Will we see 1st-6th results??

Probably not, the BBC didn't reveal them last year either. Which is ridiculous as literally every other national final does.

Yay, my favorite won! I didn't count on people on here liking it because it's not really a 'pop' song in the way that most of buzzjack are comfortable with which is fair enough but musical theatre is a tremendously popular genre (and if you believe the stereotype around the kinds of people who watch Eurovision - there's presumably a certain degree of crossover). If it carries off the 'west end showstopper' vibe succesfully enough then it'll be enough people's cup of tea for it to break that 'ceiling' that stuff like Joe and Jake didn't manage and get out of the bottom five at least.

It doesn't need a revamp in a fundamental way but it just needs more of a drive/beat in the instrumentation which'll let it reach more of a climax at the end. That's certainly how she sang it, the music just needs to mirror with her voice more. The word is that the version that made the shortlist was pared down a bit from the first version which I think in hindsight is a bad call but since they've probably got that earlier version on a hard-drive somewhere that'd probably be a good place to start.

I also remember a 6 part series to find a British entry, I think it was with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Graham Norton, I think that was televised around this time of the year as well.

It's something to do with tedious and complicated freedom of information legislation I think. It's the same reason they don't release the Strictly voting figures unlike ITV does for their shows.

Ahh didn't that Lucie come 4th or something?

I was confusing her with Laura White and Lucie Spragan and thinking, but her face looked different that last time!

Didn't watch the show, but I think Lucie is the right decision. Her vocal will really sell it, but the BBC really need to get good staging as well or she'll flop like Molly.

Song wise it was only about my 4th favourite, but I'm coming around to the idea that it's our best option in terms of potential result. I think it'll rely heavily on a good running order slot (second half and surrounded by some up-tempo songs to make it stand out) but I think it's safe and easy to stage, it's harder to go wrong with a ballad like this imo.

It could do a Jade, it could do similar to Hovi last year and finish mid-table, it could do an "I Stand", don't want to call it. But I think it's more interesting than the latter, and, well...give us your 12, Denmark.

First things first, despite the underwhelming radio reveal it did turn out to be a very decent national final and overall a big improvement on last year's vocal-wise, stage-wise and production-wise. Comparing this final to the Making Your Mind Up TV studio days does show the BBC have made big progress and if they keep going, they will get the hang of this properly in a few years.

Holly was a great opener. Her song is still probably the most anonymous of the lot unfortunately for her (along with Nate's) but her vocals really surprised me live, very very strong. Although as an overall performer there's nothing particularly memorable about her, she was basically Bianca from Parade 2.0 with a less memorable song.

Danyl had sound issues at the start and his vocals were a little strained, not as perfect as he often was throughout the X Factor. I actually did like the staging of this performance, exactly what I had in mind. Very much from the Bruno Mars/Guy Sebastian copybook. The song wasn't strong enough at the end of the day.

Lucie was the class act, her song shined live much more as I expected. I liked the simple staging, although I agree with Cameron that a little bit of something in the background like "Made of Stars" could be the missing piece. You can tell she's been doing musical theatre for the past 6 years, Lucie definitely goes a little bit overboard of the facial expressions but I actually think it worked and added that emotion and storytelling.

Olivia also pleasantly surprised me after seeing how nervous she was on her camera moments before her performance. Her voice was very strong and had a much more unique tone to what I remembered from X Factor, she slightly slipped up on the big note but it was passable and she gave it her all. The main let-down was her staging, it felt very bare until the flags came on at the end and with her being so small and young, she hasn't quite developed the stage presence of a Lucie. When Sophie criticised her I knew it was all but over.

Nate suffered from soundpiece issues, but he didn't have the emotion/experience of Lucie to carry off such a subtle song. He should've done a John Legend and sat behind a piano or something for added authenticity, ultimately it was forgettable.

Salena was a vocal trainwreck and the song is still very clumsy with the lyrics. There's a good song underneath it but the lyrics need re-writing, and seemingly a different singer as well. In response to the poll, this would be a certain 26th place - so many countries will deliver a tropical pop song of a higher standard and well sung unlike Salena here.

Overall I gave Olivia 2 votes and Lucie 1 vote, I still prefer Olivia's song studio-wise but Lucie was certainly the correct decision for Kyiv. As I've said before, none of these songs are strong enough for people to have as their ultimate favourite and televote for it. Therefore we HAVE to appeal for the juries, trying to make their top 10s. With Lucie being such a good vocalist, she is the only chance of these six to feature in regular jury top 10s.

That said, the comparisons with 'I Stand' and also 'It's My Time' are both valid. I Stand was destroyed by performing second, if Lucie performs second she will be similarly destroyed. On the other hand, if Lucie performs 23rd like Jade did - jurors will remember her and rank her higher for remembering such a great vocal. I do think the ceiling for the song will be the mid-teens. With a good draw she could get close to matching Hovi's 14th place last year (less memorable song, hypothetically better draw, equally excellent vocals), but with a bad draw then Gabriela's 25th place is likely.

So yes, best choice UK so well done there. Very draw dependent but we won't be embarrassed (like we would with Salena's trainwreck vocal). We'll have to hope that this year isn't going to be the year of the female ballad as it is so far (3 female ballads out of 4 revealed songs for those unaware).

Great minds think alike there Jack! *.*

Oh and I didn't even mentioned that I'm personally thrilled because Lucie was by far my favourite on X Factor 6 and I've followed her career since, so I'm glad she's getting her moment to shine!

Rich, she does have an EP out I believe from 2015 - I think I glimpsed it when searching for her Eurovision song on Apple Music earlier so I shall have to double check!

Everyone needs to get on board with Finland sending My First Band tomorrow! For the greater good

NO, EMMA MUST WIN! She's a female but it's what she called WDM "Wooden Dance Music" so it isn't competition in the ballad category.

Also a shout-out to CeCe for being unintentionally iconic. I love how she seemed to have a different superlative ready to shout (literally) at each contestant after their performance. INCREDIBLE! OUTSTANDING! FANTASTIC! WOW!

Meh - I guess it's the best of a mediocre bunch. I guess it's closest to Jade Ewans Top 5 entry than anything we have submitted in recent years which is not a bad thing.

Lucie stated tonight in an interview this was her favourite Eurovision entry and she's performed it in the past too! Click below to find out what it is! :D

End of the day this just isn't very good. It'll probably do the best we've done for a good few years though.
