27. Home

This is one movie that just started so promisingly but the reason I can't put it much higher is due to the fact that it just got a bit boring/cliché towards the end. The Boovs were such great characters and there were so many visual gags that I really appreciated, my favourite was when they actually cooked the cookbook because they took the title as instructions  The whole journey was fun to follow as well and the two leads were very sweet but then I don't know, it was just a bit like oh he's going to come back for her, how unpredictable [/sarcastic] so the ending wasn't as great as the rest for me.

28. Focus

All things hustle actually really intrigue me, it's not like I want to be one or anything but finding out about tricks of the trade and watching people do it just interests me so I was always going to like this. I loved the whole scene about how they set up the rich guy to pick the right number jersey was so clever and those sorts of things just make me go wow. Some of the stuff like when Will first starts hustling Margot and they just show him with a purse in his hand and not how he actually did it were a bit infuriating but there were plenty of interesting explanations to come and twists too, by the end you didn't know who anybody was working for or whether they had a facade or not which was quite thrilling and fun to try and work out.

30. The Night Before

Seth Rogen is probably my favourite and most consistent comedian actor out there, he always puts out a bit of good fun with some really funny jokes interspersed amongst a nice little storyline and some great chemistry. I thought the three leads vibed off each other so well and it was lovely to see Jillian Bell pop up too, she has massive comedic talent so I hope we see more of her. The church scene was my favourite scene because it was just joke after joke, the bit where he hisses at the child and the child swears back had me in stitches and the sexting on the wrong phone was hilarious too. Not one of the most different comedies ever but plenty to enjoy and a great cast.

'Home' was cute. But like you, the first half was "good", but the second half really dragged. The Boovs were indeed the obvious highlights but I can't help but feel that, like 'Minions', "less is more". 'Focus' I found to be boring and didn't bring anything new to the table, really. Margot was indeed very good, but other than that. It was generic and far too slow for me. 'The Night Before' was the same, in that it brought nothing new to the table for comedies, but it was actually enjoyable and genuinely funny at times. Seth Rogen was by FAR the clear highlight though. Every scene with him had me cracking up!

22. Carol

One of the best dramas of the year and incredibly overlooked when it came to this year's Best Picture at the Oscars, it's way better in a lot of aspects than stuff like Bridge of Spies and The Big Short in my opinion. One of the most romantic and realistic love stories in film for years, you were gripped by both characters and even as a viewer you can't resist Cate Blanchett's sensual voice/movements or Rooney Mara's delicate young lady. The dinner table scene at the end was so well done and you wanted them to be together so badly you were almost screaming 'say something Therese!'. The settlement scenes to do with Carol's daughter were really well done, the problems that lesbians faced not too long ago hits even harder when you can see children and loved ones involved.

23. Chappie

One of the more divisive films this year but personally, I really liked it. It worked best when following the character of Chappie and personally Sharlto Copley did one of the best voice performances of the year, he made the character seem so sweet and young and every bad thing he did, you felt so bad for him as he was being lead down the wrong path without knowing it. Another character with a lot of disagreement is Yolandi, one of my favourite female supporting characters this year and I love her wacky yet very loving performance, it was nice to see her be a gangster character but become so defensive over Chappie. Some of the scenes following Chappie's story of growing up were my favourite like learning how to speak and being left behind and finding his way back home really tugged on your heartstrings but the film really fell apart for me in the end where it just became a generic action movie which was disappointing after how unique and intriguing all the characters had been from the start, I feel like the ending was almost boring because it was just bog-standard action. Hugh Jackman was quite bad too in this which was a bit annoying seeing as everyone else did a good job.

