Ah nice! Yeah can't imagine Bulgaria gets too much action from the big cycling races - this is certainly the first time I've seen racing there! The second crash in two days today though, this time with a few riders abandoning slightly evened out by our first ever Uruguayan winner of a Grand Tour stage in Guillermo Thomas Silva! Always good to see new countries making an appearance. This is also when I start clocking team name changes - Ineos are now 'Netcompany Ineos', the first time Ineos haven't been the lead sponsor since they took over which is interesting. Also curious as to whether the team with 'Visit Malta' in their name think that that makes me more likely to visit Malta?

That was quite a crash yesterday - I guess it did result in an unexpected winner though, and the first French pink jersey in three years!

Tunisia are a team I've thought very little about in the run-up to this contest! Not expecting much from them but if they make it into the Round of 16 or beyond I'll be all behind them.

Love the DR Congo kit - so vibrant! One of the main reasons I'm glad they qualified.

Almost forgot to vote but remembered as I was making my way home! I also voted Green - although I expect the Conservative candidate will win in my ward.

South Africa will be interesting - I've not really paid much attention to them since 2010 and I gather they weren't the top seeded team in their qualifying group this time round, but then again they wouldn't have wialofied for the 2010 World Cup if they weren't hosting it and they still managed a respectable four points. Given the group they've landed in they certainly have a chance of getting out.

I'll leave my comments on Morocco for when we get to them but I do think there's a chance that Scotland can finish second in their group - they managed to dispatch Denmark during qualifying after all! I can't see Saudi doing too much but never say never, after all they did get that win against Argentina last time round.

With Leeds winning against Burnley and West Ham losing today, I think that means now that Leeds only need three points to guarantee safety - maybe less depending on how the Spurs game goes tomorrow.

Well done to Ipswich! I was hoping Millwall might overtake them as I've never seen them in the Premier League before, but it certainly gives Ipswich another shot at top division football.

Final matchday today - it really is going down to the wire this year with three teams in the running to take that second spot!

Jordan are another one I don't know much about! From an outsider's perspective it looks a bit like they sort-of stumbled into the tournament by finishing second in a group which only really had one World Cup contender in, and from that I was thinking that they were fairly likely to end up with zero points. But from what I'm hearing from yourself and others, maybe I'm wrong! There's potential for points aggainst Algeria and Austria anyway (and maybe even Argentina, we saw what happened with Saudi at the last world cup...)

I think you've pretty much said everything I was going to say on New Zealand Lewis! They're probably the biggest wildcard of the tournament as they only ever play competitively against teams that are significantly lower-ranked than them, and if they repeat their 2010 performance then they're fairly likely end up in the Round of 32.

In terms of Cape Verde, I was looking at how close the world rankings were between them and Saudi Arabia (at least what they were when the draw took place), that looks like it'll be one of the most evenly-matched games of the group stage. I definitely had Bosnia down as making it through their group, although to be fair I was probably giving them a lot of weight just because they were a European team!

Iraq feel like a bit of an unknown to me as I don't think I've ever really paid attention to them playing football before! They do have a nightmere of a group but hopefully they can squeeze a point or two out of it. Also surprised to see Uzbekistan so far down the list, one of those teams that could make the Round of 32 for me.

Ooh I haven't been following non-league football too much but as an ex-York resident it's great to see them back in the Football League after so long!

Ah I must have missed Tahith Chong in my very quick scroll through! As with Haiti, great to see them qualify, but I do fear for them.

The other thing about Haiti is that it's quite likely they'll be one of a number of teams where none of the squad play football in the country they're representing - in 2022 it was only Senegal that were in that situation but with the expansion to 48 teams I imagine it'll be the case for quite a few more. At least some of the players were actually born in Haiti, unlike the country which I'm guessing will appear next...
