July 28, 20168 yr Wow I'm surprised Aladdin is so low, I expected this to be top 3, im still waiting for my favourite film so since this was so low I'm hoping that mine won't be next
July 29, 20168 yr Author 12. Frozen // Avg. 8.906 Highest Scores: 11: (Beatrix Kiddo, Ultraviolence1989), 10: (SamJudd, Regina, bartsimpson, Aaron TM, Qween) Lowest Scores: 4: (Mike Sugafan) Box Office Gross: $1,274,234,980 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89% At #12 and probably coming as a big surprise to many is the phenomenon 'Frozen', and well what can I say about this, that hasn't been said before. Well for a start if you love it or hate it, it really doesn't matter this was big, I mean BIG, it totally blew up in a way that nobody ever expected, I remember during the 90's when The Lion King, became such a cultural icon, but this just basically blew that out of the water with it's status.. I've never seen anything like it (for a Disney film), this just became such a talking point with everybody, even people who didn't see it, this just resonated with so many people on such different levels, it was more of an experience than anything else. Does this deserve all the hype and glory or is it overrated...Well I have to day I love it and of course something this huge will have it's share of haters, but that's expected, you can't please everyone. This movie is just so great and ticks every box possible, the set designs, the backdrops and story are all amazing and fascinating, everything was just so beautifully animated and wonderful to look at. The characters are just as iconic and are what really makes this whole thing work, Elsa a strong willed and independent, her fear of hurting people with her power and wanting to shut herself away, really spoke to people and you really do feel her pain, she's alone and free at the same time, I can see why everybody loved this character. Then there's her sister Anna who in some ways is polar opposite to her sister, she is more energetic, believing in love at first sight, longing to be free, but she is also really complex, brave and together with Elsa, they make the perfect team. Olaf The Snowman, who is the fun side character, the comic relief you might say, with the right amount of balance of comedy and heart, he is just a terrific character. The ever loveable Kristoff the kind of character whose allowed to be who he is, he is just fantastic, witty and has great chemistry with Anna, and then finally there's Hans whose the unlikely villain, but of course doesn't start out that way, he comes across as very likeable and charming, until his true intentions are revealed and that does add more layers to him, as it was a genuinely surprising moment and very effective. Then there's the songs, they are just so beautiful and memorable, Let It Go was a well and truly powerful and beautiful moment in the film, and everybody remembers that scene which made everybody sit up and take notice of Elsa's pain, I know most people are probably sick of that song due to it being played to death, but you have to admit that Idina Menzel's vocals does make the whole thing more powerful. In fact all of the songs in this are well written and fantastically performed. The final moments of this movie is what really takes you by surprise, while the romance and true love angle is still there, however it's the true love between sisters is what the message is all about here, and it does an excellent job of showing the power of each kind of love has and that final scene between the sisters was a welcomed surprise, and really quite refreshing. On the whole, yes this movie has been overexposed, but what an impact it had, I can't remember the last time, a movie had everybody talking about it like this had, everything in this movie just works perfectly and it well and truly deserves it's iconic status. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Jrhutf1-Abw/UtUrWaAZEuI/AAAAAAAAFMw/oZQHYVxmp3Q/s1600/Elsa-Snow-Queen-GIF-Disney-Frozen.gif http://s.minutebuzz.com/o/2015/07/tumblr_mxh92oG3xS1sotuj5o1_500.gif http://cdn2.crushable.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Frozen-Elsa-strut.gif http://24.media.tumblr.com/6783d7d5c5fb8dd5bbbcd413eddae29c/tumblr_n5dpec2wC01tbo9r0o1_500.gif
July 31, 20168 yr I still think this is a good but not great film saved by great music. Tangled was soooooooooo much better than this.
July 31, 20168 yr That position is right for Frozen, it's a good film and generally progressive in terms of themes and portrayal of females so it's hype was a good thing, but outside of that, it lacks the sense of humour and slight 'edge' that the better Disney films have. That said, Aladdin that low is ridiculous, it's everything brilliant in a Disney film and a deserved classic and Bambi...I can't say too much as I just cry thinking about THAT SCENE  Edited July 31, 20168 yr by Chez Wombat
July 31, 20168 yr Agree with Chez, A bit baffled by that Aladdin placement...You need to re-watch it Sam!