24. Get Hard

This was just a comedy that I enjoyed way more than I was expecting, I probably laughed at this film more than any other this year, there were some one liners that were so unexpectedly hilarious, Will Ferrell's 'blackface?' line had me rewinding just like what? that was so unexpected! I liked both leads and Kevin Hart also had his moments too, I loved it when the wife started slapping him when he pushed his luck. I can see where people are coming from saying this has racist tones but for me it was all done in jest and clearly no offense was intended so I was able to laugh at some of the jokes, it was all a bit of a bonkers concept but it had some good laughs and that's all I really look for in a comedy.

25. Minions

I was kind of dreading going into this because I loved the characters in the Despicable Me movies and was perturbed by all the reviews but I ended up loving them even more when they're the sole focus of the movies. I'm not going to lie and say all the humour was clever but there was definitely some moments and it was clever the way they were able to tell a whole story with minimal dialogue in places. My favourite example of a funny joke was when the news report announced 'Bob, who appears to be a bald jaundiced child' which was so quick but I caught it and thought it was nice to have those sorts of jokes in kids films too. The language of minion and the characters themselves are just so adorable so I loved following their little spin-off tale and there were plenty of jokes to keep me entertained, I'd probably rank this as the best movie in the franchise although I haven't seen the other two recently to make a proper judgement.

A mixed batch here. 'Carol' was very good! I definitely see why there's awards buzz surrounding it. Not sure if I'm in a rush to watch it again so soon though. It was all a bit plodding and didn't really get going much until the last 30-40 mins or so. Agreed with your comments surrounding 'Chappie', Hugh was indeed unusually bland with that character and Ninja was atrocious. But apart from those, I really enjoyed it and Sharlto also gave one of my favourite voice performances to! 'Get Hard' was too generic for me. At least with 'The Night Before' it wasn't trying to hide the fact it was generic. But 'Get Hard' I felt the jokes were just too try-hard. 'Minions' I actually hated. Like, seriously hated. I was so annoyed too because they are by far the highlights of the 'Despicable Me' films, but I think that has something to do with what I said a few lines above and that less is definitely more with them!

16. Pitch Perfect 2

You can't help but get wrapped in all the campness of the Pitch Perfect movies because they have everything, they're funny, have great music, likeable characters and are just so much fun. I liked the new characters, Flo was actually my favourite despite some of the racist jokes, I still thought they were funny and the actress delivered them well. Fat Amy of course is one of my favourite characters in film and Rebel Wilson delivers an amusing performance every time, I love her relationship with Bumper too and he's a great character as well, like Jahq says, his The Voice audition in the credits was just hilarious and I like that Adam Devine doesn't mind laughing at himself. I really liked the music again too and all the mash-ups, personally I'd have picked Das Sound Machine as the winners though and it's kind of hard to believe the Bellas won apart from it being a movie and them being the focus, seems like they weren't half as good in the actual final round.

18. The Martian

This is a movie that is this high because the highs were so good but it's probably the only movie in the top 20 that I got a little bored in when it became to be more about the team on Earth in places because the audience just wanted to see more of Mark Watney and is excellent personality surviving back up on Mars. The story was compelling from the start and you always wanted to see what he could do next to overcome the next problem and during Watney's journey there was never one boring moment because it was so clever to see him create life and survive on Mars alone! All of the effects were excellently done and seemed so realistic so this was more of an all-round great story and my only problem was not more focus on Mars itself.

20. The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

When the trailers dropped for this, I was telling everyone it was that last thing I'd be watching because it looked really boring but Dad was interested in this so we went with the rest of the family one day and I unexpectedly oved it. All the big plot twists and reveals were exciting and not boring like they were in stuff like Spectre. The main characters were so good too, all so engaging on screen, you didn't want them to even split up so you could watch all three of them. Henry Cavill nailed the role, so charismatic and suave, he really suited it, as did Armie Hammer as the Russian spy, they made a good duo in those scenes, especially in those scenes were the latter as in trouble and Cavill was just enjoying his sandwich in the truck  Alicia Vikander was excellent as usual too, just so much style and I loved that she was involved so much. This movie was a such a good spy movie because it just had so much more charm than all the others and the lead didn't look bored (cough Spectre).

