much though i like these medieval japes, from what ive seen im not expecting to enjoy it. they seem to want to overlay todays social problems on a 12th centuary setting.... to me that just doesnt wash.

when i watch medieval drama, i want to see medieval drama! the special effects seem far too holywood for me, too much clint eastwood, which is fine set in arizona... but not in sherwood forest!

i was hoping that this production would steer away from the kevin costner model, i fear it hasnt.

Saw the guy on GMTV being interview, and they were chatting about how the Ye Olde re-makes have been done alot before, but on this one they've all got their own accents etc. Although I'm surprised their hasn't been a modernised re-make of this before :o

Anyone watching this tonight :cheer:

I am, I like to see what all the fuss is all about, I loved watching Robin Of Sherwood with Michael Praed and Jason Connery.

Quite looking forward to it actually, the only character that is missing from the series is Friar Tuck apparently for some reason, I hope the producers have a change of heart, later on.

Loved it, there is room for improvement.

It just lacks Friar Tuck

I didn't watch it.

Saturday TV for me is X Factor, Ant & Dec and Afterlife.

And for me, though I did watch Robin Hood tonight instead of Ant and Dec. It was passable.

I didn't find it as good as people made it out to be but it was still good. ^_^ Hopefully it will improve now that we've been introduced to the charchters a little bit more now.

I was very disappointed by it.

It was way too Politically Correct for my liking drawing comparisons with the modern day "Holy War" in the Middle East at the moment.

I also thought that the acting was fairly mediocre with the exception of Keith Allen, who was brilliant as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

4/10.

..... not only that but gisbourne is a better looking bloke then weedy new-man mr political correctness robin hood!

It's bland, utterly bland, I've seen about two episodes and I am not impressed... Absolutely nothing compared to the excellent "Robin of Sherwood" series from the 80s in terms of story-lines, and far more true to the legend I feel, taking in the Pagan/Anglo Saxon belief systems.. Nikolas Grace was a far more convincing Sheriff, his menace was a quiet, understated one....

Just why the fukk did they cast some 'Donne Darko' lookie-likey to play Robin anyway...?

erm.. scott, the anglo saxons were converted to christianity in the 6th-7th centuaries m8, thats at least 500 years before robin :)

historically the gaping mistake they are making is the way they are totally ignoring the class system.

after the conquest in 1066, the ruling classes were french! the underclasses were the (by then) native anglo saxons... there was 2 different languages spoken and still a huge resentment of the ruling classes by the indigenous saxons.

But there were representations of the ancient Pagan belief systems in "Robin Of Sherwood"... He was given the mantle of 'the hooded man' by Herne the Hunter in that series, and the character was Anglo-Saxon progeny. Robin was converted to the old belief system by Herne....