July 31, 20168 yr Author http://www.impawards.com/1937/posters/snow_white_and_the_seven_dwarfs_ver3.jpg 11. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs // Avg. 8.941 Highest Scores: 11: (Jimmy Jam, Alex), 10: (SamJudd, Beatrix Kiddo, Harry Ezra, Ultraviolence1989, bartsimpson) Lowest Scores: 6: (HausofKubrick) Box Office Gross: $418,200,000 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 98% Just outside the top 10 is the one that started it all 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs', which also means that we lose the last of the Golden Age Era of Disney movies in this countdown. This was also the first ever feature length animated movie released way back in 1937 and was a big risk, but which paid off when it became the highest grossing movie of the year and still to this day is much loved. But how does it hold up after all these years...well I'd have to say really well actually with a story that's familiar enough and I guess pretty much everybody knows how this story goes, it's quite simple but very much effective. Even the animation doesn't seem too outdated considering it's nearly 80 years old, it's very artistic, the castle and landscapes look like beautiful paintings, as well as the forest which by day beautiful and green, then at night full of dark and scary images, the movements of the characters may not be as fluid as later Disney films, but it was their first attempt, which is still pretty impressive. Definite standout moments includes the evil Queen's transformation into the old hag was truly frightening, especially for small children, and Snow White getting lost in the woods which is very dramatic and perfectly illustrated by it's effective score. The characters are very memorable here with the 7 dwarfs being so loveable and each displaying different characteristics, their work song Heigh-Ho is still as catchy and wonderful to this day as it's always been and The Evil Queen whose so obsessed with beauty and vanity, despite being the Queen of the castle, she's just excellent with her very striking image and cold and cruel demeanour. Snow White herself is while very nice and beautiful doesn't have much character to her, that's due to being a product of the time, but her presence is very classy and just the way she is with her surroundings and the way she interacts with the dwarfs, she is just someone with a big heart, and her bond with the dwarfs is very genuine. The weaker aspect of this though is the relationship between Snow White and The Prince which is pretty non-existent , as he is given no name and only has 2 scenes and basically he's only there to kiss Snow White at the end. The funeral scene towards the end was very heartbreaking with each of the dwarfs in tears was very upsetting and moving, even though you know things are gonna be alright in the end, it's still a heartwrenching scene. On the whole whether you may like it or not, it's still a classic and a landmark of achievement in animation and if it wasn't for this, then we wouldn't have had any of the other classics that followed this through the years and this is a definite must for any fans of Disney animations and a very important movie in the Walt Disney collection. http://24.media.tumblr.com/cd7ce32ebf4a653ce8607bc5db07037c/tumblr_midor5rtqc1rnhveno1_500.gif http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2vsgkno9c1qm6oc3o1_500.gif http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/24800000/Snow-White-and-the-Seven-Dwarfs-snow-white-and-the-seven-dwarfs-24821652-499-281.gif http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24300000/Snow-White-and-the-Seven-Dwarfs-snow-white-and-the-seven-dwarfs-24301700-500-333.gif http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24300000/Snow-White-and-the-Seven-Dwarfs-snow-white-and-the-seven-dwarfs-24301547-500-286.gif http://31.media.tumblr.com/917a81888af9af6d0b67a7700fe3a603/tumblr_mrqv8rY8Nz1r4orq1o1_500.gif http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsc2yohjgZ1qi4ns0o1_500.gif

August 9, 20168 yr Author http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/tangled_movie_poster.jpg 10. Tangled // Avg. 8.968 Highest Scores: 11: (Regina, Kylie Jackson), 10: (Jimmy Jam, SamJudd, Beatrix Kiddo, Ultraviolence1989, bartsimpson) Lowest Scores: 5: (HausofKubrick) Box Office Gross: $586,581,936 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89% Kicking off the top 10 in such wonderful style is 'Tangled' which like 'The Princess and the Frog' & 'Frozen', takes a traditional fairy tale, in this case it's Rapunzel and subverts it, I know Disney has done this countless times in the past as well, but I still think it's great that we're still getting Disney Princess's for a new generation to enjoy. Also I think that this is Disney's first attempt at a romantic