Macedonia have confirmed that they're going with some singer called Jana Burčeska. Songwriting team being assembled to create a "“modern and attractive Eurovision entry that will present the country in front of the European and worldwide cultural public” (source)

Interesting that they seem to be using more or less the same strategy that Bulgaria used last/this year. If it delivers something as good as If Love Was A Crime then you can count me in!

So this was one rumour about chaos behind the scenes in Macedonia:

For those unaware, reliable insider gossip on ESCForum suggests this song was originally given to Macedonia for Jana. Serbia also heard the song and decided they wanted it as well, and either the writers gave Serbia priority or Macedonia sold the song on for extra money - the latter seems most likely. It'll be interesting to see if Macedonia have passed up on a great result by selling this on.

Macedonia have reportedly been saddled with a jazz back-up entry that was potentially going to be Poli's entry for Bulgaria last year until they settled on If Love Was A Crime.

A new rumour now suggests Macedonia actually have another song by the same team behind the Serbian song (Rise Like A Phoenix, If Love Was A Crime team). Either way, we'll find out on March 10th!

Apparently called Dance Alone and is produced by a Bulgarian-Swedish team, released this evening.

Another uptempo :cheer:

Really good song from Macedonia actually!

I really like that. It's the type of thing the likes of Azerbaijan could take into the top 10 but might struggle more than it ought to because it's Macedonia

Gotta say, Slovenia aside, the balkans are really BRINGING it this year.

What an unusual turn of events, it's normally the other way around.

This is a good song, not as standout as what the other Balkans have brought but a solid entry, and that helps because I'd really like them to qualify. If anything just because it's starting to get a bit ridiculous, if this doesn't make it, they'll have had literally one qualifier in a full decade.

The last few entries are making this contest much much more enjoyable now
First listen thought this was very good, second listen even better! She's going to be having Sacha Jean Baptiste so her staging apparently so hopefully this can be a qualifier

Yeah, I feel like it deserves to be their first top 10 but given the track record, I think qualification would be enough and it will be RIDICULOUS if it doesn't even manage that.

I am actually happy with my country entry for a change :o SHOCK!

SO GOOD!

It's my favourite entry this year. Absolutely LOVE this. Who'd have thought it?! Think my favourite Macedonian entry before this was 2006 or 2007, but this is MILES better. I'm sure you'll be in the final this year Boyan!

This is an absolute bop, something you don't really come to expect of Macedonia!!
This very much reminds me of those electro house tracks that were big in the late 00s. That ain't to say it's dated, it still feels current and those 80s electro clashes in the chorus are sublime. Surely they're qualifying this year?
Great entry *.* Macedonia's best since 2006/7 for me, though I did love Dona last year too.

This is so good tho *.*. Never really expected something like this from Macedonia. Hopefully this will be able to qualify ^_^
