  1. Surprised to see so many of you loving Ain't In LA! Also good to see that Carly is still getting lots of love. In fact, Don't Leave Me On The Dance Floor was her 20th #1 on my charts, and she is only the fourth artist ever to get 20 chart toppers so far.

  3. Hi everyone, Thanks for the comments! Nice to see the love for Carly, Dara, Sienna and Katseye.
  4. This story keeps popping up on my Substack feed, and I have no idea why. I think it's totally irrelevant, to be honest. A mask mandate in 2026 is somewhat surprising, but it's not newsworthy at all. I also think it's crazy to see masks as a culture war thing because I'm very, very Asian culturally when it comes to masks.
  5. 1. Carly Rae Jepsen - Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor 2. New Radicals, Michelle Branch – The Game of Love 3. TaraElla - Give Peace a Chance 4. Mackenzie Carpenter - Kinda Want Your Man 5. Gabi Belle - City Girl 6. Kelly Clarkson - Golden 7. Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini - Closing Time 8. DARA - Bangaranga 9. KATSEYE - Animal 10. Sienna Spiro - Great Expectation This month, it's full-on 2000s nostalgia as two chart veterans who started out in the 2000s, Carly Rae Jepsen and Michelle Branch, battle it out for the top spot, thus proving that 2026 is indeed the new 2006! Meanwhile, last year's Yearly Number One winner Mackenzie Carpenter also has a new entry. Originally posted at https://taraella3.substack.com/p/taras-september-2026-playlistchart
  6. Thanks for the comments! Sergej and DaTilt, good to see Animal getting some love! JSG and Sergej, this Carly song is actually doing very well with me at the moment. So maybe it will climb even higher in the next chart. Late August also marked 19 years since Carly first charted on my charts, by the way.
  7. This one is rising rapidly on my charts!

  9. DaTilt and Sergej, thanks for your comments! Happy to see "I Can't Love You Anymore" getting some love here despite not (yet?) getting to the top in Billboard. Also happy to see "Great Expectation" getting some love, so underrated. JSG, also thanks for your comments. I think Pop! actually had three official singles in 2004, namely Heaven and Earth (#1 on my charts), Can't Say Goodbye (#1 on my charts), and Serious (#3 on my charts). I think Xanadu was supposed to be their fourth, it was leaked in early 2005, but the release was cancelled because the band broke up. Anyway, there are videos on YouTube explaining their history.

  14. Or is it an artifact of changing chart rules? I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I've even written a short article about it. Basically, country has always been big in America (and Canada and Australia), so the mystery should be why these countries weren't constantly having country hits in the top 10 in the past, rather than why country is doing so well now. What do you think? Also, besides country, what other genres do you think could be historically/currently undercounted by the charts?
  15. Same here. But's it's been happening for a long time for me. I guess I just don't jump at every new sound like when I was 15, because I've sort of heard the mediocre stuff over and over again by this point. This means something has to really 'prove itself' for me to like it.
  16. Thanks Sergej and DaTilt! Good to see someone else liking Get In Girl! Also nice to see that About You Now is still getting some love. It's almost 20 years old now.

  20. In an effort to promote storytelling, or 'singer-songwriter style' music, from this month onwards, these charts will be divided into a 'storytelling' section and an 'others' section. Both sections can contain a mix of new and catalog music (even though it's all new stuff for this month). Storytelling Music 1. Olivia Marsh ft. Yiruma - 42 2. Claude - C'est La Vie 3. 22. Interesting one. I voted Love Story simply because it went #1 in my own personal chart (in October 2008) while My Life Would Suck Without You peaked at #2 (in February 2009). Some other interesting facts: 1) Love Story was Taylor Swift's first #1 in my chart. She would go on to have more than 40! By comparison, while My Life Would Suck Without You missed out, Kelly Clarkson already had multiple #1s by that time, her first #1 being A Moment Like This way back in 2002. So Kelly was way more established back then. 2) While Love Story and My Love Would Suck Without You didn't have a chart battle in my chart, because they peaked at different times (in fact in different years), My Life Would Suck Without You actually battled White Horse, Taylor Swift's second #1, for the top spot, and lost. So My Life Would Suck Without You actually lost out to a Taylor Swift song in my chart, and this is the reason why it was never #1.
