I think both Life of the Party and Something Big could've been hits if they actually got a push here. Something Big got released midweek after being pulled forward I remember, two weeks just outside the sales top 40 but not top 100 officially either week :drama: Stitches was the first to get an actual push!

Wow that advert is really working its magic on RnB in the evenings, up to 5!

#5 on iTunes, but there’s no guarantee they'll even make the top40 as 'new girl' hasn't made the spotify top200 yet~

I doubt they'll miss the top 40  Lack of streams is quite worrying but they should be top 10 on sales which should mean top 40 at the very least overall.
Wonder if we'll see any movement tonight on the back of the Queen's birthday show.

well streaming has been hammering sales heavy/exclusive tracks over the last month~

beyoncé (hold up) 5 > 24

prince (when doves cry) 5 > 26

prince (kiss) 7 > 38

p!nk 9 > 32

prince (purple rain) 19 > 88

with a slew of drake album tracks receiving a boost from spotify, it's very plausible that reggie 'n' bollie could be squeezed out if they don't pick up on streaming sharpish ;) :P

I can see RnB squeezing into the top 40, but probably not as high as the top 30.

Hair by Little Mix charted at 31 when released, and only made a proper appearance in the top 200 on Spotify after about 5 days and wasn't as high as New Girl on iTunes either.

Oh I realise that streaming has had a huge effect recently but I don't think it's enough to shove them out of the top 40 entirely. The Drake album tracks aren't doing quite that well :heehee:

given the numbers they've been doing on apple music over the last fortnight, they don't have to! :P

I'm not SURPRISED as it doesn't sound remotely like a hit single and all the Eurovision songs seem to be doing rather poorly this year, but I'm a little bit disappointed at how little impact Jamala has made. Possibly overtaken Lordi as my favourite Eurovision winner 'ever' (bearing in mind I've heard very few from before about 2006 )
will.i.am/Pia Mia - 'Boys & Girls' is up to #10!

59p really does help.

Helped Jonas get in to the official top 40 finally too last week.

54. Gorgon City - All Four Walls (feat. Vaults)

this track has been climbing, one for the future maybe? very acessible dance/house track that gives some nice summer vibes. radio 1 giving it a lot of support also, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Sadly I think 'All Four Walls' is destined to be one of those tracks Radio 1 support a lot but never really catch on to the music consuming public :( Such a shame as it's one of their best songs to date.

that's a shame, I'm sure a few years ago this track would have been a certain top 40.

I hope that the 'support but no success' rule isn't the same for Say It, as it seems as though it's destined to go down the same route :(

I think the same can be said for a select few songs on Radio 1's playlist all the time. They'll play them a lot, even A-List them, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the public will catch onto them.

it's strange, how the public can catch on to some songs that usually wouldn't get anywhere, with airplay [like Hideaway a few years back, that would have easily stayed abroad had it not received airplay from Radio 1], and some songs which come across as considerably more accessible, can get nowhere.

to prove your point, on the playlist at the moment-

- What If I Go

- Sticky Situation

- Wild Things

- Kiss It Better

- All Four Walls

- Up&Up

..are all getting a lot of airplay get barely getting anywhere :(

my examples are probably terrible sorry :heehee:

It says more about Radio 1's mission to play a broad spectrum of music as opposed to something that's definitely going to be a hit from the off.

yes, I know, anyway, you can never judge what is going to be a hit from the off - but what I mean is you'd suspect that eventually, with a lot of airplay to a large audience, songs would take off [as I suggested with Hideaway], and it's just strange how songs that sound like they are a certain hit sometimes make no chart impact and vice versa.

 9. will.i.am - Boys & Girls (feat. Pia Mia)

rising quite strongly, looks like it could be an inevitable top 10 hit for will.i.am again. one of the 'kings of relevance', he seems to be.
