Well to be fair Jake, the sequencing is f***ing dreadful on many pop starlet albums, there's rarely a rhyme or reason as to why the tracks are in that order and they all have dreadful titles, they're just the best songs the label can whip up on a short timetable.

Agreed very much on the other two paragraphs though. That's her problem, being so inoffensive she becomes offensive.

i genuinely thought she was singing L to the I to the NO NO NO and i was wondering why she was spelling out lino, and why is she so obsessed with flooring?

Dance like yo daddy!?

I'm f***ing offended. WTAF.

Why do I like 'Better' too :(?

I am so not here for being here for this but it is sounding decent so far.

REALLY liking Better, the fact her voice isn't really anything special (no criticism, it's just not a belter) really lends itself to this kind of song, like how Selena plays her voice to her strength. I can imagine Ariana doing all the songs she's putting out so far is what I keep thinking, but I can't deny Better. Or NO, which I love now, at last.
Is 'Mom' a joke? I just listened and had to turn it off 2 minutes in because cringe.

Did you get to the phone call? I found it cringe but also sweet, it made me laugh and put a smile on my face :kink:

'Mom' is the most cringeworthy song I've heard in a LONG time. It sounds like she wrote it when she was about 12

It's so bad. Mint Royale tweeted that it's like written for a kid's TV show. I find Meghan's demographic a bit confused.

I didn't want to say it.

It's hard for a song not to be cheesy when it's written as an ode to your mom, but still... it seems to be in her nature to write songs with cringeworthy lyrics.

We weren't allowed to have alcohol around her last year, so I do agree there's a weird image thing with her.

Mom is.... just no. It's very out of place to the other tracks on the album we've heard, it is just a deluxe track though so hopefully there's a reason for that and the standard is all bops like Watch Me Do, Better and of course No. I'm not a huge fan of I Love Me either but it's quite good.
The deluxe is up on Apple Music now *.* It'll be a mistaken release but I'm gonna listen now before they take it down

KINDLY CALM ME DOWN OMGGGGGGG IT'S SO POWERFUL! What kind of Secret Love Song esque life defining ballad??? *.* Like it's almsot as good as No *.*

Woman Up is a total bop, but it's essentially cover of the Ashley Roberts song of the same name which is random, it just has some reworked different lyrics. Meghan gives it a real extra edge that wasn't on the original *.*

First listen rate:

09 Watch Me Do

09.5 Me Too

11 No

10 Better (ft. Yo Gotti)

06.5 Hopeless Romantic (like a solo Like I'm Gonna Lose You which is nice enough but not what I wanted from this album)

08 I Love Me (ft. Lunchmoney Lewis)

10 Kindly Calm Me Down

10 Woman Up

05 Just A Friend To You

07.5 I Won't Let You Down

09 Dance Like Yo Daddy (very much a bop despite the awful title and lyrics, a good medium between Title and this era's sound overall. I CAN'T TOUCH MY TOES)

10 Champagne Problems (now this is a solid hit. As much as I love Me Too this would SMASH and she needs to release it statl. Actually this reminds me of exactly I'd want Fifth Harmon'y follow-up to WFH to be for some reason)

06.5 Mom (growing on me a bit but it's still just a step back to Dear Future Husband soncially pretty much)

06.5 Friends

09 Thank You (ft. R City)

Kind of stanning this. Might be my 3rd fave album of the year behind Lemonade and This Is Acting!! I could do without the the first two deluxe tracks really and Hopeless Romantics/Just A Friend To You are basically Title ballads but this is so strong <3 Me Too, Kindly Calm Me Down, Woman Down and Champagne Problems could all easily be singles!!

Ok it has a banner on Apple Music saying it's an exclusive pre-release this week *.*
