The James Arthur One is amazing. IT needs to pick up on Spotify like now... and he will be preforming at the X Factor for sure!

Will be interesting to see if it climbs on spotify in todays update.

I guess not to much :| No playlists too much yet :|

ouch I miscalculated when adding up the different Calum versions, he's #2 but just barely ahead...

1 Chainsmokers 1.00

2 Calum Scott 0.586

3 DJ Snake 0.567

4 James Arthur 0.545

5 Sia 0.52

Is this a new release?

Yes but were any of those even anticipated to a big release?

But the point is, they include much smaller releases than that from completely unknown artists, so why not those?

In other news, YAY for the return of Pro Green :D gonna check it out right now, it better not disappoint!!

Number 3 Itunes and 139 Spotify :| James.

It's an outrage how much influence the curated playlists have on the chart now. I know it's never been a truly level playing field - in the physical era it was largely down to availability e.g. not being stocked in Woolies meant you had no chance of making the top 10. But it feels wrong that a song can go top 5 on iTunes and still not be top 100 on Spotify.

Plus we have records that have had absolutely no mainstream support (and next to no downloads) making the official top 100 purely because they have managed to get on these playlists.

The iTunes chart should be a featured playlist - updated every morning with the iTunes top 50.

Yeah, premiered last night on 1Xtra. Comeback track, doesn't sound like it's aimed at the charts.

Yes, because Spotify would realistically make a playlist advertising their main competitor.

It's so sad that iTunes' influence on the charts is declining. This forum pretty much grew with the download era. The chart definitely needs tweaking somehow.

I only just realised James Arthur is #3 :o its been awhile since I've been on LPB. Since when has he became relevant.

Lady Gaga is probably coming for a top 20 entry.

I think the spotify updates are becoming more accurate lately, the download era is fast diminishing, something needs to be done

i thought james arthur was problematic....? why are people even giving him the time of day

Me too.. I'm a bit confused as to where his boost has come from.

To be fair, it's no better or worse than some of the things you come out with at times.

Because that was in the past and people have moved on.....

The chart needs some sensible recurrency rules. That's the only thing that I can think of that would make sense. Tweaking the chart to decrease the impact of streaming and increase the impact of iTunes downloads doesn't make sense as streaming is growing and downloading is declining.
