'Papa Don't Preach' is one of my favourites too, but reading your insightful and personal commentary has made me think that even I underrated it sometimes. I completely agree that the melody and particularly the intro is just perfect and I love the tone in her voice; how it goes deeper and how it goes raspy at the right moments. This was another landmark in her discography for me - here, she proves that fun pop songs can tackle serious issues without being too...preachy and just have the right balance so that neither factor is spoiled.

'Vogue' is just a masterpiece, when the piano kicks with that early 90s house groove... it's just orgasmic.

'Papa Don't Preach' is a key moment for me, it's such a powerful song and you pretty much can't get more iconic than that.

I ALWAYS forget about 'Papa Don't Preach'. It's a 10/10 moment but I still would only place it towards the end of my top 20 faves by her.

At least switch it out with 'Into The Groove' :drama:

Just watching the Who's That Girl Tour performance of 'Papa Don't Preach' and I wish there was a studio version of this extended mix with guitar solo (unless there is and someone can direct me!). Not forgetting to mention how much passion and energy she injects into the performance, as she did spectacularly throughout this tour.

I don't think there's a studio version of that one, but what do we all think of the True Blue re-issue version? There is a breakdown after the 'Daddy Daddy..' verse/middle 8. Me and Jay call it the 'Daddy Daddy Dance-remix'. I don't think it really flows that well.

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait

Shock? Madonna's last truly, gigantic single has crashed out missing the top 3 but still receiving an incredibly high average and a respectable finish. A song this huge and well-known is obviously going to have its detractors too! The song came with an explosive new transformation for the pop Queen, this time she ditched the acoustic/electro-vibes of 'American Life' and the transported us to glowing, disco dancefloors with this almighty STOMPER. Madonna's first track to be released as a digital download, it quickly became a huge success for her once more and catapulted her back onto the scene making it into the Guiness Book of World Records and topping the charts globally. With a prominent feature from ABBA's 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)' the song is both retro, of the present day and futuristic in its stunning transitions across time and music of the past few decades - it's almost ironic that the song is about the passage of time! The music video pays tribute to John Travolta and showcases Madonna in a now iconic pink leotard, tearing up the streets and being celebrated across the globe. It remains to this day one of the best selling songs of all time and is instantly recognisable to all generations; still a regular in clubs and the media and has long gone down as a true classic. A huge favourite on this forum, its average pulled down slightly by some scores which deemed it below average.

I like 'Hung Up' but for me the sample doesn't just enhance the song but it MAKES the song. The song itself isn't all that good or catchy.

What's in the top 3 then?

I love 'Gimme Gimme Gimme...' so much but I also think this sample works perfectly and it's one of my all-time favourite songs

This negativity though  IT MADE THE TOP 4 THAT IS STILL AMAZING!!1 g'wan Griff ~
