The R1's Best New Pop actually sounds interesting, playing new music from artists I don't think I heard on R1 daytime before and playing future hits from well known artists.

True about James Arthur. Calvin was A Listed all this week until Friday so I guess that's why it's featured here.

So Closer is #1 on R1 Airplay Chart. It's also no longer on the playlists. Going to be a little awkward when they reveal the chart next week...

Some B listed tracks regularly get as many plays a week as an A List track - generally tracks that are released that week.

I hope this is the start of a few more new features implimented into the R1 format - hopefully a revamp of the chart is included :heehee:

What Radio 1 really should be doing is making R1's Best New Pop a playlist on Spotify and promoting it on their social media.

 

If R1 want to stay relevant to the younger generation Spotify integration is essential.