comedy, and that's what I love about it, the opposites attract, romantic banter, witty dialogue and terrific characters, therefore ticking all the right boxes. I think a lot of what makes 'Tangled' work is the solid production by not only updating a traditional fairy tale, but making it appealing to both girls and boys with the romantic elements mixed with a healthy dose of action and adventure which makes all the choices they made to this a much stronger overall feature. When we're introduced to the character of Rapunzel we're quickly feel a connection to her with the song 'When Will My Life Begin' which has a ton of narrative as well as being a memorable and beautifully sung song, she does her best to be optimistic and hopeful while basically being a prisoner, she's a very likeable and smart person and instantly we want her to succeed. Then there's the awesome Flynn Ryder the romantic lead and we get to see a lot of him as he also narrates the story, he's so suave and rogueish, but with a really good heart, and he pulls it off really well, making his relationship with Rapunzel a definite highlight of the movie, they have so much chemistry and spark between them it sizzles. The villain Mother Gothel whose just wonderful using her role as the mother to manipulate Rapunzel, making her all so twisted and just brilliant with such wicked humour, I would definitely rank her as one of Disney's greatest villains. Even the side characters are a delight including Maximus the horse who is just hilarious and not having a voice was a smart decision as he displays so much personality in facial expressions than words ever could. The animation in this is just stunning especially the lanterns scene which was just so beautiful and breathtaking. So on the whole I don't think there's anything bad I could say about this movie, everything just works so well here the story is strong, the music is great and the characters are fantastic, I would definitely rank this as one of my all-time favourite Disney movies and a well deserved top 10 placing on here. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IcDMOYGvjVg/VOKQ0xCu_6I/AAAAAAAAKRo/5cbqbnAbOtE/s1600/giphy.gif http://i.imgur.com/BHYN302.gif http://33.media.tumblr.com/b7817a82acbaa50f78e7b36e394fcc16/tumblr_nbm4xsAwbM1sq85i2o3_500.gif http://67.media.tumblr.com/8404dfb93f96dfae80823e6624d11b2e/tumblr_inline_npuyixiqWQ1sl560d_500.gif http://i56.tinypic.com/6f8c4x.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/akd0js.jpg http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/26800000/cute-tangled-26825247-500-250.gif http://umad.com/img/2015/9/tangled-maximus-gif-1163-1240-hd-wallpapers.jpg
August 12, 20168 yr Author 09. Sleeping Beauty // Avg. 8.970 Highest Scores: 11: (Jimmy Jam, Alex, Mike Sugafan, Kylie Jackson), 10: (SamJudd, Beatrix Kiddo, Ultraviolence1989, bartsimpson, Qween) Lowest Scores: 5: (HausofKubrick) Box Office Gross: $51,600,000 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92% At #9 we have 'Sleeping Beauty' which does earn a well deserved respectable position on this countdown with several high scores consisting of 4 11's & 5 10's, as well as a few 9's and 8's. Like so many of Walt Disney's animated features post 'Snow White' this was yet another failure on it's original release, and again like all the others gained a lot more love and respect many years later, but in this case though it would be the last Princess themed feature for 30 years. Which was such a shame as this was one of his most visually stunning movies he's ever done with it's medieval artwork look with such interesting and beautiful layers and with such elaborate backdrops that are richly coloured and textured. Apart from just being beautiful to look at the story and the characters are very interesting and yes some things in this movie doesn't quite work like the Kings drinking scene was very pointless and the woodland animals doesn't quite gel, and okay Aurora herself may be a little bland and the only memorable thing she does in the story is sleep, but isn't that kinda the point, I mean the movie is called 'Sleeping Beauty' after all and anyway she is very beautiful and definitely ranks as one of Disney's most beautifully designed Princesses. We also get some great action scenes as well along with a fantastic villain who really pushes the characters to their limits and all results in a very thrilling final climax. Obviously the most memorable of these characters is the villain Maleficent whose just very entertaining with such a commanding presence and just steals every scene she's in. The three fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are pretty well fleshed out for side characters, they each bring something to the story and they are really funny together and just loveable. Then there's Prince