Really enjoyed 'Pitch Perfect 2'! I thought as far as sequels and remakes go, this is definitely one of the best sequels in a few years. The original is one of my absolute favourites though and I felt some (not all) of the charm from the first seemed to disappear slightly, but I still enjoyed it! 'The Martian' was very good. But I have the same sentiments as you, really. It felt boring in a few places and the pace could've picked up in several scenes, but when it was good it was extremely good! Now for 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'... literally just finished watching this about 20 minutes ago and I loved it. It was so well done! Stylish, cool, brilliant, charming, believable and likable! The cast were ridiculous together. Their chemistry was off the chain! Loved it and I'm kind of annoyed I didn't see it sooner!

11. Ex Machina

This movie had me thinking all about A.I. and the character of Ava for weeks after I'd watched this, did she really use Caleb? or was Caleb A.I. too? or what happened to Ava next? The movie was just so thought-provoking which is the main reason I really liked it. Alicia Vikander was phenomenal and it's a shame she didn't get the Oscar nom for it due to The Danish Girl because each movement by Ava was cleverly calculated to persuade Caleb to help her and she was also really unnerving, you didn't know how she'd act when the cameras were off or if she misinterpreted a comment. Oscar Isaac was excellent in this too, so many questions as to whether he was a bad guy or not and he would make you laugh and be petrified within a couple of seconds on screen.

http://i.imgur.com/KI9akC7.jpg

12. Whiplash

This is yet another movie I just thought would be rubbish, drumming doesn't interest me and jazz is even worse so I thought this would be the last thing I'd enjoy but it was just SO intense. I was on the edge of my seat in alll the drumming scenes, it sounded the same to me each time but to see the character that J. K. Simmons played just rip the apart was so extreme, he was fantastic and every time he walked into the room on screen, even your body tensed up in the audience, some of his insults were actually quite funny too which I liked such as 'That is not your boyfriend's dick, so don't come too early.' and 'just play faster than you give f***ing hand jobs, will you please?' The whole

car crash

scene onwards was just so great because you could see how the adrenaline was pushing him to run there and do an insanely good drum solo when in reality he should have been resting up in hospital but that's how much he wanted and how much Terence had pushed him.

13. Straight Outta Compton

This is one movie that I'd written off and just thought it would be a movie with a long runtime that was just about rapper's lives (e.g. fkn bitches, get money etc. like we here in all rap songs nowadays), especially as I hadn't heard an N.W.A. track in my life but I ended up loving every second and wished it was longer. One thing that surprised me the most was how they actually used music to fight problems like racism, the scene where they get harrassed by the police and the go and write f*** Tha Police is one of my favourites because it just encapsulates everything they were fighting for. The acting was excellent across the board, my personal favourite being O'Shea Jackson, Jr. who just embodied Ice Cube perfectly, helps being his son I expect but still so good. Jason Mitchell was also fantastic, I didn't know anything about Eazy-E so the

death scene

just completely threw me. I thought this movie perfectly balanced all aspects of the band from their message, to their personal lives and careers, as well as humour and a very engaging storyline.

14. Still Alice

This one of those movies that just completely breaks your heart, it's so horrible to see someone deteriorate in health as the movie goes on, especially with a disease like Alzheimer's when the lead character is a talented linguistics professor. There were just so many moments when I felt the tears welling up, the biggest one where Alice needs the toilet but she just can't remember where it is and ends up weeing herself, it was so hard sad to see and Julianne Moore acted so well throughout, a thoroughly deserving winner of the Oscar last year. The parts where she filmed the video saying when you can't answer these questions anymore, go and find these pills and take them all was just so emotional.

