May 9, 20169 yr i want to really love this but i find it so clinical/banal.. to date, three mish mash singles and no sense of artistic identity or fluidity/development. dua has such potential and 'be the one' is fabulous (such great benchmark to start from) but as an artist she comes off as a victim of major label methodical planning and rigorously organised studio sessions with whoever. it's all so incongruous and nothingy. like where is the spark?
May 21, 20169 yr Can't put my finger on what, but something about the hook doesn't quite work for me...I feel like I should really like it, but it's merely something that I wouldn't turn off if it came on the radio.
June 4, 20169 yr Omg this has really hit me, what I was thinking before  Such a tune, I think it weaves tropical house into a pop song so so well.
June 4, 20169 yr While this is still a solid bop for the most part, I'vet rapidly found it quite boring after repeat listens. I still stand by that it's a lot better than Last Dance but I see what Jake means now. There's something a bit too 'try hard' in the sound, whereas Be The One was just effortlessly brilliant.
June 4, 20169 yr Yeah, I'm finding it quite hard to be excited by this. By all means, a good song but it's not jumping out at me like 'Be The One' did which, I agree, felt more natural and less of a certain feel of "this is when she's meant to blow up, so let's give her a radio friendly pop-leaning song".
June 4, 20169 yr Oh I definitely agree about her as an artist, whilst I've loved all 3 singles to some degree I do feel like they're just having her hop from sound to sound and seeing what sticks, but I found Be The One really quite fresh and unique and it would have been a great direction for her to go in properly. I just feel like she's never really going to happen, one of those artists who has some really good pop songs but none of them catch on. I'm still gutted for Be The One though, it was big in Aus and did well in parts of Europe so it's a shame it never caught on here apart from briefly going top 40 which I think was because of the BBC Sound Of hype?
June 4, 20169 yr I don't think she's boring at all :o. I think she's one of the more exciting pop artists we have had in some time, all singles are at least 8/10 moments. I think her voice is also really interesting which helps her stand out.
June 9, 20169 yr Last Dance is miles better than Hotter than Hell, the record company should push Last Dance.
June 9, 20169 yr ...so did 'Be The One' never actually happen in the UK then? Assumed this was the followup but just found out Be The One never even charted here :/
June 9, 20169 yr If 'Hotter Than Hell' does become the big hit it's likely to be I imagine they'll try re-pushing 'Be The One' here, it's too good for us to pass on (and was big in Europe).
