Novelty records might be a bit embarassing, but having the guts to get the ones you enjoy doesn't mean you have poor taste in music. It means you buy what you like! Being fun doesn't mean it's of no value.

Taste is incredibly subjective, but IMO good taste means that you aren't bound by genres or fashions, but seek out the best music to suit your moods. I like a wide range of music, including classical, chart and non-chart, but not jazz. I don't like it when artists produce the same album again and again either, but that's because I get bored easily.

I'm very happy that I like the kind of music that I like, but I don't see it as something to be proud of or ashamed of. People who are keen to show-off about owning cool and trendy CDs are more interested in looking cool and being seen as fashionable than they are in the music itself.

Nine... I am proud of what I like but I do have some quite a lot of cheesy pop albums.
I am proud of my music, I listen to a wide range of music, hip hop, r&b, pop, dance and sometimes indie (only if the song is huge e.i. chasing car)

10 / 10

You've said that twice!

Obviously people are going to give themselves high rates!

10, I listen to ALL types of music, it doesn't matter what it is or who it is :D if I like it then I'll buy it and listen to it and I don't care what other people think about it infact music is my biggest passion and I talk about it all the time hence me being addicted to a music messageboard :P
I modestly gave myself a 9 when I really think I deserve a 10 :P My mates would probably think I deserve a 6 or 7 but I think they are narrow in their tastes. They don't understand that I can like R'nB, Hip Hop, Pure Pop, classical and lots in between and still have taste. I don't care what people think of my taste either. I don't try to look cool through the music I like because I think that's totally uncool in any case.
Its a big 8 for me. When I was younger maybe I would be ashamed but now I can honestly say I like anyting like Hilary duff all the way to Metallica! and I don't care. Im not ashamed o fanything I like. Because at the end of the day I enjoy music and even songs people see as "guilty pleasures" I just see as fun disposable pop songs.
i have great taste and can appreciate all kinds of music from cascada to kate bush commercial to non commercial music
I'm proud that I still love Steps. Also love Westlife and Daniel O'Donell.

I'm proud and embarassed at the same time.

I know that what I listen to isn't cool (and there are some things in there I can't justify in any way) but they make me happy and there's a mix of genres so **** everyone else.

If you try and be with it all the time - and have taste you can show off about at every opportunity - you end up wasting a lot of time and a lot of money.

I gave myself a 9, because I've got music in my collection which spans all contemporary eras from the 60s right up until now...

In some ways I wish I had more time for the more mainstream stuff, but I just cant bring myself, sorry. Just not easily amused I'm afraid.... :(

I voted myself as a '7'... i'm proud of what I listen to, even if it tends to be all the same sort of stuff. You wouldn't catch me listening to pop or dance, for example
About a 7/8 out of ten (settled on 7 eventually) because my collection varies from indie, dance and pop and theres the odd guilty pleasure hidden away but i 'm proud of the music i enjoy :P

I have to say 9

I have a broad range in musical tastes. But of today's music you wouldn't catch me listening to R&B, Hip-Hop or boy bands like McFly & Westlife.

Most of today's dance is also a no-no although I loved the techno and house music of the 90s. I also loved the R&B, Soul & Reggae of yesteryear.

I'm also a big fan of music from the European mainland - although not the cheesy pop you hear on holiday