15. Daddy's Home

I expect this would be nowhere near this high on pretty much anyone's list but for me it had so much heart and some great jokes that I even went to see it twice. It seemed from the trailer that all the best jokes had been shown but each one is improved in the actual film like Will Ferrel going into the house on the motorbike but then popping out the top window too  The whole daddy's dance act was hilarious too, the bit where the kid starting hitting the girl was hilarious. I absolutely loved the ending too with John Cena turning up, it was so satisfying to see Mark Wahlberg get his karma, I'd love to see a sequel with all three of the dads and the jokes sort of write themselves then, they'd be silly not to do a sequel too after how unexpectedly successful this has been.

'Ex-Machina' was one of those films where, at the time I didn't "get it", but the more I thought about it, the more I realised just how clever and very well made it was! I really need to get around to watching it again soon. Oscar & Alicia especially put in stellar performances! 'Whiplash' was good, but the story was a bit too "mehhh" for me. The only thing that kept me watching were the performances. J. K. Simmons in particular. Extremely deserving of his "Best Supporting Actor" win. 'Straight Outta Compton' I found to be good, but I felt like I'd seen it all before. I am not familiar with this bands particular rise to fame etc... though and I too had no idea about Eazy-E, so that was a bit like "ohhhh... wow! Holy crap." but it was good. 'Still Alice' was stunningly heartbreaking. Julianne Moore is one of the finest actresses to have ever graced our screens, imo. SO heartbreaking when she was doing the video diaries and the pill line was as devastating as it sounds! Really enjoyed 'Daddy's Home'. It wasn't amazing or anything new, but I liked everyone that was in it, so I was always gonna like it somewhat. Being a huge wrestling fan, I had no idea about Cena's cameo at the end but it was fantastic!

Thanks UV! :D

You're fooling no one Joshy, as if the jokes were the reason you went to see it twice :P!

Very happy to see Still Alice so high, stunning / heartbreaking and in my own personal top 10. Can't pick faults in Whiplash or Ex Machina either.

Hopes: that Mad Max and Avengers are next to leave :kink: And for a Kingsman/Inside Out top 2 (add in Big Hero 6 and that's three we share in the top 10)

OK, MAYBE PERHAPS EVER SO SLIGHTLY Mark Wahlberg's abs and my ever-developing crush on him may have made the film a little more re-watchable!

All of those are flawless dramas/sci-fis but for me I just love a good blockbuster more, I can't fault either of them either.

Hmm, I think you'll be happy and sad maybe :P BH6 was my biggest surprise in the top 10 though, never expected to like it so much!

Thanks Jahq!

Ex_Machina and Whiplash are incredible and Still Alice was so powerful so fantastic to see all three movies here

Fantastic top 10, seen all of them and hoping for a Star Wars 7 or Spy win!

There were all faultless but I just love a good popcorn flick even more. Glad you're a fan of the top 10 though, one of those will be in the 6-10 region!

Thanks UV!

I'm going to predict that you're one of the reasons we have 'Spy' in the awards so I'm going to predict top 3/5 at the least for that! ;D I'll do a proper comment soon, I think I'm going to go and watch 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.' coz I've heard very good stuff about it and everyone I know seems to prefer it far more to 'Spectre' which was poo.

Well, we were allowed 10 nominations for Best Pic and it comfortably made it in that for me, glad it's done so well! Man from Uncle just has all the energy and fun that Spectre lacked, no idea why the latter franchise is so popular and the former did so badly at the box office...

Thanks Jonjo!

'Home' was cute. But like you, the first half was "good", but the second half really dragged. Holy mother of responses :P Thanks Jonjo!

They were definitely good as supporting characters with some great comic relief in places, I don't think Home did well enough to get a Boovs film though although I'd probably enjoy it. I really liked Focus, I suppose it wasn't anything fresh or new but hustles have always been fascinating to me, Margot has a lot of charisma on screen too, think her 2016 is going to be a good one, she looks fantastic in Suicide Squad. Seth Rogen always steals comedies for me, he's so funny even though he plays a similar role every time, he's probably my favourite comedy actor around.

