Posted May 15, 20169 yr 15th May 2016 It’s Justin Timberlake at 1, fresh off Eurovision and sealing the Eurovision invasion of my chart following a great contest, highly entertaining, if it was marred by a rubbish new voting system which robbed the real winners (Australia or Russia, depending on whether you choose the previous system or the public vote). Justin has already had 3 solo toppers, 1 with Madonna, and one with ‘NSync, for a total of 6 in 16 years. Australian Dami Im is in at 3 with the highest new entry Sound Of Silence, an awesome vocal performance at Eurovision, with France’s Amir leaping to 7, Bulgaria’s Poli Genova at 9 and Spain’s Barei at 11. Kygo gets another top 10, as do the Beatles, 49 years late (it was never a single, and I’ve never charted the classic Sgt Pepper track before) and 48 years since they topped my first chart. The act that just keeps on giving half a century on! ABC go top 20, a run of 35 years, and it’s both a Jean-Michel Jarre and Pet Shop Boys mini-invasion, the PSB’s with their new single at 50, and also with JMJ at 38, one of the best tracks off Jean-Michel’s new album. It’s 39 years since Oxygene Part IV peaked at 2, and he has 3 new entries this week, with Cyndi lauper’s thumping EDM track at 29, and a quirky semi-novelty with Primal Scream lower down.
