Organizers today announced Madonna's participation in what promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s BBMAs. The legendary pop singer will pay tribute to her good friend and fellow artist, who unexpectedly passed away April 21 at the age of 57. May 11, 20169 yr I literally just squealed when I saw the title! Likelihood is that it will just be a speech (it's not like her to perform outside of an album era, not in recent years anyway) but, like you say, even that would be great if it's anything like the MJ VMAs one. Just please don't let it be a 'Love Song' performance if she is performing.

Apparently social media response was pretty brutal though. I agree the vocals weren't great but the song was far too big for her.
May 23, 20169 yr I thought she sounded pretty bad, it just isn't her song :( I can't decide if i like the outfit or not, but it's a big step up from the met gala.
May 23, 20169 yr I don't think she was as awful as some people are making out, but it was certainly a pretty bad performance. As others said, she picked a song that was totally out of her vocal range.
May 23, 20169 yr It would probably have been a whole lot better if she didn't try to sing it like Prince (and Sinead) did and put her own spin on it that makes her own ballads so special.
May 23, 20169 yr She should have done it with just a guitar, the arrangement was odd She sounded so country singing this I understand why she chose this song but Sinead made it more famous than prince , many people think she was singing the Sinead version.... I think people wanted a spectacle
May 23, 20169 yr To be honest, I thought it was fine. She looked a bit like someone had cum glitter all over her and her vocals weren't AMAZING, but it was a nice tribute to Prince. The reaction on social media in general is pretty much typical of whatever she does these days. I know I was very harsh on the MET Gala outfit, but at this stage she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't really.