Ah, I'm so excited to get Carol on DVD so I can rewatch it again, I suppose it's not the most exciting but Cate Blanchett is so enchanting that you sort of feel like Therese being sucked into an unknown world, some insanely good acting in that movie. Hugh is usually solid and at the least entertaining like in Pan but he was just really boring in Chappie which was a shame, I really liked Ninja because it's something different that we don't see on screen often but Yolandi stole his spotlight every time. I can see where you're coming from with Get Hard perhaps trying too hard but a lot of the jokes landed for me and I liked the two leads so what's more to ask for in a cheap comedy eh. I really like Minions and I'd watch a sequel any day (they'd be silly not to make one as well), they just have so much charm and humour that I didn't mind lack of life-changing plot or anything, one of the funniest kids films this year.

I suppose it became all bigger scaled this time around so lacked the university feel to it which I liked in the first, the whole ensemble deliver though and I'm so excited to be getting a PP3. Everything you say on The Martian is my exact thoughts, shame about the lulls but I'm currently reading the book and excited to give it a re-watch to see if that improves of it more. Glad you loved UNCLE so much, it just had so much style and fun to it that it makes me perplexed as to why Spectre grossed so much more than it, obviously Bond is a massive brand now but I don't get why when everyone looks so bored doing it.

I'm sort of with you on that, I know I liked it after watching but it wasn't until I read up on all the fan theories and online talk about it that made me truly appreciate how well made it was. The story of Whiplash had me enthralled from start to finish, it was just so intense all the way through, mainly due to J.K. Simmons as you say thoroughly deserved his Oscar, I really liked Edward Norton in Birdman too though. I'd not really seen a biopic as good as SOC before so I enjoyed it loads, the Eazy-E bit just seemed to come out of nowhere though, I loved the ending where it showed what all the members went on to do after the band as well. I'm surprised Still Alice didn't get more awards love for the film itself, it really was devastating. Daddy's Home was just a good laugh and as you say, the cast involved are great too, love seeing Cena in all these comedies too

Some pretty close predictions there, think you'll be shocked with a few though! Thanks Jonjo!

06. Mad Max: Fury Road

Probably the one film this year that I was most in awe at during all the action scenes, they just looked so good (I suppose that's down to lack of CGI) and I loved that this whole film was pretty much just a 2 hour long intense car chase. All the characters looked and acted so well too, Furiosa is one of the fiercest characters in film in ages and Tom Hardy did a good job with Max, especially with so little dialogue. I loved mainly how bonkers this was with characters like the Doof Warrior and Immortan Joe but it all looked so aesthetically pleasing and was just such a fun blockbuster to watch with all the explosions and fight scenes left, right and center.

http://i.imgur.com/av1VUbY.jpg

07. Big Hero 6

I mean Disney are ALWAYS good and I like Frozen and Tangled from their recent lot but I was never expecting this to be Wreck-It Ralph level good. It just had so much charm, loveable characters, cool action scenes, funny moments, heartfelt emotion and some excellent animation too (I mean Baymax flying over the city was breath-taking). Baymax is already one of the most adorable characters ever, so sweet and he was really funny too, I loved it when he was just plodding down the street unaware and the puberty joke was pretty great as well  The action was just so cool to watch, the microbots were expertly animated and the group scenes of the Big Hero 6 with their individual powers reminded me much of The Incredibles in terms of some better fight scenes than half of the live action superhero movies, I really do hope we get a sequel to this.

