July 10, 20169 yr Author That's mainly because people take more of a risk when they AQ and do less well, making it seem like they get less attention because they AQed. I AQ'ed and came 2nd, so it's not as if your chances are any less I used it to take a little bit if a risk tbh :P

July 10, 20169 yr First veto in over 30 contests! Oh well, thought with the fact that "Arigato" had been mentioned a whole massive ONE time on the entire of Buzzjack would have meant that, even with 22 veto points, it would have still been a discovery for most people. Back to my original song. Edited July 10, 20169 yr by Oliver

July 10, 20169 yr Well it was top 25 in Belgium, but I think it was more the Stevie Wonder thing (and Bob's name power). Even without those 7 points, you only need one 12 point offence to be vetoable (or 14 from smaller offences), so a 12-pointer is just as easily dismissed as the others if the mods aren't keen on it. Yeah I know that. It wasnt aimed at this song, but I feel like top 60 in France being worth 7 points is a biT ridiculous in the grand scheme. I mean top 40 woulda been worthy I think. (Also Belgium isnt included in the framework, cause its such a tiny music industry. It really shouldnt be thoo)
July 10, 20169 yr The framework covers the chart of that country so if the country has a top 75 then all 75 spots count as 7 points.
July 10, 20169 yr That does seem kinda excessive that a song would get the same points for peaking at #72 as it would for #11  Edited July 10, 20169 yr by Regina
July 10, 20169 yr poor mdh :( 7 points for being top60 in Belgium and France does seem a bit steep, considering a song in the top40 of the global Spotify chart got waved through last month~ spinnin' and ministry of sound are labels not blogs  ~ josepvinaixa is basically a release schedule as it seems to cover what's out not what's necessarily hot or popular~ was anyone entering this competition actually alive in the 60s? were most competitors’ parents even born then? the whole blanket red flag for an artist or song charting in the top40 pre-2000 is a ludicrous use of sledgehammer to crack a peanut of 'jolene' being entered a few years back! :P
July 10, 20169 yr Really anything can be cheap these days! I only knew one of the vetos other than mine prior to the contest and before the framework change I usually knew all of them. Back to the drawing board for me, I guess! Edited July 10, 20169 yr by Math ☂
July 10, 20169 yr That does seem kinda excessive that a song would get the same points for peaking at #72 as it would for #10  Well top 10 woulda been 12 but your point still stands as #11
July 10, 20169 yr I do find it all a bit too harsh now but I guess it's lose lose for the mods because we all used to think it was too relaxed  we need a happy medium because it's getting to the point where songs that would be discoveries for literally 99% of the people are being thrown out because they're top 75 in Afghanistan or something and it's preventing a lot of good music being discovered (which is the point of the contest at the end of the day and we can't lose sight of that!) Gosh I do not envy the mods' job ~
July 10, 20169 yr Another Veto Howler will be winging its way in soon! #HarryPotterreference omg where is this tho!!!!!1
