March 14, 20169 yr it may depend on what gets drawn next to it. Well I don't think Christer and co. will be putting any big favourites either side of it.
March 14, 20169 yr I don't think that really means a thing at this point, as has been said, it's more what they put near him. It still strikes me as the most obvious winner, by far. And much as I don't love the song, I've come to accept not loving the winners very much and if it means another Sweden hosts contest, well, that as good as gifts us another great show, so.
March 14, 20169 yr Not what I was hoping for of course, but given they won from 10th last year I'll take it (and with Austria winning from 11th the year before that, maybe the winners are creeping back http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/uploads/group_images/of_18_icon.gif) (Also as much as I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed, not only would Sweden winning on home soil be an incredible achievement itself but I think it would be funny to happen the year after Austria got 0 on home soil )
March 14, 20169 yr Yeah at that point it's more about what's around you that determines how well you end up doing. I can still see it getting lost enough after song 26 that something else pips it to the win but perhaps that's just me projecting.
March 14, 20169 yr Author ALSO, might be worth noting, Frans is now #49 on the Spotify Global chart, and it's the top 50 which shows up on the desktop version most will have, so its visibility to anyone worldwide in massively enhanced now.
March 14, 20169 yr Just showed the performances of Ace, Wiktoria, Robin and Frans to my bestie who laps up any pop song fresh off the radios. She thought 'Save Me' was a very tired sound, Ace had a great song but not a very good voice and her outfit was terrible, she really liked Frans and his song, she called him cute several times and was very very impressed by his voice, but her favourite was Robin - because she fancied him and be cause it sounded like Kygo whose songs she also adores. Then I showed her the big hitters for Eurovision and at the end when I asked who she thought would win she said Sweden, or maybe Russia. I think it's Frans' to lose.
March 14, 20169 yr Shame Constellation Prize wasn't in the Norwegian selection, they seem to do tropical house better than most and I reckon it would have beaten Icebreaker there fairly easily. Still deserves to break out of Sweden but probably won't get a chance now.
March 16, 20169 yr All the voting stats are out! Heat winners: Semi 1 - Robin Bengtsson Semi 2 - Wiktoria Semi 3 - Lisa Ajax Semi 4 - Frans Only 11,231 votes between Isa and SaRaha in the AC duel as well!
March 16, 20169 yr I was just coming to ask where this was. It looks like Samir/Viktor were close to taking out Ace Wilder for that DTF spot in Heat 1, at least, up until the bottom 2 were eliminated. ISA looked equally as close to taking out David in Heat 2. :o at Lisa beating Oscar in Heat 3. Overall, Frans had 600,000 more votes than Wiktoria which says alot. A few things were very close too. Especially some of those AC heats. Edited March 16, 20169 yr by Aaron.
March 16, 20169 yr I wish they'd tell us how many were app votes and how many were phone votes. Mimi Werner beat Albin & Mattias on the second round phone only vote.
March 16, 20169 yr Just listened to this for the first time and I'm amazed! Trust Sweden to bring a chart-friendly modern sounding Eurovision entry. Wouldn't surprise me at all if this gave Sweden yet another win.
March 16, 20169 yr 191 NEW Frans - If I Were Sorry 23,063 UK Spotify impact!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png
March 16, 20169 yr Author Yeah, it's back down to #51 in the global charts so it's not as visible in the desktop version now, but it's natural people will be listening to whatever this 'new entry is in the global top 50' even if just out of curiosity.
March 16, 20169 yr Not that they dont do it every year. Sweden put such great work into getting the right song for Eurovision. Now that they have 6 wins i believe they are going to go all out for the next couple of years to become the nation that has won the contest the most. That said, i cant see them winning this year.
March 20, 20169 yr UK SPOTIFY: 94 NEW Frans - If I Were Sorry 38,464 Not in the global top 50 now (it's #53) so not being boosted by that :o
March 26, 20169 yr due to life issues / a blockage with my iamspamspamamisink i haven't been able to keep abreast with melfest as i have done in the past and it's such a pity as what an utterly incredible year this one has been (and that's taking into account oscar zia inexplicably finishing second). so many of the final-placing songs could've won with ease i feel. i don't particularly like frans (for capturing the zeitgeist of lukas graham in a flash) but i nonetheless expect to see sweden come out on top. putting all the technical shit to bed can i just say THANK GOD, in the turgid years of facsimile chart fodder that sweden gives us internet gays something to listen to and live for. by all rights, sweden really should take over from ireland for most wins within the next decade i should imagine and well deserved too.
