November 25, 20168 yr Author Norway have received a record breaking number of submissions for MGP 2017 which will be implementing an international jury for the first time in many years next year. Tentative final date is March 11th (PLEASE NO!) and head of NRK has stated that they are "in it to win it" with the goal of hosting another Eurovision as soon as possible! https://escxtra.com/2016/11/10/record-break...rand-prix-2017/ Norway's weakest entry for me this decade is Tooji and that is a pretty decent bop (or maybe Carl Espen but I appreciate the quality) so that shows that they have had a high quality decade!
January 24, 20178 yr Norway have been pretty quiet lately haven't they? There's a very lowkey unlikely to happen rumor is one of a Tone Damli return (he says in the hope that Silas just happens to have her name on Google Alert) but not expecting that to come to anything. Only other properly known name in the rumor mill is the lead singer of WigWam from 2005 returning as a solo act. Also, one of the songs in the final lineup is allegedly written by Ida Maria of 'I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked' fame.
January 25, 20178 yr Alexander Rybak have been sneaking around in diffrent NRK programs this fall/winter (just saying). Tone Damli please <3
February 4, 20178 yr NRK have already opened for submissions for MGP 2018, usally they wait a couple of weeks after the Eurovision final. Hopefully NRK have found something so good they are confident that they will be busy planning Eurovision 2018
February 4, 20178 yr Yes please Tone Damli to win. Not seen anything on her social media to suggest it but she kept being back in the studio relatively quiet
February 7, 20178 yr NRK have put up the 10 artists with 15 second clips - https://www.nrk.no/kultur/disse-10-artisten...2017-1.13358124 Not one for the ages on first listen but there are a few off the chain delights in here - Mom Boy (which speaks for itself), the seriously hanging In Fusion, and DEFINITELY NOT ON DRUGS Elin of Elin & the Woods in particular.
February 7, 20178 yr Here for Amina, Elin and Jowst. The former's production sounds SUBLIME. Can't wait for the full version.
February 7, 20178 yr I havn't listen to the clips yet, but Rune Rudberg and Kristian Valen?? Are you f***ing kidding with me NRK? :(
February 7, 20178 yr Ahh, 'Mama Boy' is the fabled Ida Maria co-write I see. That's the one that was the most instant out of the clips to me so I'm hyped to hear that. In Fusion look ropey af but they seem to know their way around a good sing-a-long schlager song so that's good. I lowkey quite like the 80s hair metal pastiche as well but outside of me and Iz everyone's probably going to hate that. The rest...meh.
February 7, 20178 yr I kept quiet about Wrecking Crew because I thought that was being too obvious! It's good though. Erm, Elin and In Fusion look like pretty decent 'unusual' ones.
February 15, 20178 yr Mesterverk is so subtle and fantastic. Elin is really good but I guess it could be much more impactful live. The rest did not impress.
February 15, 20178 yr Kristian Valen - You and I - 0,0 - Do not like this. And I hate Valen, so to rightfully judge this song is impossible. Will probably watch Melodifestivalen instead of MGP just because of this untalented piece of s... He is also the wost comedian Norway have ever had.. Ulrikke - Places - 8.0 - Wow, this sounds so much better than I thought from the 15 seconds clips! Elin & The Woods - First Step in Faith (Oadjebasvuhtil) - 6.0 - It's nice. Amina Sewali - Mesterverk - 5.0 - It's ok. Too bad it's the only song in Norwegian. Ella - Mama's Boy - 3.0 - Oh what a disappointment... I thought it would be much better. Rune Rudberg - Run Run Away - 0.0 - I absolutly hate this man, almost as much as Kristian Valen. Another reason not to watch the final live. Jenny Augusta - I Go Where You Go - 6.0 - I kinda like this... Maybe a bit too much haha. JOWST - Grab The Moment - 8.0 - I like the vibes of this song, but I don't think it will win though. Ammunition - Wrecking Crew - 2.0 - Meh In Fusion - Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over - 5.0 - It ok, dosn't do much for me, will probably do more for me live. Ulrikke and JOWST was a light bright. Hopefully one of them will be able to beat Kristian Valen... but it sadly looks more and more like he will be representing Norway :(
February 15, 20178 yr JOWST published Grab The Moment on Soundcloud in August...oops: https://twitter.com/JOWSTMUSIC/status/767279087975096320 This selection is largely poor on first listen. In Fusion is a 9/10, I like Places and Grab The Moment in an 8/10 sort of way and Elin has potential to grow. Most of the other songs sound either amateur, dated, awful, or all three. March 6, 20178 yr Running order for the final is out today: Melodi 1: Ulrikke – «Places» Melodi 2: Jenny Augusta – «I go where you go» Melodi 3: Rune Rudberg Band – «Run Run Away» Melodi 4: JOWST – «Grab The Moment» Melodi 5: Kristian Valen – «You & I» Melodi 6: In Fusion – «Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over» Melodi 7: Amina Sewali – «Mesterverk» Melodi 8: AMMUNITION – «WRECKING CREW» Melodi 9: Elin & The Woods – «First Step In Faith / Oadjebasvuhtii» Melodi 10: Ella – «Mamma Boy» YAAAAASSS at Ella getting the pimpslot and Ulrikke opening, those two are the Norwegians' best options I think. And Kristian Valen is buried in the middle so should be easily killable by the international juries.
