October 5, 20168 yr ^same here went to this event in Berlin over the weekend, Nameless Endless, Bon Iver and The National guys were the organisers, a kinda hippie festival where performance were random and you didn't know who you were gonna see... luckily I got to see all my favourites (Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan, Kings of Convenience) and got to see a lot of Bon Iver first a solo performance just him on piano doing old songs and the Bonnie Raitt cover in the tiniest room for like 50 people änd then a performance of the new album in full, with the band, in a room for like 200 people plus him performing random collaborations with many people like the National guys Fionn Regan, some rappers :)
October 5, 20168 yr So much music to listen to this week, it's almost overwhelming. Finally given this a couple of spins and it is a stunning record, really is a joy to listen to. Feel like the first few tracks are the weakest and then it just keeps getting better. So many moments and I'm sure it will keep revealing itself over time too.
October 6, 20168 yr actually the album is much less electronic that I thought in the beginning... the singles were a bit mis-representatrive of the album, especially the 2nd part of the album is more "regular" Bon Iver
December 5, 20168 yr A few months later and it's still one of my most played albums right now. "8 (circle)" is my favourite song of the year by far. The build-up and climax are literal perfection. I want it to play at my eventual funeral.
