A bit of a surprise in tenth in my eyes, britpop duo McAlmont & Butler with their debut single 'Yes'. It was to be their only top 10 single and does exactly the same here. Just ahead and continuing the britpop trend which really was rife in the mid 90's are Sheffield band Pulp. Sorted For E's & Whizz was part of a double A-side single alongside Mis-Shapes. The track, containing obvious drug references, was the follow up to their signature hit 'Common People' and also peaked at #2.

Corona - Try Me Out CrChA17AWLc Average Score: 7.33 Total Votes: 12 Highest Rating: 11 (Fgiboy2511) Lowest Rating: 3 (darkstar79) A double dosage of dance up next. Italian group Corona come home in eighth with Try Me Out. This became their third top 10 single following 'The Rhythm Of The Night' & 'Baby Baby'. American DJ Josh Wink finishes an impressive seventh. The incredibly trippy big beat track High State Of Consciousness was a top ten single in 1995, and was then remixed the following year to peak a position higher - the same position in fact it finishes here.

Berri - The Sunshine After The Rain m_wdAD2dlDw Average Score: 7.67 Total Votes: 12 Highest Rating: 11 (gooddelta) Lowest Rating: 0 (Luciano) The Sunshine After The Rain became a top 5 hit in 1995 for English singer Berri on its second release, after previously peaking at 26 the year before. The track sampled Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love', which coincidentally appeared in a remixed form as the preceding song on this edition. In 5th are one of the most famous bands of the 90s, Blur. Country House became their first ever #1 single and was the subject of a huge media story which pitted said track against Oasis' Roll With It. Blur came out on top, beating Oasis to the top spot and similarly outperform them here finishing 6 places higher. (Oasis are FAR superior though :kink:)

Eternal - Power Of A Woman fjTELPiSJkQ Average Score: 7.92 Total Votes: 12 Highest Rating: 11 (Acidburn) Lowest Rating: 3 (dandy*) Eternal were most of the most successful groups of the 90s, becoming hugely influential in the R&B genre. Power Of A Woman became their fifth top 10 single in late 1995 and manages the top 5 in this rate also. Starting the top 3, which were miles out in front, are The Original with one of my absolute faves from the decade, I Luv U Baby. Initially only peaking at a lowly #31 it was yet another track re-released to much greater success, eventually peaking at #2 in the Summer. No scores lower than a 6 helped it to an average which would have won a good number of other Now Rates. Which means it's between Gangsta's Paradise Vs. Missing for the crown.
January 24, 20169 yr Author And the winner is... 1. Coolio feat. L.V. - Gangsta's Paradise YFK6H_CcuX8 Average Score: 9.42 Total Votes: 12 Highest Rating: 11 (Chapman & Viper*) Lowest Rating: 6 (Luciano) 2. Everything But The Girl - Missing Q4sPkS8b62Q Average Score: 9.00 Total Votes: 12 Highest Rating: 11 (dandy*) Lowest Rating: 4 (darkstar79) An extremely valiant effort from the multiple genre-spanning duo Everything But The Girl. They had a string of mostly minor hits dating all the way back to 1984 but they hit the big time with Missing - again, a track which originally failed to take off but following a remix and a re-release peaked at #3 and managed an astonishing 14 consecutive weeks in the top 10 (a very rare feat back then!) It managed to achieve a 9 average here with only 2 scores lower than an 8. However it is one of the most iconic hip hop songs (and indeed, songs) of all time which wins the Now 32 Rate. Having failed to previously even chart in the top 40, Gangsta's Paradise became a massive #1 for Coolio in late 1995 and would go on to become one of the biggest selling songs of all time worldwide. Sampling Stevie Wonder's 'Pastime Paradise' this is one of those songs that breaks down barriers and what even usual non-hip hop fans took a shine too. It redefined many aspects of the genre and left a permanent legacy to this day. It's score of 9.42 is the third highest EVER of any Now Rate and deservedly takes the title. Thanks to the 11 other participants of this rate. A more recent edition next so hopefully a few more voters ^_^

January 26, 20169 yr  that I gave the lowest average votes. Really was a pi$$ poor effort though. There was only ever one winner for this album though, glad to see justice happen :cheer:
