Nice to read all these reviews and to know how well recieved Darius was.Not an easy role for Darius to develop, given the historical limits placed on him and Omar Sheriff, but Darius did more with it than expected and has such good comedic expressions,it gives far more to Nick than was portrayed by Omar. Just a pity Darias did not get to use his singing so much,as he is so talented in that field, but yes,I appreciate it was 'all about Fanny',but didn't stop me from feeling 'starved'a bit ,not being able to sing more.

That's the only disappointing aspect of the roles Darius has played. No blockbuster.

Still he is I believe the only person to have recorded Temporary Arrangement since Omar Sharif's version was rejected for the film.

It was not performed on Broadway or London before. The only other recording I've heard just once was by Jules Styne himself.

Hi Baytree, is the tour over now?

Woking - New Victoria's Theatre 24th - 29th April

Tonight in Woking Natasha J Barnes and Darius Campbell played Fanny Brice and Nick Arnstein, roles that are being rotated with Sheridan Smith and Chris Peluso.

Leading men don't come any better than Darius Campbell. Towering over Natasha with a gorgeous baritone that has the smooth sensuality of one Nat King Cole, his take on famed gambler Nick Arnstein seems effortless and suave. There's obvious chemistry between Campbell and Barnes that makes their love affair all the more palpable and its demise all the more heart-breaking.

Some adulation must also be reserved for Darius Campbell, the actor and singer furthering his stage career with another solid performance as Arnstein and showing maturity as a performer with a long career ahead of him. He’s truly excellent here and a worthy partner to Barnes’ Brice.

Yes, Darius was due back in LA today.

In the pinned thread Funny Girl Tour Reviews, I've copied the bits about Darius because sometimes with time links stop working.

Please make any comments in the Funny Girl Show & gig thread.

Canterbury - MarloweTheatre 2nd - 6th May

Darius Campbell (of Popstars and Pop Idol fame) is also a pleasant surprise. His on-stage relationship and chemistry with Barnes is natural and utterly hilarious. Their rendition of You Are Woman, I Am Man is fantastic and has me crying with laughter.

The cast really lay the foundations for an outstanding lead performance for Natasha, with Darius Campbell switching on his charm while building upon and then exposing Nick Arnstein’s flaws to lead Barnes into pleading her soul out during the climax, making the plot lines converge into one outburst of emotion. This is mixed with slapstick comedy throughout the evening that never becomes overwhelming, always managing to tread the line to not become larger than life and an cartoon impression of the source material.

Birmingham - Hippodrome 8th - 13th May

Sheridan

Darius Campbell, one time Pop Idol contestant, is the perfect straight man for this comedy as the sophisticated gambler and socialite Nick Arnstein as he first woos and then marries Fanny.

Their scenes together, with him the perfect charmer and her his clumsy target are a joy to watch.

Darius Campbell as Nick Arnstein is every inch the suave, sophisticated, handsome millionaire, with a voice as smooth as the silk on his top hat and perfect chemistry with Sheridan Smith.

Darius Campbell is tall, dark and handsome as the gambling international man-about-town, Nick Arnstein, who woos and marries Fanny in a relationship which is doomed even without his being jailed for bond fraud. He is charm itself with a lovely voice for the duets with Brice.

Smith is supported by an exceptional cast. Darius Campbell is a suave Nick Arnstein, sweeping both Brice and the entire audience off their feet with his deep, rich voice. Joshua Lay’s Eddie Ryan and Rachel Izen’s Mrs Brice shine as the faithful support system who taught Brice ‘Everything She Knows’.

The supporting cast also doesn’t disappoint. Darius Campbell oozes charm in his role as Nick Arnstein and equally breaks hearts when his marriage to Fanny takes a turn for the worst. And having returned to the UK after playing Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables on Broadway, Rachel Izen too delivered a noteworthy performance as Fanny’s mother, Mrs Brice.

If her theatrical talent shines through, so does her ability to choose the wrong man, here Darius Campbell suavely convincing as Nick Arnstein the near-gangsterish bootlegger who was her husband, and father to her child.

