Posted June 17, 20169 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/36562570 Russian athletes remain banned from international competition including the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Athletics chiefs have decided not to lift the suspension, which was imposed in November following accusations of state-sponsored doping. But individual athletes can compete as neutrals if they prove they are clean. This has been overshadowed in UK media for obvious reasons, but it really is huge news. I never thought they'd actually end up being unable to compete. edit: corrected title because I can't read. The ban only applies to athletes in athletics. Edited June 17, 20169 yr by Harve
June 18, 20169 yr Massive news indeed following the headlines we've had about state-sponsored doping. It is a bit harsh but you would every person who is completing in Russia in athletics to be clean. Harsh on one of the greatest women's pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva who has said that she'll challenge the ruling given by IAAF.
