Biography

Aubrey Drake Graham (born October 24, 1986) better known as simply Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He first garnered recognition for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He later rose to prominence as a rapper, releasing several mixtapes before signing to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment in June 2009.

 

Drake's EP, So Far Gone (2009), spawned the successful single "Best I Ever Had". His first studio album, Thank Me Later (2010), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and generated the single "Find Your Love". It was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His second album, Take Care (2011), is his most successful to date, topping charts in the United States and Canada and producing the singles "Take Care", "Make Me Proud" and "The Motto", the last of which is also credited for popularizing the widely used acronym YOLO. In promotion of his second album, Drake embarked on the worldwide Club Paradise Tour, which became the most successful hip-hop tour of 2012, grossing over $42 million. His third studio album Nothing Was the Same was released on September 24, 2013. It was supported by the singles "Started from the Bottom" and "Hold On, We're Going Home".

 

His work has earned him a Grammy Award, three Juno Awards, six BET Awards, and set several significant Billboard charts records. Drake has the most number-one singles on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart with 12 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 10. He is one of two artists (the other being 50 Cent) to have simultaneously occupied the chart's top three positions.

Nothing Like This is still quite good.

With this week's #18 position, 'Nothing Like This' officially spends more weeks top 20 than Blonde's #4 'All Cried Out' spent in the top 40, despite its #15 peak.

Biography

The Stone Roses are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1983. They were one of the pioneering groups of the Madchester movement that was active during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band's most successful lineup consists of vocalist Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani, and drummer Reni.

 

The band released their debut album, The Stone Roses, in 1989. The album was a breakthrough success for the band and garnered critical acclaim, with many critics regarding it as one of the greatest British albums ever recorded. At this time the group decided to capitalise on their success by signing to a major label. Their current record label, Silvertone, would not let them out of their contract, which led to a long legal battle that culminated with the band signing with Geffen Records in 1991. The Stone Roses then released their second album, Second Coming, which was met with lacklustre reviews in 1994. The group soon disbanded after several lineup changes throughout the supporting tour, which began with Reni first departing in late 1995, followed by Squire in April 1996. Brown and Mani dissolved the remains of the group in October 1996 following their appearance at the Reading Festival.

 

Following much intensified media speculation, The Stone Roses called a press conference on 18 October 2011 to announce that the band had reunited and would perform a reunion tour of the world in 2012, including three homecoming shows in Heaton Park, Manchester. Plans to record a third album in the future were also floated. In June 2012, Chris Coghill, the writer of the new film which is set during the Stone Roses 1990 Spike Island show, revealed that the band "have at least three or four new tracks recorded". In June 2013, a documentary about the band's reformation directed by Shane Meadows and titled The Stone Roses: Made of Stone was released. - Wikipedia

Extremely steady top 20 chart run for Blonde and Craig David.

The Stone Roses are back!

 

I really like this song aswell.

Well this is fairly average. Really don't get the big fuss and I imagine if the band hadn't been away for over 20 years this wouldn't be doing half as well.

I'm not hugely fussed on All For One, but MY GOD is it refreshing to hear? In both sound and the fact it's not been around for about 20 weeks already.

I suppose we should be thankful for the song's chart entry just for that reason, it's always good to hear new songs in the chart.

Only hear for Stone Roses this week *.* Sounds SO refreshing next to the same twenty four songs I've been hearing for the last month, quite amazing that something like this can get top 20 in today even with their big comeback (and the fact it's dropping like a stone (lol) all week).

 

It does seem very much in the same vein as Love Spreads etc., but still 90s alt rock isn't prevalent enough these days.

From the free-living enclave of Christiania in Copenhagen, Lukas Graham and his boys -- Mark "Lovestick" Falgren on drums, Kasper Daugaard on keys, and Magnus "Magnum" Larsson on bass -- crafted a combination of funky pop and R&B stylings, which made them popular in their home country of Denmark.
