Omg, no Ed! :o Shape Of You will probably never make a Now then unless it's a very late addition on the winter edition.

Triple Bieber in the first 10 and the Demi double on disc 2 :lol:

Edited by gooddelta

Disc 1 is pop central with all but 2 songs being Top 40 hits (however 1 of which is likely to enter Mid 30's this week)

But Disc 2 seems to be a bit disjointed and not in any particular order. It's full of great songs but there's a few glaring omissions...

First & Foremost... WHERE THE F*** IS ED SHEERAN?

Charlie Puth & Imagine Dragons are also notably missing.

Got to assume that's it for Ed on the Now compilations now...odd that he's licensed a track to Bravo Hits 98 in Germany, though I'm not sure what it will be yet.

Bit weird for him to allow Castle on the Hill on Now 96 but suddenly then decide - mid era - that he's done with compilations :blink:

Now 97 Omissions

Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You

Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl

Drake – Passionfruit

DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts

Captain Ska – Liar Liar Ge2017

Charlie Puth – Attention

The Weeknd – Party Monster

Liam Gallagher – Wall Of Glass

Drake – Signs

Maroon 5 feat. Future – Cold

ZAYN feat. PARTYNEXTDOR – Still Got Time

Calvin Harris feat. Young Thug, Pharrell Williams & Ariana Grande – Heatstroke

Imagine Dragons – Thunder

Liv'n'G – Smile For Bradley

Major Lazer feat. Travis Scott, Camila Cabello & Quavo – Know No Better

KYLE feat. Lil Yachty – iSpy

Paramore – Hard Times

Lana Del Rey feat. The Weeknd – Lust For Life

Lil Uzi Vert – XO TOUR Llif3

Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj – Swish Swsh

Steps – Scared Of The Dark

Louisa Johnson – Best Behaviour

Any others?

Tbh, only the two Ed songs and Charlie Puth strike me as odd omissions, Wild Thoughts will probably be on Now 98, I wasn't expecting to see Drake on here and the other songs are midtable hits at best (or Liar Liar, which was never going to have a chance). Assuming they just couldn't get the rights for Ed and Attention.

They've done a good job with the selection - the sequencing could be better in areas as it's a bit slapdash towards the end of Disc 2.

They put "Dangerously" which flopped on NOW 95 but not "Attention" which was a hit on NOW 97. Wasn't expecting "Humble" to be included
There's no reason Galway girl should be emitted

Well it seems there was. :(

As regards the inclusion of The Weeknd;

His most recent song is "Secrets" so if they were eager to include him, they would use that instead of PM

Neither 2 of them have been hits but Secrets would make more sense if they were going to include him

Both wrong! :rolleyes:

Spotify playlist.

Lol at Ed Sheeran not licensing either of his tracks for this NOW, but at least they can say they have a few #1 singles on this edition.

Was hoping they'd include ALMA, well maybe she'll make the next addition if 'Chasing Highs' actually becomes a proper hit. No absolute WTF decisions here either though a few understandable flops (JP Cooper, HAIM, RAYE)

Well we were almost certainly due a shock, and never in a good way.

I'd wrongly predicted earlier this week that Despacito would be the shock omission, but it seems the Bieber love is as strong as ever with all 3 of his recent featured hits included in the tracklist. Two features for Little Mix which Dan predicted too.

So by the looks of things, they are somehow expecting the following tracks to make some kind of future chart impact;

Nick Jonas feat. Anne-Marie & Mike Posner – Remember I Told You

The Weeknd – Rockin'

Jax Jones feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don – Instruction

Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan – There For You

Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls

NEIKED feat. MIMI – Call Me

RAYE – The Line

Fifth Harmony feat. Gucci Mane – Down

HAIM – Want You Back

JO Cooper – Passport Home

Which ones do you think could be future hits and which will flop? :o

I had thought Steps Scared of the Dark would make the cut. It was a chart moment to see them back in the top 40.

Am happy to see Giants by Take That make the list, it may help attract some small sales to the single.

That's a really good track list to be fair.

I wonder if they'll put SOY on Now 98? Back in the early 2000's they'd keep some big hits from earlier of the year and put them on the November edition (e.g All Saints - Pure Shores, Westlife - Uptown Girl, Britney - Hit Me Baby...One More Time). Maybe the label are asking too much to licence Ed's tracks for the series?

There's not a radio edit of 'Sign Of The Times' is there? I wonder what they'll cut from it to get it down to 4-ish minutes.

As regards Ed Sheeran,

Previous features (12 in total);

Now 79 • The A Team {3}

Now 80 • You Need Me, I Don't Need You {4}

Now 81 • Lego House {5}

Now 82 • Small Bump {25}

Now 83 • Watchtower (with Devlin) {7}

Now 88 • Sing {1}

Now 80 • Don't {8}

Now 90 • Thinking Out Loud {1}

Now 91 • Bloodstream (with Rudimental) {2}

Now 92 • Lay It All On Me (with Rudimental) {12}

Now 92 • Photograph {15}

Now 96 • Castle On The Hill {2}

Noteworthy omissions;

Drunk {9}

Everything Has Changed (with Taylor Swift) {7}

I See Fire {13}

Shape Of You {1}

How Would You Feel (Paean) {2}

Galway Girl {2}

So will we ever see him feature on a compilation ever again? :(

There is one! Radio 1 have played it numerous times, it's just not available for purchase at the moment.