There can be no doubt that all performances, and especially those of Smith and Campbell, hit the spot squarely. Smith pushes the kooky button with just the right amount of pressure, and Campbell has a superbly rich speaking and singing voice that suits his character to a T. Michael Mayer’s direction, supported by designer Michael Pavelka’s minimalist set that includes mirrored wings (representing the introspection of Brice and Arnstein, perhaps), ensures that the flow is smooth and the laughs come thick and fast – one just can’t help rooting for Brice while simultaneously knowing that Arnstein is too good to be true: no decent man could be that smooth, surely?

As I don't know where the original thread went I thought I'd redo it. Funny girl recording will be coming to sky very soon according to darius. Sorry no date for the actual dvd yet but I will keep you posted on any news as soon as I hear

It's still here, polly, about mid-way down the page. Maybe we can keep this one for news and information and the other one for comments. I

sorry I couldn't find it  but that is a great idea :D

At which point, enter Nick Arnstein, who is so much in the Rock Hudson mould – tall, dark, handsome and as smooth as molten Ferrero Rocher – that it’s instantly hilarious.

This is a uniformly good cast. Joshua Lay is a cracking Eddie, Rachel Izen as Mrs Brice has personality by the bucketful (and can also shake a leg) and Darius Campbell as Mr Arnstein does rather more than just look hilariously handsome in a suit. The lad can sing, too.

https://luxe-magazine.co.uk/2017/05/funny-g...oyal-newcastle/

She stars with singer Darius Campbell as the suave, handsome and not so reliable Nick Arnstein who loves her ‘just as she is’. He’s a great, sexy leading man and their scenes together are fabulous – his voice has great range – as are his moves in the glossy Hollywood dance routine in the number, Temporary Arrangement.

Darius Campbell was a good match up to Smith in the role of Nick and had a certain sleazy charm to him! Another nice surprise in performance terms, I mean I know he has a good voice but the acting to go along with it very good to see.

I am hopeless at knowing how to view this thread or that, and hope for the best when I log in. The only thing that contracts that is when I achess this forum in a response to an e-mail.So thank's for sending me link.

Eden, If you look at a topic and see a little red square just before the title then you have not read everything. Touch or click on the red square and it will take you to the last post you read.

Also you can track the thread by clicking the follow thread link at the top of the page when a thread is opened. You then choose how often you want to receive emails.

Thanks Spam fritter. Perhaps I over-reacted,with all the quizzing from people I didn't know-one was the person who corrected me in my pronunciation of his/her name, saying it was Hiss, german. That was OK, Butility then after me supplying all the relevant answers, there was no response, except about that daft poplar tree, and other , I would say, inappropriate references to do with Darius, which was a bit weird and distasteful

I think the other one was Sam,butility not sure, but at least that was all just a bit of a bit of an inquisition. Then I had another weird e- mail from that "just let's barge in " Misty or something, and suddenly I just began to feel it was turning into a different type of forum-not for the better, and not one that I can imagine Darius endorsing! Anaway, thanks for your thread and navigating tips. Will try my best, and won't stop posting, but will just not be responding to certain people. Hope you understand.

I am sorry that my appearance on the forum was a bit sudden, but really I was only intending to come here to help the forum get better and more fun. There had not been much activity on the forum for ages and lots of people on Buzzjack were discussing the possibility of the Darius forum closing because it was not being used enough. I realized how unique the Darius forum was on Buzzjack (I had been there a bit before a few times too) and that it would be a great pity if the forum did go from Buzzjack, while at the same time thinking I did actually like Darius' voice. So I started posting here, and at the same time long time users such as Baytree started coming back to the forum and posting more too which was brilliant and there were some great discussions, and despite a few other threads about other Dariuses and username rates (which in hindsight should have been discussed on the off topic waffle thread rather than having their own threads) most of the discussion was relevant and about Darius Campbell-Danesh himself!

The poplar tree was only a light hearted joke to do with someone's predictive spelling calling Popstar to Operastar 'Poplar to Operastar'.

Likewise the pronunciation about my username I don't really care about :D I am not actually German by the way.

and other , I would say, inappropriate references to do with Darius, which was a bit weird and distasteful.

I guess you are referring to the Darius fanfic thread. I was very careful to portray Darius, even in a fictional capacity, as a gentleman on the Darius fan fiction page in my posts on that thread but unfortunately some other people on there didn't.
