Rude, I didnt get anything

I was going to harass you separately until you vote later :kink:

Voted. Some really good songs in there, compared to a 1 point score of 7.3 in BJSC 83 and 6.4 in BJSC 84 this got a 1 point score of 7.7, so it's 0.4 better than 83 and 1.3 better than 84
Michael's inbox was full

This seems to be a bit of a theme :kink: #noshade or whatever

My votes will be in, really want to support my favourites (Tartford! Syndare! Séyetana! + others, including anything from semi 2 I'll like that I haven't heard yet), but like in the last final, I'm afraid they will be in really last minute-ish again.

Only just hit half votes, not to be a twat about it because I know people sometimes can't help it (there are a few who's circumstances I know and understand for being busy or out of their control) but I have a life too and it does take a long time to prep finals so it is a tad annoying when over half of the entrants leave it until the last minute

I don't see why some people seem to get a kcik form making host's lives so much harder than they need to be by not bothering to vote until the last second.

Understanable if you have rea issues but "oh I was asleep" or "lol last minute again lol bantz" is a piss poor excuse. If you can't dedicate the time then don't enter?

One of the worst things about hosting is having to do it all in a rush at the end.

I wonder if the rule that results must be delivered within 20 hours of the deadline could be relaxed a bit, or extended to 48 hours, considering so many people seem to like to vote at the absolute last second. It's not like all hosts can just give up their entire next day to devote to BJSC prep, and that's near enough how long it takes when so many votes come in at the last minute every month!

It's been the case for as long as I remember unfortunately. Some people are happy to have 1 listen and send votes off straight away earlier in the week, some people prefer to listen multiple times over the voting period in case there are growers so therefore leave it until the final day. I don't think it's a matter of not being able to dedicate the time, in fact the late voters arguably dedicate more time that earlier voters in several instances due to repeat listenings so their votes are as representative as possible. It just unfortunately has the follow-on effect of making life harder for the host but it's the way it has always been. It's a lose-lose situation in some ways.

EDIT: That rule is there but I think it has been waived on occasions where the host hasn't been able to manage that, it just encourages next day results as that is what lots of people want - whereas if it was specified 48 hours then 90% of hosts would use that extra day frustrating a lot of members.

"its the way it always has been" is the worst kind of excuse, that doesn't mean nothing should happen about it. More often than not it's actually just laziness for the majority of people.

I'm voting right now, sorry about leaving it relatively last minute, partly why I left this so late was because my votes were VERY hard to decide this time (like Ryan says, I can't vote on just one half arsed listen unless I'm super busy, I need to make sure I include all the songs I want to) and I have been a bit busy over the last week and today I've had a free day to finalise them.

Anyway, this is surely the strongest final this year, Semi 1 was definitely more my thing and made up for the losses from Semi 2. Wonderful stuff. I'm really into all of the seeming contenders going by the odds threads this time too, which is a bonus.

I'm not making excuses, just an observation.

Maybe it is time to implement what I've daydreamed about in my head since Eurovision this year and group all of the last day voters into one dramatic combined vote at the end. Multiple benefits to this would be that it would encourage voters to not leave it till the last day as if they did they wouldn't get their moment of fame in the results thread (except for the spreadsheet at the end), there would be less prep work (probably 40 individual votes instead of 60+), a guaranteed exciting ending instead of knowing the winner multiple votes from the end and also a shorter results show that may only go on for 3 hours rather than 5. Sounds perfect! *.* (I know no-one would agree to this but I can dream :heehee:)

Oh I agree that last minute voting is incredibly frustrating, I have always arranged the results of a contest to be on a day I am not at work or Uni so that I can count

I don't really think late voters put in more effort to listening, I think it is more to do with either working full time and not having a moment to vote, or just being lazy and putting it off and then realising you have to vote an hour before the deadline.

I'm not making excuses, just an observation.

The repeated listens thing might be true but I mean people who vote early in the week run the risk of "oh I should have given that 15 instead of 11", I've had that myself. It hardly matters and it's hardly the end of the world.

I know I might be coming across as throwing my toys out of the pram or being a lazy host but it's just a thing I've noticed, plus I'm a worrier and keep thinking what if there are still like 15 votes missing, what if I do things wrong in the midst of it all (I do like triple check though ). I know that people work, have whatever they're doing and that's fine, but equally I think some people just leave it out of laziness or they can't be arsed and don't realise how much work it takes to prep them all. I'm not expecting everyone to explain themselves either it's just me airing my frustration more than anything. This is probably partly me assuming hosting would be easier than it is

That is a very good idea! :cheer:
