This was a popular cartoon in the mid 80's and there was also a cartoon movie made. The movie stars Evens Steven Shia LaBeouf and is directed by Michael Bay who directed bad boys, the rock, armegeddon and many action packed movies.

Watch the trailer and see what you think! BTW does anyone know if the transformers talk like in the cartoons?

Movie is out 4 July.

OMFG I cannot wait for this - looks awesome ! But yeh if they get this wrong there will be an outrage........ !

I just saw the flick, quite decent actually. The "USA is the whole world" attitude these films often have is getting kinda tiresome so luckily they avoided that pretty much completely in this film. Since most of ppl here haven't seen this yet (I think??) I guess I better leave it to just saying that it is nothing new (an R-rated version would have been the one for me) but it keeps you entertained for the 140 mins or so and is far better film than the hideous and boring Ocean's 13 or the one-hour too long Pirates3.

I saw this yesterday. I really enjoyed it, thought it was qwell plotetd and acted, asnd the script was good too. The special effects were ace as well!
This looks rather good, surpisingly when I heard this was coming out I expected it to be like Star Trek, for geeks :( But it doesn't look like it at all with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay behind the scenes making it one of the most action filled films this year, and Shia LeBeouf starring, it looks quite good. I can't wait to see this ^_^

Well I accidentally ended up watching this yesterday and it was actually quite good :o

Some funny parts which I didn't really expect, and some compelling parts. It was a bit confusing at times and quite easy to lose track of, but on the whole it was good :magic:

Best film of the year (just beating Order Of The Phoenix :o ) - special effects were awesome, good storyline and even some humour :D

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to set fire to the film reviewer of the Daily Mail who gave it one star. ^_^

Best film of the year (just beating Order Of The Phoenix :o )

TBH, I thought "Order of the Phoenix" was rather poor in comparison to the first three mainly because of the detail that is missing, huge great chunks of the book have disappeared, and frankly it seemed a bit disjointed to me, characters that were important in the book were just consigned to the margins in the film.. In short, I found the film shallow and quite plot-less tbh... And people who say that "Oh, it's such a big book, the film would have to last for over three hours to do it proper justice" are frankly missing the point that kids can easily read a "Harry Potter" book for 6 or 7 hours in one sitting, so surely watching a film that might last about 3 and a half hours isn't any great problem to them... The LOTR films all lasted over three hours, they made a sh!tload of money and got hundreds of millions of bums on seats, length was no real problem in that case....

As far as "Transformers" goes, it's okay, would've been a lot better in the hands of someone like Peter Jackson, Paul Verhoeven or James Cameron at his "Terminator" peak; or indeed had been made as a full-length computer-generated animated feature by some Japanese Anime specialist like Katsushiro Otomo (Akira) or Mamoro Oshii (Ghost In The Shell), or the guys who did "Appleseed" or "Patlabor"... The whole "Giant Robot" thing is done so much better by the Japanese IMO.. Michael Bay doesn't suck as badly as he normally does, it's certainly nowhere near as awful as "The Island", "Armageddon" or "Pearl Harbour", but there's just a bit too much of the humans faffing around and not enough 'big robot' action for my liking, I wanted to see a "Transformers" film with the main focus being on the likes of Megatron and Optimus Prime (like in the comic book and animated series), neither of them have anything like the amount of screentime they should.... I definitely could've lived without having to suffer Megan Fox's feeble attempts at "acting", which seem to consist entirely of her pouting and exposing her midriff.... Shia Lebouef, however, was fun, a good potential comedy actor here, great sense of comic timing... He deserved a lot better than the rather crappy lines of dialogue he had to spout.....

A missed opportunity - 6/10

(and that applies to "Order of the Phoenix" as well...)

I can't say enough how ace this film is. I went and saw it yesterday and it definately is the best of the year...its definately earning a place in my top films EVER!