08. Spy

So my top comedy of the year like many others is Spy, not quite as high as Jonjo or Ultraviolence expected but still very high nonetheless. This is one of those movies that is just so hilarious because everybody has such good characters and dialogue that in any scene there is hardly any moments of rest from all the laughs. Jason Statham's anecdotes were excellently delivered and he was one of the highlights. Rose Byrne of course who is always good but her snobby Rayna was spot-on and of course Melissa McCarthy delivered too, all her fake ID characters were some of my favourite gags. I loved her doing the action scenes too, even away from the comedic script, seeing her kicking and punching the opponents was hilarious as well. The penis gag was my favourite visual joke just because it came so unexpectedly although I also loved Melissa having all of her gadgets disguised as embarrassing things  'That guy doesn't deserve a throat' was my favourite one liner after Rayna had just burned a guy's throat off

http://i.imgur.com/EyykBwI.jpg

09. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

In terms of entries in the franchise this is probably 2nd or 3rd for me but it still managed to be one of the top films of the year for me. Sadly lacking in as much action is the first two but I loved the whole fight against the Capitol storyline anyway and there were plenty of sadistic tests along the way. I loved the

Coin assassination

scene, I knew what was coming but even my heart was beating fast due they way it had been built up. The sewer scene was another fantastic one, you could sense the tension and the moment the mutts just appear behind Katniss and the gang was very well done, all the fight sequences that pursued in the tunnels where thrilling to watch and setting nightlock off on Finnick was a great end to it,

seeing the death of a beloved character like him

is always emotional. Talking of emotion, Jennifer Lawrence brought her A-game yet again, one of the best actresses around at the moment, she could really shine during some parts, it was devastating to see her fall apart at a trigger like the cat coming back home, the way it ended was hard-hitting because you knew she would never be completely OK ever

again due to all her struggles at the hands of the system and losing so many friends and family along the way but she could make the most of it with Peeta and their new family.

10. Ant-Man

One of the most enjoyable movies this year because it balanced humour, action, story and cool factor all very well but just lacks the grand scale that most of the movies left to come. I loved that it was more of a heist movie and they were going to use Ant-man super powers to get into a building secretly instead of just beating up bad guys. Paul Rudd was an excellent pick for the lead because he pulls of the action scenes well and of couse is great at delivering comedic lines. I really liked Evangeline Lilly in this too so I'm excited to see her superhero Wasp version of Hope. There were some really cool moments like the first ant scene in the bath, Falcon vs Ant-man and the bedroom fight with a giant Thomas the Tank Engine bursting through the walls. The way he could control ants and turn them into rafts or carry him was a really good way to make the silly sounding name of Ant-man really cool so props to Marvel for that. My main problems with it were the cheesy villain and the fact that they had such similar powers might the fight a bit less exciting.

01. Avengers: Age of Ultron

I'm sorry Jahq, I know this is what you would have least wanted but it has to be </3 This movie was just everything I wanted it to be, I don't watch Marvel movies to get dark entertainment so seeing the Avengers team up and obliterate a swarm of evil CGI minions in interesting ways using cool CGI effects whilst a city is being lifted into the air is perfect for me. Much like every Marvel movie, the humour was spot on and I like that they're so light-hearted in tone, we have the DC movies for darker comic book entertainment, my favourite moment was Thor's worried face when Cap went to life his hammer  The effects were all good and there was just action galore, Hulkbuster vs Hulk was excellent, the opening sequence was excellent and gave us this really cool shot, the end battle vs Ultron was so thrilling too. I loved all the new characters, Wanda seems like a great addition because he powerset is so unique and I love all the red mist they added too, Quicksilver was interesting too so it's a shame they had to appease for the X-men guys at Fox. I loved that they fleshed out some characters too, it was nice to see Hawkeye actually do something and to see a bit of Black Widow's background as well, she's one of my favourite characters in the MCU because she's so badass, shame we'll probably never get a solo movie (at least played by Scarlett </3). For me this was all the action I wanted from an Avengers movie and I think I prefer it to the first, I definitely like the villain more and more characters can only mean cooler right?