Phillip who was the first Prince to be given any sort of character and the fact that we get to see more of him really works well, he shows many sides to his personality he's sweet, romantic and strong as well as courageous, and he does play a large part in the story itself. So on the whole 'Sleeping Beauty' is a wonderful movie with such interesting story telling that flows at a decent pace and visually it's one of Disney's strongest and greatest movies. http://media3.giphy.com/media/QJG0fRRUZiK5i/giphy.gif http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8nznmHYRA1ruz9j7.gif http://66.media.tumblr.com/42fcc015dcf4755179e530e678ccfb29/tumblr_inline_mlrvt8aMAE1qz4rgp.gif http://24.media.tumblr.com/3f825a531d9a5cf9f31f5611c7f8c16a/tumblr_mw7kn9ZrqT1smgbrgo1_500.gif http://www.gifwave.com/media/390460_cartoons-comics-disney-quote-sleeping-beauty-maleficent.gif http://31.media.tumblr.com/61e564e77f8e16bc427374602008f6eb/tumblr_myzu4sLoFB1sv8qf6o3_500.gif http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9jdbhPFK81qkg5u5o1_500.gif http://img.pandawhale.com/91859-Maleficent-appears-gif-Sleepin-cfE2.gif http://66.media.tumblr.com/a363a42e565c4995f4aa013faa6f7325/tumblr_nrwe2x4rl91s8lk9fo1_500.gif http://66.media.tumblr.com/3dcfaf305f6bd7c83c393a7b64be364a/tumblr_n6c96feCNs1rawb5do4_500.gif http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/22300000/Sleeping-Beauty-sleeping-beauty-22345818-500-192.gif http://gallery.tinyletterapp.com/5586f723b09a621fa8b1cf1025f76fcf30e5ed8c/images/c30f57fa-5f9d-46ec-82c1-572770e2521b.gif
August 12, 20168 yr Frozen is far too low, especially being the lowest of the new Disney Renaissance movies :(Â Agree with Chez, A bit baffled by that Aladdin placement...You need to re-watch it Sam! I do need to watch it again to see if I missed something. But there is just something I really hate about it, especially A Whole New World.
August 14, 20168 yr Author http://www.impawards.com/2016/posters/zootopia_ver2.jpg 08. Zootopia // Avg. 9.000 Highest Scores: 10: (Joe, Chez Wombat, Ultraviolence1989, bartsimpson, Mike Sugafan), 9: (Beatrix Kiddo, Josh, Qween) Lowest Scores: 6: (HausofKubrick) Box Office Gross: $1,021,768,248 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 98% At #8 and coming in as a total surprise 'Zootopia', which despite not gaining any 11's, manages a very decent position in the top 10. If it was based on scores, then this would have been a lot lower, due to it not getting that many rates, but the scores it did get were really high and therefore managed a healthy average of 9. Given the fact that this movie is so recent, also makes it quite a feat, I was expecting this to be around top 30 personally and while I do like this movie it is great and everything, I just feel that it's placing here is a tad bit high, especially given that it's only 6 months old. I have watched this movie twice now, on my first viewing I did like it and on my 2nd viewing I enjoyed it even more as it is a real gem of a movie with an interesting plot and an intriguing mystery that keeps you glued to the screen the entire time and it manages to weave together emotion, comedy and beautiful visuals really well. As well as tackling some serious issues such as tolerance, hatred, racism, fear and bullying with such effectiveness and never gets too preachy or heavy handed with it's message and using an all animal cast and world was very interesting, and I know Disney has done this many times before, but here it really works well within the context within' the story. It's also remarkable how likeable the characters are with Judy Hopps fast becoming a firm all-time fave of mine with her spirit and never giving up on her dreams and willing to go that extra mile, and Nick Wilde the fox is slick, sarcastic and sweet in his own way and the two of them together make an excellent team and have such amazing chemistry together. Like I already said the visuals are stunning and the world building is just so inventive and remarkable. So on the whole yes 'Zooptopia' is a great movie and well deserved it's massive success at the box office and can see why it's critically acclaimed. http://66.media.tumblr.com/55619c134fd54fb7ddfe6efeeef77c2c/tumblr_nz8l3k4pu91tzs0jgo4_400.gif http://67.media.tumblr.com/5b79e8dc58c1daedca32aea1568b5a9f/tumblr_o2jwpqG6Jh1s7sn9ho9_500.gif http://45.media.tumblr.com/439e88f6204c9ebad55cc408472555f1/tumblr_o5u1wlmmLX1vrvp01o1_500.gif
August 15, 20168 yr Big Hero 6 and Zootropolis are among the best animated films of the 21st century. There's a really good balance between humour, character, story and the all important cuteness. It's also good to see them embracing contemporary life again (albeit stretching the imagination) instead of raiding classic storybooks. Disney hasn't been this good since Walt died.
