March 14, 20169 yr Author 07. SOMEONE LIKE YOU ADELE 1,713,000 Pinpointed by some as the moment that Adele went into the stratosphere in terms of her career, of course that BRITS performance saw the track leap 47-1 with sales of the performance merged with the album version. That rise overturned a midweek advantage to “Born This Way” and gave Adele her first No 1 single, it spent a month there before dropping to No 2 only to return after the song was performed on Comic Relief. March 14, 20169 yr Author 06. ALL OF ME JOHN LEGEND 1,761,000 Spending 19 weeks in the top 10 this track felt like it was NEVER going to leave the charts at one point with 54 weeks in the top 40. It was by far the biggest thing he ever did, though praise be to Aloe Blacc who held him off the very top of the chart, the song was dedicated and written about his then fiancé Chrissy Teigen whom he married days before the promo was shot and which features clips of their marriage. s18cJqrBIOk
March 14, 20169 yr All of Me would have made a fitting no1 here as it got more chart show complaints than any other lol
March 14, 20169 yr Ugh at that thing being anywhere near the top 10. Someone Like You on the other hand
March 15, 20169 yr Author 05. BLURRED LINES ROBIN THICKE FT PHARRELL WILLIAMS & TI 1,808,000 More Pharrell, this time coming up with the rather suggestive “Blurred Lines” which caused some controversy over its lyrics in the first instance and over its copyright infringement later. It took just 8 weeks to pass the million mark and finally outpaced “Get Lucky” to become the biggest seller of 2013 7inO9u18KWQ
March 15, 20169 yr Author 04. RATHER BE CLEAN BANDIT FT JESS GLYNNE 1,900,000 Recording the highest weekly total for any single in January in 18 years, 162k copies were downloaded for this track on its way to the 1.9 million mark. It also introduced us all to Jess Glynne who has since become a chart regular, not bad considering this was the group’s fourth release (though the album was not available yet) 2vzmZ57w158
March 15, 20169 yr Daft Punk, Hozier and Clean Bandit are my favourites in this top 10, if you'd told me at the turn of the decade that they'd sell well over a million I'd have been a bit shocked. All remain fantastic songs <3 I sense Buzzjack will be very happy with whoever's won
March 16, 20169 yr Author 03. THINKING OUT LOUD ED SHEERAN 1,959,000 A simply astonishing 79 weeks in the top 75 gives you some indication of just how big this track is, 2014 was already shaping up to be a great year for Sheeran but this track really cemented his place at pop’s top table. It took 19 straight weeks on the chart to finally make the top before becoming the first record to remain in the top 40 for 52 consecutive weeks, not bad for a single which wasn’t planned as a single (the record label wanted “Photograph” as the third release) but the song took off at radio and the video featuring “So You Can Think You Can Dance” contestant Brittany Cherry seemed to capture the public imagination. rp1DJL_SIys
March 16, 20169 yr Author 02. UPTOWN FUNK MARK RONSON FT BRUNO MARS 2,281,000 Two songs which have now acquired 2 million UK “Sales”, first up Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” a song whose UK Release was brought forward after an “X Factor” cover by Fleur East helped to create extra buzz for the track. It took 8 weeks to power over the million mark by which time it was still at No 1 since its release bar a solitary week at Christmas when it gave way to the X Factor release, and then became the biggest seller of 2015. Like “Blurred Lines” it’s been in trouble with the lawyers having to add members of the Gap Band to the writing credits after it got a bit too close to “Oops Upside Your Head” in its composition. March 16, 20169 yr Author 01. HAPPY PHARRELL WILLIAMS 2,365,000 Written by Pharrell for Cee-Lo Green the chart fortunes of “Blurred Lines” and “Get Lucky” had changed its direction as he was offered the chance to record his own album. Included in the “Despicable Me 2” film, it spent three separate spells at No 1 (the first song to do so in 57 years), gave Williams a third million seller within a 12 month period (the first act since the Beatles to do so), and sold its millionth on its return to the top for a third time post a BRITS performance. It is the best selling single of the millennium and the best seller of the Buzzjack Era!! Mbw9IqWe404
March 16, 20169 yr Author Full recap to follow in a bit but in the interim I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread and helped to celebrate 10 years of Buzzjack!

March 16, 20169 yr Pharrell Williams and his hat at #1 :cheer: Mark Ronson makes a great #2 as well, both songs really define this decade well and were deservingly massive hits.
March 17, 20169 yr I'm very surprised to see Rather Be above Blurred Lines - that seemed to be a lock-in for top 3. Incidentally its the only one of the top 5 that holds any appeal for me.
March 19, 20169 yr Happy doesn't even deserve half of its sales. SLY is the best song in the top 10. Do you know how many songs did over 800k since 2006?