02. Jurassic World

I've not even watched any of the original Jurassic Park trilogy still but this still managed to be one of my favourite films of the year. The CGI was just so realistic that I was so immersed in the island that had been created, there were so many cool shots like the dinosaur petting zoo and gyrosphere area that it's almost a shame we didn't get to see more of the actual park itself before it was destroyed. I won't complain too much though because instead we got a thrilling story about one of the coolest characters of the year, Indominus Rex, I love he was basically just a mixture of every animal ever and moments like when he camouflaged and appeared out of nowhere and was able to change his body heat to hide from the thermal cameras was just so cool to watch. Of course, the whole cast did a great job too, Chris Pratt definitely has the right personality to fit loveable hero and I really liked Bryce Dallas Howard too, she managed to sell running away from dinosaurs in heels to me. Nick Robinson was another fave because he's got a fair amount of charisma but I must admit that his on-screen brother was quite irritating throughout. The dinosaurs were just so visually satisfying to watch (none more so than the

Mosasaurus gobbling up Indomindus Rex

, the Pteranodon attack on the main area was excellent too. Ultimately, this of course is not the most thought-provoking film ever but it's a lot of fun to watch and definitely holds up on second viewing too.

03. Inside Out

After seeing this film, I just had the biggest smile on my face for hours afterwards, when I was getting in the car my cheeks were actually hurting. It's just one of those films that is so special in its messages but manages to make it so enjoyable too. The only real problem I had with it was forced emotion with Bing Bong that just didn't get to me at all and I was just thinking 'skip' in my head, I found it hard to like a character that has been introduced as thief? There were just too many good moments to list really but even the end credits were excellent with the little skits inside other people's minds. All the characters were so funny and likeable, there was some really great voice performances and the whole story just seemed to work so well. Seeing emotions inside the mind of people is one of my favourite concepts in a movie now ever and it was so well executed here because it was so creative, I loved the whole dream factory with workers and then you put a reality filter on and project it to become a real dream, it was just so clever. Extra points for Lava being one of the cutest things ever too.

04. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I maybe over-hyped this a bit to begin with and just blindly loved everything about it but it's gone down a couple places now that I've had a period of reflection and realised there are a few other things I'd like to have seen. I did like the mix of old and new a lot, I like how the old characters did come back because that's the sort of thing that is just so pleasing for a Star Wars fan. However, I didn't think Daisy Ridley or John Boyega were great leads, I thought Rey was a bit weirdly acted and she didn't sell the action to me at all, she looked a bit awkward (although I guess she was supposed to be inexperienced) and I just didn't warm to Finn, he did make laugh a fair few times though and had some of the best jokes, I love how he said he'd get them in but then worked as a cleaner or something  Kylo Ren was also not one of my favourite villains, he looked cool and bullet stopping was a jaw drop moment but he looked so bad without his mask, was a bit anti-climactic. The jokes were actually pretty great all the way through, BB8 was hilarious, his thumbs up to Finn after helping him out was adorable  In terms of new characters, I also liked Poe Dameron for just being a likeable every-man and Maz Kanata as well because I liked how unusual she was and how she had the hots for Chewie  Lupita voiced her really well so I'm glad she seems to be on the cast list for Episode 8. Other than that the plot was alright but a bit rehashed, the CGI was of course excellent but sometimes it did seem a little unrealistic. All in all after what sounds like a bit of a negative review (oops,) I of course did really love it and thought it was a great next chapter to the story, already so excited for the next part but 2 years seems a long way away.

05. Kingsman: The Secret Service

I didn't really have any expectations for this when I rented it from iTunes in October, it didn't really look that great and another spy movie didn't really interesting me after the seeing the good but not great Spectre (and Mission: Impossible kind of although that was a lot more fun) but I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. It just had so much charm and I loved how it knew what genre of movie it was and played on that, as Samuel L Jackson identifies when he

shoots

Colin Firth after cornering him  I knew this film was going to be a lot of fun from the moment Gazelle chopped a man in half with her blade feet but even I wasn't expecting as much fun as the heads blowing up around the globe scene or the incredibly well choreographed church scene, I'd never have imagined Firth as an action star but he was excellent then just wiping out the church members in various manners, I love the little quip of 'I'm a Catholic whore, currently enjoying congress out of wedlock with my black Jewish boyfriend who works at a military abortion clinic. So, hail Satan, and have a lovely afternoon, madam.' before he was driven to go mad on them as he was leaving too  Taron Egerton was so good in this, so much cheeky wit and charm that you just fell in love with his character and was rooting for him the whole way, especially when he used the same moves that Hart had originally on the guys at the pub in the credits scene. Lol at seeing Ronnie from Eastenders turn up too, nice surprise

