Posted July 6, 20169 yr M7zxAI3GW2o Is this their first effort without Alice? It's very typically them and I quite like it on first listen, definitely good to hear something new from them anyway. (ps I'm convinced I must have missed a thread somewhere for this but I can't see one in recent times?) Edited July 14, 20169 yr by 152chris
July 6, 20169 yr Author A quick look on iTunes reveals that they released Frail and Decide last year? They went completely over my head then...! :o
July 7, 20169 yr I think there's a thread for the album somewhere. Confirmed for release in August I believe. I'm quite liking this on first listen too!
July 7, 20169 yr LUSH deicide and frail have been relegated to DEMO status anyways atm thom* so ur not missing anything too official atm!
July 14, 20169 yr its been changed to 'Amnesty (I)' on itunes.... looks like Ethan's wiping the slate clean
July 22, 20169 yr I like their style but I'm still hoping for something more experimental. So far the new album sounds the same as stuff from years ago.
August 18, 20168 yr a pretty monotone and unmemorable effort from them. i'm kinda disappointed. alice clearly was a big part of the duo despite ethan saying otherwise and this album proves that. however, it's still a solid 7/10 effort on first couple of listens. i'm sure some songs will grow but i doubt they will help amnesty (i) reach the 9.5-10/10 heights of the first three albums. 'kept' is a complete tune though. but i'm a sucker for accordion-esque instruments so this one was obvious.
August 18, 20168 yr Author Whilst I do still like Concrete, my general impression of everything so far is slightly lacklustre compared to the Alice days. I don't think it's just the vocals either, the production feels more basic too.
August 19, 20168 yr soz lewwcakes, i don't really do mp3s anymore :'( why did they keep 'kept' off the album on Apple Music tho. the best song and it's not there
August 19, 20168 yr Is this really over £10 for a digital copy? Jesus. seriously???? ugh i was gna buy this today too but jeezus
August 22, 20168 yr Everyone seems to be disappointed by this album though it's anything but worse than II and III. It's that the context changed - the whole witch/lo-fi genre became closer to mainstream than it was in 2010-2013 so CC don't sound as contrasting today. The media dramatizing Alice's departure added up to negative anticipation. But really, this album has quality, style and poetry.
August 26, 20168 yr Author I eventually downloaded this despite it being so expensive... and I'm liking it so far. It is different to previous material but it's not bad...