August 15, 20168 yr Zootropolis is incredible, still my favourite film of the year  Really glad to see it already having a very strong impact here!
August 15, 20168 yr Glad to see Zootropolis doing so well. I'm glad. It's easily one of my favourite Disney movies ever created! I've seen it about 6 times now, not afraid to admit that (lol)!!
August 15, 20168 yr I am glad Tangled top 10 even if not my favourite Disney classic film but still pretty good *.*
August 19, 20168 yr Author http://www.impawards.com/2012/posters/wreckit_ralph_ver11.jpg 07. Wreck It Ralph // Avg. 9.107 Highest Scores: 11: (bartsimpson, Josh, Qween), 10: (SamJudd, Cameron, Chez Wombat, Ultraviolence1989) Lowest Scores: 6: (HausofKubrick, Mike Sugafan) Box Office Gross: $496,511,521 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86% At #7 we have 'Wreck It Ralph' which in itself has such an interesting and brilliant concept: An arcade villain who dreams of becoming an hero and travels to other games in his quest for glory. Plus we get a few cameos of other well known arcade game characters such as Pacman, Sonic & Bowser. It's an hilarious and sharp witted look at video games and taking the 'Toy Story' concept of what happens when the lights go out and the humans go home. There are 4 main worlds in this movie, such as Ralph's traditional 80's arcade world, Hero's Duty which is a Halo type world and Sugar Rush which is a play on a gam called Sugar Crush, then there's the train depot which connects them all. Each of these worlds are each unique and beautifully created with rich textures and vibrant colouring. Although I would have liked a bit more time spent on some of these worlds that they are created as the main bulk of the movie is spent on the Candyland type world. The voicecast is really good with John C.Reilly whose fantastic as Ralph and Sarah Silverman as Vanellope is also great and the relationship between the two is very heartwarming and touching, Alan Tudyk is also fantastic as the villain King Candy and Sergeant Calhoun voiced by Jane Lynch was a total blast with exceptional vocal talent. So on the whole I just found this whole movie highly enjoyable and a hell of a lot of fun, especially if you're into these old arcade games where you will understand all the inside jokes and even if you're not there's still a lot to invest in here, there's just a great time to be had here and so glad it's managed to get a high position here and while it may not suit everybody's tastes, it's still a brilliant movie with a great concept. http://i.imgur.com/PSNMq0p.gif http://37.media.tumblr.com/7c6e2fa8acf07d71055a9135392c8a77/tumblr_n3skkvLh3K1trmkp7o1_500.gif http://24.media.tumblr.com/a8247ad2833509de858dcd392722967d/tumblr_mitip7WDKY1qgsxzlo2_r1_500.gif http://24.media.tumblr.com/187d2035b0e09bda93b6c02e3fb3d606/tumblr_mfjiieNnYN1rp0vkjo1_500.gif http://www.gamedots.mx/media/gd/tumblr_m57wfy3tdl1qbojrlo2_500.gif
