Posted December 5, 20168 yr You're probably thinking "Ugh. ANOTHER remake/reboot?" *watches trailer* IjHgzkQM2Sg Now you're probs thinking... "you know what... that looks genuinely great"! Looks like it could be a good, all out popcorn Summer blockbuster! Excited tbh.
June 9, 20178 yr I was worried that I wasn't going to enjoy this after the poor reviews and lacklustre trailers but I had a good time watching it. Sofia Boutella had a great visual style going on as The Mummy and was easily the best thing to watch on screen (I enjoyed Crowe's transformation into Hyde too), I hope she continues to get more Hollywood roles as I've loved her in this, Kingsman and Star Trek now. Tom Cruise was decent but suffered because a few of his jokes were awkwardly timed or shoehorned in even if he delivered them competently. A shame the female lead was so devoid of character though, especially as she came across so likable in real life on The Graham Norton Show last week. Overall, the visuals were exciting, the jumpscares were fun and the action scenes were suitably enjoyable. Getting unfairly destroyed by critics in my opinion, about a 7/10 for me!
June 21, 20178 yr attempt to start a classic monster movie franchise, they need to up their game if they want any more of them to be made, this just didn't work. Tom was more morally ambiguous than usual and it jarred, the best thing by far was Sofia, but at the end of the day I didn't care about any of the characters and that's a flaw. 5/10
June 22, 20178 yr When I saw this was being released at first I thought it was another movie altogether, I didnt realise it was a remake. I remember the original coming out, didnt realise that was way back in 1999 though :o made me feel old :drama:  I watched the original again yesterday, wouldn't mind seeing the remake too :D
