 14. Still Alice This one of those movies that just completely breaks your heart, it's so horrible to see someone deteriorate in health as the movie goes on, especially with a disease like Alzheimer's when the lead character is a talented linguistics professor. There were just so many moments when I felt the tears welling up, the biggest one where Alice needs the toilet but she just can't remember where it is and ends up weeing herself, it was so hard sad to see and Julianne Moore acted so well throughout, a thoroughly deserving winner of the Oscar last year. The parts where she filmed the video saying when you can't answer these questions anymore, go and find these pills and take them all was just so emotional. http://i.imgur.com/HANkNt5.jpg 15. Daddy's Home I expect this would be nowhere near this high on pretty much anyone's list but for me it had so much heart and some great jokes that I even went to see it twice. It seemed from the trailer that all the best jokes had been shown but each one is improved in the actual film like Will Ferrel going into the house on the motorbike but then popping out the top window too  The whole daddy's dance act was hilarious too, the bit where the kid starting hitting the girl was hilarious. I absolutely loved the ending too with John Cena turning up, it was so satisfying to see Mark Wahlberg get his karma, I'd love to see a sequel with all three of the dads and the jokes sort of write themselves then, they'd be silly not to do a sequel too after how unexpectedly successful this has been.
February 15, 20169 yr Author So that leaves me top 10 containing these movies: Ant-man Avengers: Age of Ultron Big Hero 6 Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Inside Out Jurassic World Kingsman: The Secret Service Mad Max: Fury Road Spy Star Wars: The Force Awakens Any predictions or hopes? :P
February 15, 20169 yr 15. Daddy's Home I expect this would be nowhere near this high on pretty much anyone's list but for me it had so much heart and some great jokes that I even went to see it twice. You're fooling no one Joshy, as if the jokes were the reason you went to see it twice :P! Very happy to see Still Alice so high, stunning / heartbreaking and in my own personal top 10. Can't pick faults in Whiplash or Ex Machina either. Hopes: that Mad Max and Avengers are next to leave :kink: And for a Kingsman/Inside Out top 2 (add in Big Hero 6 and that's three we share in the top 10)
February 15, 20169 yr Ex_Machina and Whiplash are incredible and Still Alice was so powerful so fantastic to see all three movies here  Fantastic top 10, seen all of them and hoping for a Star Wars 7 or Spy win!
February 15, 20169 yr I'm going to predict that you're one of the reasons we have 'Spy' in the awards so I'm going to predict top 3/5 at the least for that! ;D I'll do a proper comment soon, I think I'm going to go and watch 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.' coz I've heard very good stuff about it and everyone I know seems to prefer it far more to 'Spectre' which was poo.