Thank you to everybody who has commented along the way, it has been fun to count down my favourites and chat to you all about last year's movies, means a lot!

Phew when I saw the top half of that image I thought it was for that Whale Crap so thank gosh it isn't! Avengers 2 I liked but I wouldn't have it that high, surprised to see that top here :o Great top 5 on the whole, Inside Out and Star Wars being standouts in a fantastic year for cinema

Absolutely fantastic countdown and loved reading all your commentaries and thoughts Josh, has been really interesting (and it didn't take you half a year to complete!). I'm hoping to start mine in the next couple of weeks (at 87 now so nearly 100!) so will be interesting to see our similarities and differences!

Oh Josh :') Not liking you much tonight tbh

Maybe I need to have seen more of the other movies but some of the humour in Avengers came across as quite smug to me (singling out Iron Man here) compared to Deadpool, Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy where it was all perfect (to be fair I do love Ryan Reynolds, Paul Rudd and Chris Pratt a lot more than the majority of the Avengers cast)

Snap position for Inside Out though <3 Bryce was a queen in Jurassic World and much love for Chris Pratt (duh) and Nick Robinson too, didn't know how much it would be my thing, could've been yet another overrated blockbuster but I really enjoyed it. And ditto not having much expectation going into Kingsman but it was just spot on with action and humour and had that British-ness to it. Taron became an instant fave.

Great countdown Josh, very impressive :D I wouldn't be able to come up with such detailed commentaries, hence why no countdown from me :P

YES! YES! YES!

Omg. Extremely happy with your number 1! Will comment properly sometime tomorrow. But yasssss and great countdown overall. I've really enjoyed reading it all!

Hello UV!

Lol no, In The Heart of the Sea is way down the bottom, really quite boring :drama: It was just so much fun to watch imo, love seeing the team kick ass!

Thank you UV, excited to see what you have in your countdown!

Hi Jahq!

I don't really like Iron Man either, he really is quite unlikeable but it doesn't ruin it for me. #TeamCap in Civil War though! I like all those actors too though, glad all three will be getting sequels :D

I loved how British it was too, glad to see Taron get so much love for it too, hope he's good in the upcoming Eddie the Eagle movie.

Glad you enjoyed it, I think my commentaries just ended up being 'i love this because it was so cool' towards the end though

Thank you :D

An interesting list, not seen alot of them, but the ones I have are fairly awesome.
I have heard good things about Avengers 2 I loved the first one so much so glad to see it so high for the second one...I think I might watch Still Alice at some point based on the review here.

I might chance Civil War but I don't know if it'll be more of the same for me, having not seen the previous movies...the trailer looked pretty decent before Deadpool though and maybe having more focus / less characters will help. Plus Captain American is more likable / Chris Evans is quite fit!

Glad you like Regina, I'd recommend those close to the top though (of course :P)!

Thanks!!

Ah, you have to see it, it's just so much fun to see on screen with all the visual effects. Still Alice is so touching too, one of those that really pulls at your heartstrings :'(

Thanks Harry!

I guess it might be if you don't really know what's going on, I've seen them all now but Iron Man 2 and 3 because I hated the first. I'm sure it'll be more great action though. Gotta agree with you there, he's one of my favourite characters in the MCU and Chris Evans <3

Thanks again :D

Sebby >>> Chris

:kink:

both stunners but naaaaa
